This is the worst day - UPDATE on page 2

I am a teacher and only get paid 10 months out of the year. I save up each school year to cover my summer bills, including my mortgage. However this past summer I ended up having to replace the engine in my minivan 800 miles from home. I ended up being a week late on my sept mortgage waiting for my first check. My company was all over me trying to get me to go through the loan modification program but I kept refusing trying to explain that it was just a rare sitution and I didn't want the loan modificaton. I was really suprised by how aggressive they were. I think this was another program where the wrong people got calls and it screwed those who needed it along with those who didn't but got sucked in.
Your situation is exactly what happened to our neighbors. They were with one of the bigger banks that had received a substantial amount from the first "stimulus" package and the bank had a tremendous amount of federal pressure to use the funds provided for the remodification program. Our neighbors were late for one payment and then they received numerous phone calls about the remodification program and finally received a packet of papers to sign to begin the program. I think they gave in and signed as much out of exhaustion from saying no as anything else! Now they have referred it all to their attorney, as they certainly didn't fall into the category of who the program was INTENDED for... those who were in imminent danger of foreclosure. It's a situation of powers that be wanting to prove a program is "helping" by having the funds utilized, whether the program is a good one or not!!!

The whole thing just stinks! I am sending good wishes to heathers4um , hope everything works out and you are soon a dvc owner (which I know will happen!)
