I have a 5 yr old girl who loves rollercoasters and she does not scare easily. She surpasses the height requirment for the ride. Has anyone taken a young child on this and if so did they like it?

If your daughter likes roller coasters then I am sure she will like the Tower of Terror.
The first time we rode this ride the person behind us was saying what is gonna come next and hold on and blah blah blah. ruined the whole experience for us.

We brought one of my sons when he was 4yo. We weren't really planning on it, but at the last minute decided to do it so we could get on to our other rides faster instead of doing the baby swap. I wouldn't say that he liked it, but he didn't freak out or anything. I'm really the only one in my family who loves ToT. I'm going to WDW next month with current 4yo and since I won't have the option of the baby swap (the rest of my family is staying home) I will plan on bringing Jake on ToT. I'll first see how he does on other rides and then decide for sure. He is kind of a chicken (as was his older brother) so I'm not really sure if he would like it.

If your daughter tends to not scare easily I would bring her without a doubt.

TOT was dd's favorite ride when she was 4.5 years old. It's still her favorite now that she is 10.5.

I think we're going to try almost 5 year old ds on it this time. We'll see how he feels about it when we get there.

Ds #1 (almost 13) still does not want to ride.

When my DD was 5 I took her on it because she was, is such a daredevil and she could not get enough of it. She is 9 now and still cannot get enough of anything thrilling. For her 9th birthday I took her parasailing from the contemporary. That was WAY cool. She did not weigh enough so I got to go up with her.

My DD was 7 when went in May. She has always been a daredevil when it comes to rides, love rollercoasters, etc. & she was most looking forward to riding TOT. Well, it totally freaked her out! She cried through the whole thing :( It wasn't that the ride was too fast, it was the darkness and spookiness that did her in.

I was a scared kid, I suppose.... we went as a family in 1984, and I was 7... and terrified of the Haunted Mansion! There's no way I could have handled the ToT then. I guess kids are either tougher these days, or I was just a big wimp! :)

The scare factor on ToT is a bit high due to the theme more than the drops. She sounds like she can handle the physical part of the ride no problem, but if she is tentative about the HM or other ghostly rides, then you might want to wait another year. It doesn't have as many haunts as the HM, but it is a bit creepy all the same and may scare a small child.

I think the TOT ride is very different from a roller coaster. Think a mix between a free fall and a yo-yo. My DD went on it at 6 and HATED it. Rode the ride curled into my side (as much as she could anyway). We are going back after 2 years and she is just now saying she might maybe try it again. As a bench mark, she was too small for Rockin Rollercoaster, loved Splash Mountain and didn't like Big Thunder Mountain - thought it was too rickety.

I think you'll be fine. You might want to prep your child a little so that they are not surprised by the weird sounds and the dropping. Assure them that they are safe in the seat, etc.

I'd go for it!!!

My DS8 and I LOVE rollercoasters -- Rock n' Rollercoaster is our favorite ride at WDW! -- but we both really did not enjoy ToT at all. We tried it out when we were there last year and, although we enjoyed the atmosphere of the ride, the repeated dropping was not pleasurable at all. I got off that ride feeling very unsteady because I'd been bracing myself the whole time trying to avoid that stomach-dropping feeling!! Anyway, what I'm getting at is just because your DD likes rollercoasters doesn't mean she'll like this ride. If she's the type who isn't afraid of a spooky atmosphere and also enjoys that dropping sensation, however, she may love it! In my family, the only one who likes this ride is my DH... It's sad because no one else will go on it with him!!

Have a great trip,
Sarah

my dd rode ToT on her 5th birthday trip at loved it! She has always been a little daredevil and at 12yrs old now has no fear! It's not really that bad, you just have to be the judge your childs temperment...

DS8 (and me and grandma!) rode it for the first time this past trip (got back yesterday :( ). We were ALL scared to ride it last April. This trip we tried it and NONE of us could get enough of it!!! We even went back to MGM on our last day there specifically to ride this ride several times in a row!! DS was "creeped out" at first, but ended up absolutely LOVING this ride!!! Can't wait to go back . . . someday!!!

my 3 yo loved TOT. My 7 yo won't ride it, but loves the Rock N Roller coaster. Depends on the kid.

have fun!
