~~ They're leaving the nest, sew it's time for a trip - or two - or three...~~ D~'s bag ~9/22 ~~

A super nice lady was helping us - and she was able to dig and find THREE panels - all of them $14.99! :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo: Doing the math - this is an extra panel for less than half the price I was going to pay for two full price ones. I was so excited! So, Allison and I took this time to look around the store some more - hunting down all of the clearance sections like pros. ::yes:: I found 4 large candle sticks - various colors/sizes/shapes for less than $25 total. I was so excited! I will be able to use these in various places around the living room. Oh - and then I had a coupon for 10% off my entire purchase... I was outta there in under $70. :woohoo:
Wow! You have had such great luck with savings! What a bargin.
Sadly - no curtains at all... but I did find an amazing lantern - I've always wanted one to decorate with... It was regular price $100, and I found it on clearance for $15!!!! :woohoo: That baby was MINE! LOL Then - I was also able to use my 10% off coupon again. If you are keeping track, I am still $15 under budget.
Ooh I love lanterns too! Makes me think of Tangled:rotfl::goodvibes But the fact that you got it so cheap - AWESOME!:thumbsup2

Sounds like you and Allison had a sucessful shopping day. Mother/Daughter errands are always so much fun.:goodvibes
V had an awesome first day at college - she LOVES it! I am so excited for her!
This is so great! Makes me so happy to hear!:goodvibes

I really love the curtains. Such a beautiful pattern and seem like they would brighten up any room!
Great progress! You must feel happy to have gotten a lot done this weekend!:thumbsup2

What an adventure! But totally worth it, those are some excellent deals!!! And I LOVE the curtains!! It gives you so many different options with decor.

The trim looks great, kudos to Josh. I love the little accent pieces in the corners too.

Thanks - I am so excited about the curtains... I am a little worried that they are a little too fancy for our style - but I've always loved paisley prints, and with these colors - I will be able to work almost any color into our room. So, I am pretty excited for this.

Thanks - he did a great job. With old houses - there are always so many variables to work around, so he is constantly having to adapt and make things work - even "easy" projects like this end up with a few headaches... So, it's just great to have it done! :woohoo:

How great that you found the curtains you wanted and all the other stuff on sale
Did you get a 4th panel?
I can't wait to see the finished room.

I'm glad to hear V had an awesome day at college. Crossing my fingers that it will continue that way.

I can totally understand that you are beyond thrilled about getting trim on the window.

I'm sure the other half of the room will be as nice as the part you have finished.

What a bummer that your coffee pot died. But it was perfect timing that it died after it brewed your morning coffee.

The ice cream I made last night is delicious. I only took a bite of it because we are having it tomorrow. I really don't want to share it with my guest today. It's so good I want it all for myself LOL I know I'm mean.
Today I'm finishing the cake I started on yesterday that I'm going to share with my guests today. And then I have to set the table so everything is ready when my guests arrives.

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you have a great day today! :woohoo:

I did not get a 4th panel... I really only needed 2... The 3rd one is nice to have - then I have fabric if I want to add it in somewhere else. If I would have gotten a 4th panel, I would have just doubled them up on the rod to make it look more full. So, I really can do with out that 4th panel. ::yes::

Thanks - V is pretty excited about it, and I am thrilled for her!

I am so HAPPY to have the windows done - it was literally a very inexpensive project - and one that only took us a few hours to do... It's kind of annoying that it took us so many year to get to it. Oh well - just very grateful to Josh for getting it done and making it look great. :thumbsup2

Hehehe... I'd have a hard time sharing the ice cream too... It looks delicious! ::yes::

I hope you had a great party! I can't wait to hear about it!

Great job on the curtain panels. Don't you just love when you get a good deal?!?! Knowing you got such a good deal is going to make you love the curtains even more. I love Pier 1. I have quite a few things in my house from that store. Reading about all the good deals you found makes me want to go there and look for some new accent pieces; I need to change some things in my family room.

I hope you have a great day!

Thanks! Yah - I was thrilled with the deal I got... I was just shocked that I was able to find them. Yah - believe it or not, I've never been to Pier 1, not once... So, yah - I have a feeling I will be spending a lot of time in there in the future... They have some pretty good clearance deals, IMO.

Thanks - same to you! :lovestruc

I'm glad you found the curtains you were looking for and that the looked as good as you thought they would in person. The fact that they were on sale is even better. You'll find something to do with the extra panel. It seems that whenever I buy curtains I have to hem them.
Your window is looking good. Hopefully you guys get more done today.
About the adr's, I remember SciFi, Kona, Liberty Tree and Cape May for breakfast. She made some others but I don't remember what they were. My son-in-law is a very fussy eater so it's hard to find places he'll eat at.
The birthday party went well. The little kids were suprisingly well behaved. My nephew loved almost everything he got. he wasn't thrilled with the clothes.
Enjoy your day
Liz

Thanks - I just really love them. The girls don't like them at all, but - well - I do. Soooo... LOL

Yes - I have to figure out how to hem them now... :scratchin My sewing room isn't that big and to hem something accurately to 90" is going to be fun... I think I will hang them... Then pin them... Then hem them? I have no idea. Maybe I should google it? LOL

Thanks - we were able to get a lot done yesterday... I'll write about it below.

Sounds like they were able to get some great ADRs... I love LTT... I am debating on adding it for V's trip? :scratchin

Awwww... Good - I am glad the party went great and your nephew is pleased... LOL about the clothes - most kids are the same way, mine included when they were younger. ::yes::

Thanks - same to you!!!

That is fantastic. You must be relieved that it is finished.

Those are adorable. It really ties the room together.

We have had our daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren visiting us this week. They live 1,000 miles away so I don't see them too often. We've had a great time but our 6 year old granddaughter had a cold. And now I have a cold. But it was worth it.

We had the same kind of weather you had, with the blizzard, then the sun, then the rain. Our guests would have preferred a little more sun. Our son-in-law asked how we can stand all this cloudy weather and we said that this was why we always went to WDW in the winter time, to escape the gloom.

Yes - I am beyond thrilled... I just cannot even express myself about it. :woohoo:

Thanks - I am so happy I found them, and for such a good price. I am a little worried that they are a bit too formal for our way of life - but I have always loved paisley prints and I just love all of the colors in these. I am doing almost all solids in this room - and this will be one of the only prints, so I think it will be OK? I hope. :scratchin

Yay!!!! I hope you had a great visit... and I hope you are feeling better soon. Did you do anything fun while they were there?

It was crazy - I've never seen anything like it before. ::yes:: I cannot wait for it to warm up!

I hope you have a great day Sue! :lovestruc

Wow! You have had such great luck with savings! What a bargin.

Great progress! You must feel happy to have gotten a lot done this weekend!

Yes - we were very lucky! :woohoo: I was so happy to find those curtains on sale - it really helped with the budget of this project!

This lantern is so cool... I'll try to get a picture of it today - if I remember.

We did - it was a lot of fun and we were very successful.

Thanks - I am a little worried that they are too formal for us, but I love the pattern and the colors, so I am just going to go for it.

Ahhh... It's such a relief to be moving along on this project and to have so much done! I love how it's coming together, and I can't wait to see it finished. We have some great ideas to finish off our kitchen too... So - hopefully we have enough ambition after this, to get that one done, as well. LOL

****************************************************************************************************

I am just so happy with our progress on the living room over the weekend.

Yesterday morning - believe it or not - we started working early. Josh had the last 2 windows completely framed by 10am! :woohoo: Sorry about the strange angles on these photos - it's so difficult to take pictures in this room with no curtains or anything to diffuse the light - and furniture all over - it's just hard.

20160410_105909.jpg

20160410_124025_HDR.jpg

So, once we were done with those windows... I had to empty my Grandmother's China out of the China cabinet, and we moved all of our furniture to the other side of the room. While we were moving it - I came to the realization that I had to find a way to get new carpet into this project budget. Our carpet is truly done for - and with all the new paint and trim - well, it looks even more terrible than ever.

Josh went through and did a little bit of patch work to the other wall - not much, but enough that we were at a standstill until it dried.

So, we took this opportunity to run to the store - as we needed to buy a new coffee pot anyways.

At the home improvement store - we chatted with the carpet guys about our options - since our room is so large. Josh can lay carpet - he hates to do it, but he's done it several times before - so we could save $$ that way. So, our biggest obstacle is getting a carpet piece big enough for our room, with out having a seam, as we do NOT want a seam. I am glad we went in and talked to them... As they do make carpet big enough for our room - it's special order - but they do make it... And I was able to find some to fit our budget. :woohoo: We also spent a good chunk of $$ on the carpet pad - as that is really important too. So, there you have it everyone... Our new carpet is now on order - it should be here sometime next week. This is what I chose - hopefully there is enough variation to "hide" any mishaps... We wanted something a little bit darker than what we currently have... You can also see the paint color we are using - since it's hard to see it in the pictures I've been posting.

20160410_152717.jpg

Sooo... Now that we are working "backwards" a little bit... We are sort-of at a standstill on the living room.

We have baseboards down on one full wall (the bay window wall), and another 3/4 of the other wall... We don't want to pull them up, so we are going to work around those... but we don't want to put any more down. So, kind of stalled there.

But - upon returning home, Josh did put 2 coats of primer on the walls. And now that we know we are getting new carpet - we don't have to be so careful about the paint. ::yes:: We will work on more painting this week. And at some point - I am going to have to pack up everything in that curio cabinet (UGH!!!!), because it's just too heavy to move all the way into the kitchen/dining area if it's full. So, that will be my fun project this week.

Oh and we did find a coffee pot while we were out n' about yesterday... So, I am all caffeinated today. :woohoo:

Today - it's back to life...

I will work out as soon as the girls are on the bus.

Then I will be working upstairs all day... I have a lot to get done today, so I need to be efficient up there.

I remember, several years ago - a friend told me that "you never get more accomplished on your house than when your kids graduate from high school"... And boy is that the truth. LOL At least we are doing it now, rather than when we decide to sell - and we will have time to enjoy it for a while. :thumbsup2

I am also getting excited to update you all on V's Disney trip... Gah... But I have to wait until the end of April to do that. ::yes::

I hope you all have a wonderful day! Pixie Dust to all! :lovestruc

D~

:dogdance: Yeah for productive weekends! The new carpet looks great too. Maybe I need to get my husband to learn how to do carpet next to save us some money? :-) We definitely have some areas in our house that could use new carpet after nearly 15 years. Our upstairs is all carpet and the cats have torn up corners of it at the thresholds of several of the bedrooms trying to either get in or out of a room with the door closed. It's pretty bad.

Can't wait to see all of your finished rooms. Wish we had the time for a few more home projects. I have doors and trim that have needed painting for years and I have yet to get around to it. Maybe once the weather warms up a bit more I'll get to it. We had both a new front and back door installed and while I painted the outside of the front door (since it faces the street and can't make the HOA people mad) I have never gotten around to the inside of it or any of the back door at all. One of these days maybe.

Oh I can't wait to see the furniture you paint!!chalk painting can really become addicting. We've done quite a few pieces so far and I really love that you can use old, mismatched junky furniture and make it into matching pieces. We had an old 1970's ugly entertainment center that we chalk painted for our play room. We did the guest room and we recently repainted our old IKEA desk and mismatched filing cabinets in our office. Like i said. The paint is pricey but a little goes a long way and it is worth it. Yay on the weight loss. I really need to get in gear. I was on a 2 week stretch of walking and two bad nights of sleep and bam, no more getting up early. It is just soooo hard to get up at 4:45 am! How exciting for Allison's trip. What an adventure!!

First of all HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! I hope you have a great day today! :woohoo:
Thank you very much

My birthday party went well. I served cake that Ulf and I made, coffee, tea and soda. So everyone got what they liked to drink :)
We were 6 people. My mother, my brother, my grandmother, my aunt, Ulf and I. My dad is still in the USA, he is coming home today. As birthday presents I've whished for money and that was what I got from everyone :)
We had cake and chatted for about 2 1\2 hours. Then everyone went home and it was time to clean up. It was a nice party.

Today Ulf and I are having a nice dinner and home made blueberry pie with home made ice cream. I can't wait.

I really like the new carpet! It's great you were able to get a good deal on it! The windows look so nice as well!

I love, love, love your curtains! Those are gorgeous!!! And even better that you got such a great deal on them, and the rest of your décor finds. :-)

What a great opportunity for V -- congratulations to her! The artwork you've shared here that she has done is really beautiful. She's very talented.

You curtains looks great.
I think it would be fine to do one wall of the kitchen in the same color as the living room. One wall of my living room is different than the rest because it ties in with the entry/dining area. My mom has one wall in her family room (with a huge fireplace) a red color with the three other walls a tan. It makes a nice accent I think.
Good luck, I don't mind painting but I hate cleaning brushes.
Heidi

Your living room is really coming together! YAY for the new carpet!!!! You will just fall in love with your home over again. So happy for you!!!

I really like those curtains you bought! The colours are so pretty...you'll have lots to work with when picking out throw pillows and other accessories. In regards to hemming them- I'd hang one panel, figure out how long you want them to be and then mark/pin one spot(hemmed length). Use that one pinned spot as a guideline as to how much you need to turn them up? It's just like hemming pants...but on a much larger scale! If it were me, I'd do all the pinning/cutting somewhere where you can lay the curtains out on a floor...bedroom, kitchen, wherever, so all you have to do once you get to your sewing room is sew the huge panels. I don't have a sewing room and I live in a small apartment, so everywhere is my sewing area and the floor is my cutting table!

Thanks! I am excited about it - not excited to have another job to do, and moving all of the furniture out of the room... But I know it will look awesome when it's done - and fresh... and just nice. So, the sacrifice is worth it. I know I wouldn't make Josh lay the carpet if it was a weird room - but this room is literally a rectangle - there isn't one cut in it that isn't a 90° angle (or close to it, considering the age of this house...) - so I think it should be a fairly simple project - although, they never are. So, we'll see.

We also hope to take the carpet off of our stairs... Our upstairs hallway has this really awesome farmhouse slat board flooring - which I love... We are *hoping* that the stairs under the carpet are traditional farm house stairs... If so, we'd love to paint them and keep them wood... We are fairly certain they are - just by the way they creek when we go up/down them - but as we've learned with this house, we just never know. LOL That's a project for AFTER the kitchen and bathroom. :scratchin

I totally understand... I've had my door for 8 years now, and I've never painted it... It's on my to-do list for before Allison's open house. I am just not sure what color to do it? Possibly dark brown? Because that's the color of the trim on the house? I am open to suggestions here. ::yes::

I am very excited! Josh and I have decided to add a "coffee station" into our kitchen - we have the perfect spot for it, and it would really clean up our kitchen a lot - and take care of a lot of "kitchen issues"... Like the fact that we currently have 2 coffee pots on our counter (one regular coffee pot and one Keurig) plus the little drawer thingy for the K Cups - so all of that could come off and we could move it to the coffee station. Plus all of my mugs - that V has banned me from adding more... All of those would get moved - so that would free up space for more mugs. :lmao: Finally - in my cupboards, I could move the coffee/filters/sugar pourer... All of our coffee stuff could go.... It just seems like a great solution. Buuuuut... The hardest part - is I need to find some sort of "dresser" to use - and this will be tricky... It can't be any wider than 29"... I'd like it to have a cupboard/shelf or a cupboard/drawer combo - but not all 3, because then I don't think there would be enough cupboard room? And the best part - I want it to be "vintage" and made with real wood - I want it to have a certain "look", but I don't know what that look is? LOL I feel like I'll know it if I see it. My budget for this item is $20 - LOL - I'd be willing to do -$50, but it would have to be the right piece. Wish me luck. LOL Of course - then I will paint it... Not sure what color/colors yet? :scratchin Yes - I can see where this could get so addicting! ::yes::

Get back out there girl!!! I know it's hard sometimes... I know I had an icky eating day yesterday... So, rather than sulk for days - I need to get right back at it, or I lose momentum fast. Planning for a good eating day today is key for me. :thumbsup2 You've got this! :woohoo:

I am so excited for her - and a little bit jealous... The things they are talking about doing - swoon... I can only dream. :lovestruc She will come home a traveled girl - I am sure.

Looks like you got a lot done in the living room yesterday. The window looks great.
How great that you could get a carpet big enough for your room so you don't have to have a seam. The carpet looks nice. I can't wait to see how the room will look when you're all done.

We did - it's so nice to be making progress! :woohoo:

I know - I cannot wait to see it finished too... My brain knows what it will look like - now hopefully it looks that good. LOL Trying to plan out what to put on the walls is no easy task.

It sounds like you had a wonderful birthday celebration!!!! And the food sounds great too... I saw your blueberry pie and ice cream picture on FB last night - it looks like it turned out delicious! :lovestruc I hope the rest of your birthday was fantastic!

I really like the new carpet! It's great you were able to get a good deal on it! The windows look so nice as well!

Thanks - I am very excited to get it installed! :woohoo: But we have a LOT of work ahead of us to get us to that point. It will be another full weekend project - for sure!

I love, love, love your curtains! Those are gorgeous!!! And even better that you got such a great deal on them, and the rest of your décor finds.

What a great opportunity for V -- congratulations to her! The artwork you've shared here that she has done is really beautiful. She's very talented.

Thank you - I am very excited about them, and I am even more excited that I was able to get them at a reasonable price... I really had to make a priority list to fit the carpet project into the budget - and I am starting to get nervous that this is costing us more than I wanted it to... So, it was nice to be able to find curtains reasonably - and for them to be the ones I really wanted was even better. :thumbsup2

I am very excited to put it all together though... I think this room will be so inviting and comfortable once we are done - and I cannot wait! :woohoo:

I know - I am so excited for this opportunity for her... The class she is taking now is on Photoshop - so really nothing that hones her art "skills" per say - but something she needs to learn to be proficient in that field - so it's a good class to have.

I hope you have a great day!

You curtains looks great.

Heidi

Thanks Heidi!

Currently - I have lots of colors in our house - LOL And many "accent walls" - so I don't mind having walls different colors in different rooms.... My concern is using the same color of paint in two different rooms... Just wondering if I really should do two different colors, to separate the rooms from each other? :scratchin Even if I just go a shade or two darker? I have not decided on this yet... but I am leaning towards it. I do know that I want the walls in question to be a lighter color, because my kitchen accent wall is red, but that's all I know for sure at the moment. :)

Hahaha... Josh does most of the painting - even though I love doing it, he is much better at it than I am. ::yes:: And he does all of the clean up too - because he is picky about his brushes. Which is fine with me. ::yes::

Your living room is really coming together! YAY for the new carpet!!!! You will just fall in love with your home over again. So happy for you!!!

Thanks - I can't wait to fall in love with my home... I am not sure that I've ever been in love with it? :scratchin It just seems like one endless/unfinished project all of the time - and I cannot wait to have ONE room completely finished on the main living level... However, due to the carpet - unless we receive some unexpected cash from somewhere - I've had to give up the new ceiling fan... Soooo - I guess it won't be completely done until that is replaced... but that's something that can easily be done at a later date. It's just such a relief to me, to finally be working on these projects again and have a light at the end of the tunnel. I am very excited to be able to share the end result with you all!

I really like those curtains you bought! The colours are so pretty...you'll have lots to work with when picking out throw pillows and other accessories. In regards to hemming them- I'd hang one panel, figure out how long you want them to be and then mark/pin one spot(hemmed length). Thank you - I really love all of the colors! I am trying hard to only pull a few colors out of it, as main accent colors... But it's hard. LOL

Yes - that is how I was planning to do it... LOL I may just hang both panels, just to get them accurate - since this is an old house - and the floors are varying levels - I may have to have varying lengths of curtains too. LOL Thanks for the tips! :)

I totally understand that - before I had a sewing room, I had to sew at my dining room table... It was terrible. I am so thankful to have a dedicated room - even if it is small. ::yes::

*************************************************************************************************

Another day - another project - it seems... LOL

We are doing our best to focus on the project at hand, and not think about what we want to still accomplish. With almost every previous project - this is what derails us and keeps us from actually completing it successfully... Typically, we start on a project, but then we keep adding to it and adding to it - most times out of necessity... And one of two things usually happens... A) we run out of money (again, we do ALL work on our house with cash, not credit), or B) we run out of motivation. Usually it's a combo of both.

So, this time around - I am being diligent about sticking to our budget, and getting rid of non-essential items, in order to have enough money to finish the project.... I am also being very strict about focusing on the room at hand, so we don't wander off to working on the kitchen before the living room is completed. This is very hard for both of us - since there is soooo much we want to do.

It's looking more and more like we will have to lay down a layer of 3/4" plywood under the carpet... This house is very complicated sometimes - with it being 125+ years old things like this happen - most times, when we have plans to do one thing, several other things have to be added just to make it a job done right. This is one of those times... And since we will have the carpet up - it only makes sense. Of course, this again adds more expense to the project (in this case - I am giving up the new ceiling fans in both the living room and dining area to cover this cost). But whatever - it will look nice when we are done.

So, yesterday - we did do a bit of work on the living room... I was able to partially clean out the curio cabinet (I need to get more boxes from work tomorrow) and I was also able to clean the board games out of the bottom of the China hutch. Josh painted the first coat of paint on the 3rd wall and part of the 4th wall... And it looks like a full 2nd coat won't be necessary - just a few touch ups. So, the only part of the room where there is still the old green paint on the walls is directly behind the TV - as we have not taken that off of the wall yet.

I have my meeting tonight - so nothing will get done on the project tonight.

And we have other things going on either Wed or Thurs night - I can't remember which. :scratchin

But by the end of the week, we plan to have the living room completely emptied into various other rooms of the house - mostly the kitchen and dining room. It will be a true disaster!

In talking about our endless projects... And me with my grand ideas of Pinterest surfing.... (copied from above) I've decided that I want to add a Coffee Station" into our kitchen - we have the perfect spot for it, it would really clean up our kitchen a lot - and take care of a lot of "kitchen issues"... :scratchin Yes - I can see where this furniture painting could get so addicting! ::yes:: Here are a few Pinterest photos which have "the look" I am hoping for... And I love that shelf, but it's 32" wide - so I won't be able to use it in the space I am planning... Which means, I will have to improvise - something similar to the first photo.

And in the spirit of keeping this post on the "Disney topic" - I hope to add a graphic similar to this on the wall here...

Then I can display my little Starbucks Disney mug ornaments in this area too... :lovestruc

So... Even though I've agreed not to go off on other adventures - I am still on the lookout for a piece of furniture that I can use in this space. That's all I am allowed to do with this side project at the moment.

Today... Well, I will be working all day. I have to pick the girls up for school - I have my Tuesday meeting tonight. So, it will be a crazy day of work and running around... Hopefully stopping at a few Goodwills/Salvation Armys to look for some sort of cabinet to use in the above coffee space. :thumbsup2

I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!! Lots of Pixie Dust to you all! :lovestruc

Boy have you been busy! So glad that the house re-modeling is coming along nicely. Just love the curtains you purchase and the bargain you got. Just LOVE getting a bargain; especially when its a big project. Don't worry about the curtains being too fancy for you. Once it's all pulled together it will look FABULOUS!! You have such an eye for putting things together. It will be perfect!

So happy and excited for V. Plus the fact that she can go for free one class every quarter. That's will be a huge savings and to be able to have a few classes under her belt before she even starts her college years is awesome.

It will be awesome if Allison can do live updates on her trip this summer. I am really excited that she will have this opportunity. Wish I had that chance when I was her age.

This morning we woke up to no electric and it was pouring. Hooked up the generator, hit the switch for it to power up the house and it died. :confused3 After several attempts it stayed on. Dad will be working on it to see what the issue is. We haven't used it in a while. I am just hoping it was just from dirt in the lines. I laughed about your "blizzard" and flip flops. We still are not having any spring weather here. It's been at least 20 degrees colder and chance of snow, but the forecast seems to be changing by the end of the week . It looks like spring is finally going to appear. Fingers crossed!

As for your coffee corner. I know you aren't going to go out and look for one, but as spring arrives around here people are getting rid of many pieces of furniture or possibly find something at goodwill. I see the things that people find and re-finish them. I bought my daughters vintage bedroom set at a huge yard sale for $75. Two twin beds, two night stands and a dresser with mirror. Brought it home gave it a good cleaning and re-finishing. Plus the fact it was real wood and my parents had a matching additional dresser for her was an added bonus. Never know what you will find. I know you are just itching to get some paint in your paints :rotfl2:

Have a wonderful day!

This sounds like a good plan.

A Coffee Station sounds like a good idea.

I had a nice birthday yesterday. The dinner Ulf and I made was delicious and the home made blueberry pie with home made ice cream was delicious as well.
I planned to go out and take my electric wheel for my wheelchair out for a test drive today. But it started to snow, so I ended up not testing it. The plan now is to take it for a test drive tomorrow.

I hope you can find the piece that you need for the coffee cabinet. I was thinking that a nightstand might be 29" wide, or even a small desk.

Even though I am not a coffee drinker (I know, the horror!) those coffee stations are great! I should have put a catch all type station in our kitchen, although the perfect place now houses an empty dog crate for the dog that would have been. Hmmm, now you've got me thinking. I wonder how I can fit something like that in my house. Good luck with getting everything done. The house truly has to become a disaster for one room which is such a pain but in the end, it will be worth it. Just wish you had that fast forward button though

Finally getting caught up on the Dis, I LOVE your living room it looks amazing! Funny we are doing the same thing in our kitchen a coffee spot!
A will have an amazing time in Europe. and congrats on your extra day!!!

I just caught up reading from last week. My Grandma lost her battle with Alzheimer's last week, which totally derailed all normality in my life. I'm back at school and trying to get caught up everywhere with all of my planning and instruction, etc. Our house is a disaster, too :( UGH. Getting some reading done on the DIS has been a nice little break from the chaos of everything else!!!

I love how your front room is coming together, and think the making throw pillows out of the extra curtain panel is an awesome idea for tying everything together!

If we drank coffee in my house, I would totally do a coffee nook!! The ones you posted are absolutely adorable (but yours will be better because of the decal!) I guess in my house I would need to have a Beer nook?! :)

Today after my therapy riding Ulf and I went out in the snowy weather to try my new electrical wheel for my wheelchair. We have decided to take it with us when we fly to Helsinki, Finland in 3 weeks. So when I got home I called the airline to check what we have to do to get the battery with us on the plane. The answer I got was that I couldn't take it with me and had to send it as freight. :furious: I then called the company that delivered the wheel and asked them. They told me that it was not true and that it was just a waste of time calling the call center for the airline because they have no idea how this is done. The man on the phone then asked me when I was traveling and I said in 3 weeks so we still have time to figure this out. He then advised me to go to the airport and talk to the people that handle this stuff there. Show them the battery and then they should know how I have to do this. So the plan now is to drive to the airport tomorrow and have a talk with them.

I got Ulf to take a photo of me when we were outside testing the wheel
