Traveling Turkeys Part 2 11/22/08

I noticed some of you have gotten your shirts, I mailed them USPS priority mail in 3 batches. The last to go out were Shay's and Jim's so they probably won't see theirs until Monday but I think everyone else will get theirs today. Most of the orders are packed in yellow bubble envelopes.

Let me know if you don't get them today and I'll check on them, I know we are short on time. :hourglass

One of my friends made the design and another screened them. They are so happy with how they turned out that they framed one and it is hanging in the front of their shop!

Off to the gym now.... :yay:
Thanks again for doing this for us. :goodvibes I just tracked mine, they're in my town and should be delivered with our mail around 2pm today. :woohoo: I can't wait to see them.

Do you mind if I use the design for a door sign?

7 days from right now we will have all our luggage packed in the car as we drive up to the Port. :cool1: I think I'll pack this weekend so that I'm sure to not wear something I want for the cruise. I keep eyeing that long candy apple red ballgown for my next run to Publix. :rotfl2:
:lmao: I would love to see that. I'm going to Publix today, but I think I'll leave my formal wear in the closet.

It's a beautiful day here again. The high will be in the low 80°s. I'd better get out and enjoy it because it's only going to be in the 60°s tomorrow. YIKES! I'm gonna freeze my butt off.
Sadly it looks like it will only be a high of 71° for your cruise embarkation day. However, it should be 78° on Sunday at Castaway Cay. :woohoo: Still too far out to check Grand Cayman, but on Monday it'll be 80° there.

Susan - I'm so glad your dog is fine. They are a lot of fuss and bother but we love them anyway don't we! My neighbor has 2 Boxers and they are a couple of rough and tumble guys.
Ken - Thanks for the shuttle info. I double checked and our flight is out of MCO at 3:45. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. We should be able to hear it there, right? Any chance of seeing it? We saw a launch from WDW a year ago and it was amazing even at that distance.

Now I'm really leaving to start my incredible journey!

Judy:drive: :donald:

It all depends on the re-entry track. Its too early to tell but if it does go near Orlando, you will probably hear it, but wont be able to see it. It is pretty cool to hear the sonic boom when it passes.

Not at all, I can't wait to see it!

On another note, we have two boxer dogs that are in BIG trouble!

They escaped their pen last night and one got completely drenched by a skunk.

I am glad they are OK, we LOVE boxers! We have had a few over the years and our last boxer was absolutely the best dog ever. We don't have a dog right now but some day....

Off to buy some magnetic paper and stuff to do our door signs! And there is still a lot of packing to do, I hope to be done tomorrow.

Does anyone know if it's better to purchase jewelry in Grand Cayman or Cozumel? Does anyone have any good recommendations for stores??

Getting all the packing and ironing done today....packing way too many shoes!!

Looks like I will be spared the trip to PA this week, but I get to go the beginning of January instead...maybe I will pack the skis and stay an extra day...j/k there...Lisa would not appreciate that one...

As to the weather next week, at the port, just remember that throwing darts blindfolded can be just as accurate as predicting the weather in Florida...also, low 70's in Florida with the sun out can be very nice weather...the sun is much more intense here than up north.

Chuck:cool1:

As to the jewelry queston, it depends on type and taste...we like the Kirk Freeport outlet in GC located about 2-3 blocks left of the tenders as you face the port...Lisa has done very well there, though it is entirely hit or miss

We just got done with the unthinkable. We usually wait till the 4 day weekend at Thanksgiving to take down the Christmas stuff from the attic and start putting it up. Since we wont be here this year, we decided to take it out of the attic the same time the Holloween stuff went back up. Its all going to sit out in boxes in the garage till after the cruise, but I now feel like we are keeping up with Walmart in getting the decorations out WAY too early.

Ken, we are right there with you. I just finished cleaning our living room to prepare to put our Christmas tree up later today. We usually put it up the day after Thanksgiving so we decided to put it up before we go. Yes, I know just another thing to add to the to do list. I did stop the mail and newspaper and DH set all the light timers. Boy, this is going to be a busy week and the time will fly by.

Susan, glad to hear that the dogs are ok. Yes we all love our puppies!!! and kitties for those who have them.

Gotta run, do :laundy: :, finish cleaning and prepare for Christmas decorations.:scared1: Have a great day everybody!!!:upsidedow

Question for you runners...

Teresa sent me a link a while ago that said they were having a 5k on Castaway Cay. Has anyone heard of this? And is anyone planning on doing this?

Well, the house is as clean as can be and I'm still working on laundry. My DS and I started packing him, but I am at a point where I want to make sure all of the laundry is done first. I'm not very motivated to pack for some reason, and a nap is sounding better and better by the minute. It's actually dropping flurries of snow here and it is absolutely freezing! I kind of wish we were leaving today!

I was just thinking as I was cleaning today that maybe we should put the Christmas tree up before we leave. Of course, if I keep procrastinating on the packing, there is no way that's going to happen!;) It would sure be nice to get home and already have the tree up though.

Well, I had better get off the couch and keep going or else that nap I was mentioning just might become a reality.

Susan

We heard that they sometimes have the 5K but we couldn't get an specific info about it. If they do have it then DD9 and DH will definitely do it. DH actually has to do a 20 mile run sometime during the trip because he has a marathon the week after the cruise. He will be running every morning.

I'm finally back. I did everything on my list except I forgot to stop at Petco and get dog food for the stay at the kennel (sorry, "doggie sleep away camp"). :dogdance: DH can do that this week on his way home from school.
I have to admit putting our Christmas tree up never crossed my mind! The house needs a thorough cleaning before that happens and the cleaning is not gonna happen until after the trip!
Chuck - You'll definitely need that jacket up here in January. That part of the state is like a frozen tundra.
I will also be checking out the jewelry stores on GC! First I'll take DH to Margaritaville and buy him a few drinks. That usually loosens up the wallet!:lmao:

Judy

Our tree is up, no ornaments on it, but it is up. It's pre-lit so that helps.

Off to throw more :laundy: in.

I think I might ask DH to get the Christmas tree out of the basement later. Too bad you all can't be here to hear his reaction when I ask him that.:rotfl2: I'm positive that he will be thrilled.

I keep packing, sitting, folding laundry, packing, sitting, folding laundry.....I just wish the darn packing was done. That's not so fun for me. I had said I wasn't going to pack until the night before because that's how I usually do things. When I do it that way, I'm so stressed that I'm not exactly nice to be around and I'm pretty sure my family doesn't really like me all that much. So, I decided to try it this way to see if I'll be more pleasant on Wednesday night so that Brian and the kids actually want to vacation with me.:lmao:

Susan

Ken - Teresa

We put our Christmas tree up today also- pre lit is the way to go.

We could not put any ornaments on because our cats would have a ball while we were away.

This time next week..... let the party start.

I love that statement.....This time next week.....let the party start
Music to my ears:banana: :cool1: :yay: :dance3: :woohoo:

My tree is a Mickey tree, so it would be kind of fun to get it up and decorated before we leave. Two years ago, we bought a new prelit tree and after Christmas, I went to the Disney Store and bought all of the Mickey ornaments and decorations for the tree. We put one upstairs that has all of the kids ornaments on it. I'm just not sure I'm ready to tackle all of this extra stuff yet, but it would sure be nice to come home to a house decorated for Christmas already.:thumbsup2

Come on Susan with all of your energy lately, you can do it. You will feel much better after its all done. Then you can go on the trip and relax.

Christmas trees... I'll be lucky if I'm ready for the cruise next Saturday, I wouldn't even think about putting up our tree. That's just crazy. ;)

Judy ~ I forgot to tell you... the next time there's a shuttle launch watch CNN. They always cover it. Our local stations don't usually cover it either unless it's at their usual news times.

Susan ~ I'm exactly the same way. I get really crazy-stressed the day before and especially the morning we leave. I'm going to try really hard to do things ahead of time, but it's just not in my nature. My biggest problem is DS will be wearing most of the clothes he needs to pack all next week for school. I'm really weird about laundry too. When I pull stuff out of the wash I only have it in the dryer for 5 minutes to get the wrinkles out, then I hang everything up to finish drying (which normally takes until the next day). That way I don't have to iron anything. Me + iron = disaster. But doing it this way takes longer and I really have to plan ahead.

Speaking of packing... has anyone used those Space Bags that you roll the air out of? I bought some for stuff that doesn't matter if it gets wrinkled, like socks, underwear, bathing suits, pajamas, etc. I'm also planning to use them for all the dirty clothes on the way home.

Well at least I don't have to worry about a christmas tree! This year I don't think I'm doing any holiday decorations.

Hey Teresa...at least I can hear the horn in person this time around!! Actually I think Michael's the one who got to hear it when Ken called him right?
