Atchley,
It seems that you are now an official "Lodger." We used to be Poly/POR loyalists until we stayed at the Lodge in 2006. We will be leaving for the WL in one week. This will be our third consecutive trip to our favorite resort. Kungaloosh!!!

:goodvibes :goodvibes

We didn't get to be a flag family during our stay (if we were staying one more day we could have darn it) but we did get to decorate the cookies in Roaring Forks, the kids went to the Cubs Den in the afternoon and made a craft, there were games on the beach for kids but mine chose to swim instead. There were a lot of activities for kids to do at this resort. My DD loved the waterslide in the pool. We rented a surrey bike for a bit. If anyone is thinking about doing this, it is really great to do ONCE! My body hurt in places I didn't know it could hurt when we were done. My DH and I had to do all the pedaling as neither of our kids were tall enough to reach the peddles. We had to rent a four person bike though because they were too big to sit in the small seat up front.

On a side note, on our first day at MK we had just purchased some fudge at the confectionery and decided to sit outside the hat store and eat it when a gentleman from the barbershop quartet came up and started talking to us. He asked where we were from and about the kids. He then asked if the kids knew the Pledge of Alligence. I said yes and he asked them to say the Pledge while they were doing the flag lowering that day. We were all very excited. Well turns out that the cordless microphone was not working that day so they didn't get to do it, but the barbershop quartet did sing a song just to them on Main Street for wanting to help them out and being understanding about it. (I'm sorry I am rambling on. Maybe I need to write a trip report. I just don't feel that my life is exciting enough to have someone read a whole weeks worth of it.)

Wow! I finally made it through the whole thread. My family is planning on going in May with my mom. My kids are already excited. We saw the episode on Jon & Kate plus 8 where they go to WDW and they stayed at WL. Seeing the footage really made me and the kids excited.

Right now we have 2 standard view rooms books, but we're thinking about booking the deluxe room instead. It's about $400 more. I'm a little concerned that it won't be enough space, but I love the thought of getting a better view and being club level. Any thoughts?

Just curious-does the club level still serve that delicious sourdough bread in the afternoon? Any new and interesting things being served during the day?

Hi all,

I have booked a Deluxe Room and as we all know these now include Club Level. My question is when we arrive do we tell the security at the gate that we are club level, or do we wait until we have pulled up and tell the valet people there OR do we tell Bell Services in the lobby? lol

Thanks in advance!!

Hope This Helps & When Do U Go???

We recently returned from a trip to WL. (Okay it was almost two weeks ago but I've been busy.) We absolutly loved it! I can see why so many people choose to go back there again and again. We are already planning a return visit for 2009. Everything about the resort was magical. We ate at WCC twice. (Breakfast and Dinner) I loved the boats to and from MK and CR and FW. We were on the fourth floor North Wing. Not the most incredible view as it was over the service area and you could see the smokehouse out back (Which is why we ate at WCC twice. It smelled wonderful.) but we got to watch Wishes every night from our room and we could see the monorail travel by from time to time. Next time we go we are planning two days at the resort instead of our usual one day. Our vacations keep getting better and better every time and WL was definetly worth the extra money we paid to stay there. If anyone is hesitating about WL, don't. I hope to become a repeat customer very, very soon.

Was your room a Standard or Woods View?

Hi DISboards newbie here. I have been a quiet reader (I don't want to say 'lurker' that sounds creepy) for about a year now and have to say this site proved so far beyond helpful in my planning, more so than any book I had read or even the travel agent! All the helpful information/experiences shared here just can't be beat. I used the information in planning my WL stay in December 2007 and am checking it again for my WL stay in December 2008. Thanks again to everyone on this thread for sharing your knowledge.

I was nervous at first when I was planning my trip in 2007 as it would be my family's first visit at the WL. I wasn't sure at all I would like a FL visit without the 'FL feel' ie palm trees, etc. Wow, I definitely have a new favorite - it by far surpassed all my expectations. I have yet to really find a picture that does it justice, imho. Each night we came 'home' it really felt like we were coming home. We had a wonderful room with a nightly viewing of the Wishes Fireworks show every night, and the Resort CM's were absolutely top notch! Anyone reluctant to stay here, definitely stay here I really don't think you'd regret it.

Dare I call myself a 'Loghead'? Do they still use that term?

:santa: is it December yet?

We arrive on the 08/24 and I got this email as well, and when I replied they basically said the same thing, lol....Its just I've read people have been greeted right by their cars and escorted up to club level check-in? Well I guess we'll mention it to security when we arrive and then if no one is there i'll let bell services know

Hi there, I was hoping you WL could help me out. I am thinking of making an early ADR around eight am at Whispering Canyon Cafe on our last morning so that we can explore the resort and have a nice meal before we board the plane. I was wondering what's the best way to get there from the All Stars? Would I take a bus to the MK, then board a ferry across to WL? What time do the ferries start running? Would I have enough time to take the bus/ferry over, eat breakfast at nine, travel back to the All Stars and be back there by eleven? I'd love to see the WL, and I'll only be at WDW for four whole days. I figured this might be my only chance...

We decided to book a last minute trip just before school starts back and we were able to snag an AP rate for a courtyard view w/bunk beds at WL. I've stayed at many properties on site (Poly, ASSp, POFQ, Disney Inn, BC, BWV, AKL, YC) but never WL. We kind of got stuck on the Epcot resorts because we love the location and the CMs at YC. Does anyone have any advice for a family who usually stays in the Epcot area? We're really looking forward to this and hope we like the WL. My DH really wanted to stay here.

I am sure I read this somewhere in this thread, but now I cannot find it. Are the VWL Studios the same size (356 sq ft) as a Standard Courtyard view room at the lodge?

John :wizard:

Last week, I went to AAA to try to book a room (well actually wanted a deluxe room, but I wouldve taken anything) and the lady said that the WL was entirely booked!! I wanted it for the week of 12/7-12/13 and this is supposed to be a 'value week' because it's supposed to be slower. I was completely surprised and disappointed that there wasn't a single room to be had in that massive lodge... I'm going to keep checking to see if they had any openings, but I'm so disappointed that I won't be spending my vacation here...

Maybe there just aren't any rooms with the AAA discount? I know those are limited. Perhaps try DU or Small World Vacations and see if they can help.

John :wizard:

The rooms in the WL are all the same size aprrox. 340 sqft. (Standard, Woods and Courtyard view rooms including the Club Level rooms). Of course, this doesn't include the deluxe rooms and suites which are larger. The Studios at the VWL are 356 sqft.
