Sounds like a good idea to don't harm the floor so you could have wooden floors in the future and to put the carpet on for now.
Well the story hasn't ended quite yet

The man that promised to call me back yesterday to confirm it all, didn't call. I haven't received a confirmation mail either

So I called them again today. Explained the whole story including what was done yesterday and that the man promised me to call me back and he hasn't. The man I now got to talk to said that everything was OK now and that the man who was supposed to call me back will call me back and I will get a confirmation mail of it all. Well I guess I just have to wait and see and call back again tomorrow if I don't hear anything
Thanks I hope you have a nice weekend too.
Yes - we did the best we could... We had a few areas of the floor where we had to level it out, we chose to do a "wood frame" rather than the epoxy that Josh wanted to do originally. The wood frame can be pulled out, but the epoxy would permanently ruin the floor. I am happy we did it that way.
Oh no... I sure hope you heard something today.
I love the color of your living room walls. Your living room will be gorgeous when it is all finished.
I think you made a wise choice to handle the floors later. They have been covered with a carpet for decades, another few years won't matter. It looks like the hardwood is in good shape but you really won't know until you go to refinish it.
I hope so - I am pretty excited about it... I have been collecting many fun things to decorate with - and planning my walls too. I may not get everything up and done right away - as far as decorating goes... I have a LOT of wall space to figure out.

Let's just say that I've been spending waaaay too much time on Pinterest. LOL
That was kind of my thought too... Josh wanted to pour an epoxy/leveling material on them to level them - which would permanently ruin the floors - whether we decide to refinish them at a later date, or someone down the road does - I didn't want to be the one responsible for that. LOL So, we chose to wood frame them instead... I'll tell the whole story below.
Holy smokes! Just thinking about doing all of that makes me panic! I usually can't do big projects like that, I end up getting so overwhelmed with everything to get done, that I just end up trying to rush through it... I wouldn't do well on those house flip shows.
Your living room is going to look so great when you get finished! We have a dresser for our T.V. stand right now. We didn't know it was the "in" thing, we just thought it looked good! lol But we'll go with it and say we're hip like that!
I agree about the carpet. While hardwood looks beautiful and is easier to clean, there's something about it (to me) in main rooms that makes a home feel "cold" - if that makes sense?
Adorable pics of Victoria!
Hahaha... Yah - I am in full panic mode right now... My kitchen is a total disaster - with barely enough space to move - much less cook. The sooner my living room is done, the more my sanity will be saved. LOL
Yes - it is a super "in" thing right now... And it makes perfect sense... Who doesn't have an old crappy dresser laying around that could be repurposed - and those long old dressers are the perfect size for media cabinets. It's a win/win... besides - they are so sturdy, a person really can't go out and purchase a solidly made piece of furniture like that without spending a small fortune.

So, you are totally hip... and very soon - I will be totally hip with you.
Yes - that totally makes sense, and I feel exactly the same way... It's just so "echo-y" and I dunno - like you said - cold. Carpet is all warm and snuggly - LOL. I am starting to get nervous about it though - it's so hard to tell if a person is going to truly like something by a small swatch of it... I sure hope I still like it when it's all rolled out and one huge piece.
Thanks - I miss my girls as babies so much!
Wow. All of those plans sound wonderful! How lucky Allison is to be ab,e to experience that wonderful trip!
How lucky she's going to DLP!!! I have always wanted to visit a Disney Park in another country.
Sounds like the work in your living room is going well!
I love this picture! Too cute!
I know!!! Right? I hate to say it - but I am just slightly

jealous of her... To be able to see and do the things she is able to do this summer - well, I've never even dared to dream of it for myself, and I never once imagined my children would be able to experience such things... I am over the moon excited for her (and Victoria, when it's her turn).
It's going well - we are making progress, which is amazing and good. The sooner I can get all of my furniture out of my kitchen, the better off I will be. LOL I am a bit of a basket case right now!
Thanks- I thought so too.
I hope you have a great weekend! Any big plans?

I hope you guys aren't too sick of hearing about this... I can't wait for it to be over. But then you will have to hear about the remainder of my kitchen - which we never quite finished last year... Painting... A bit of trim work... Shouldn't be nearly the production that the living room has been. You would think - a room with no plumbing, no cabinetry, no nothing... Just 4 walls and a few windows, would be easy-peasy... but wow... It's crazy!
Yesterday morning - I worked in my sewing room for a little while... I am trying very hard to stay caught up in there, and to work ahead a little bit, while we have this living room project going on.
After - Allison and I went out to run some errands, while Josh was running his own errands, including dropping V off at her college class and picking her up 4 hours later...
Allison and I found ourselves at a few Goodwills - no good finds. Then Chipotle for lunch - surprise!

Then at Pier 1, my new favorite-est store... I ended up purchasing an accent rug for in front of my stove... It's VERY rare that I ever purchase anything at full price - but I just loved the colors of this rug - you have to zoom in to see them well, but here's the link:
http://www.pier1.com/Blue-Sunset-Ch...left&cgid=small_rugs&start=1&sz=87&showAll=87 I'll have to find another matching rug for in front of my sink, as this store only had 1 in stock. I also found 2 more lanterns for my front porch (regular price $80 each, on clearance for $15)... I also have big plans for that area before Allison's Open House - thankfully - nothing out there needs to be remodeled... Although, we could use a fresh sealing of our front porch.

Gah!!! One thing at a time... I must keep reminding myself.
Once Allison and I were home - I started working on sanding the 2 remaining windows in the living room, so we can get them sealed today.
Josh and V came home, and then we immediately went to work... You guys are going to love this... Well, maybe?
So, in the end we decided to do the carpet.
Again - another one of my long, explaining stories... When we purchased this house - we wanted an old house that we could work on and make our own. Sadly, the people we purchased it from were very good at hiding it's flaws. We had it inspected twice, and both times, it passed.
One of the issues we discovered, was a corner of our living room had fallen... It's quite strange. From what we can tell - it fell a long time ago - decades ago... The reason this was never discovered when we had the house inspected, was that they had a huge entertainment center in this corner, and from under the house - there is NO way to access this area, because we have a cistern under this room. I never knew what a cistern was, until we looked at this house. Essentially - before city water - people would collect water from their rain gutters, into a rain barrel... Some people were lucky and had cisterns to hold water, our cistern is a half level under the basement. So, we have to climb down into it from our basement. Does that make sense? It is totally dry now, we don't have any of our gutters hooked up to it - I supposed we could, if we wanted to? But we just use it for dry storage for things we don't need often, because it's kind of a pain to get down in there.
Anyways - what does this cistern have to do with our living room? Well, it's directly under the living room - and because it has a domed ceiling, the domed ceiling is too close to our floor joists for a person to get through there to inspect, or to jack up this corner of the house. The way this corner fell - it is solid now... You can jump on it and it doesn't move... Which leads us to believe that it happened many years ago or many decades ago.
See... Creepy cistern...
Anyways... The only way to really fix this corner of the house, is to "frame" it from the top of the floor... See... It drops 2.5" with in 3 feet! To be honest, we knew this area of the floor was lower - but until we got the carpet and pad out of there, we couldn't accurately tell how bad it was. See, I still have green walls here... this is where the TV was.
Really crazy, isn't it. It really makes me feel foolish now... How were we supposed to know? We did everything right before we purchased this house... It comes down to dishonest sellers, and possibly - not one - but two incompetent inspectors.... But I try not to blame the inspectors - because it's impossible to crawl through there to get to that side of the house to look at the foundation/floor joists. Believe me, we have tried.
Anyways - the only thing we can really do, is to move forward. So, Josh reframed the floor from the top, shimmed it in places... It's still not 100% level, as we discovered yesterday - by making this corner level, it made other areas of the floor off... So, he did the very best he could, and it's way better than what it was.
And then the other part of the room...
So... We are almost ready for carpet when it arrives....
On our to-do list for today... We will do the first coat of clear poly on the other 2 windows... We will paint the baseboard trim - so we don't have to mess with painting after the new carpet is installed... We also have to paint the last little bit of remaining wall where it's still green... And we have to put a fresh coat of paint on the crown molding. Then I think we are done until our carpet comes in - which should be Monday or Tuesday.
I am *hoping* to be completely DONE with this project before the weekend. Josh plans to take a day off of work one day this week to lay the carpet.
Because... I cannot believe I am posting this... but this is the current state of my kitchen/dining room... It's a disaster! Tools, boxes and furniture everywhere! We can't eat, we can't cook... I just cannot even stand to walk through this room right now - it drives me insane!
I am escaping reality right now, by spending all of my time on Pinterest - when I am not working on the living toom - pretending that my house looks just as good as the houses on there. LOL
Anyways... I hope you all have an amazing day today!!! I hope your weather is beautiful and you are able to enjoy your day!
D~
