The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Question: Are all the "regular" rooms adjoining? We went in 2006 and had a woods view BB room with an adjoining room door. The neighbors in that room were extremely noisy (especially at 11:00 at night!). Wondering if I can request a room that doesn't have an adjoining door through to the room next door. Sorry if this has been asked and answered already.

I'm not sure...ask for a non-connecting room, and see what happens. We've found that stuffing a towel under the door can help alot...we had a connecting room in 2007, when my in-laws went with us. They left a day beforw we did and the new neighbors were loud. Stuffing a towel under the door helped some. I think we would have heard them even if we didn't have a connec5ting door though.

My family and I are staying at the Wilderness Lodge for the first time this September and we can’t wait! I have been looking around and can’t seem to find a definitive answer on this one. I know that you can rent sea raycers and pontoon boats, but I was wondering if there are Sailboats available for rent at the Wilderness Lodge? If so, what kind are they and how much do they cost? Has anybody here done this before? Is there enough wind on Bay Lake to make it worth the trouble?

We are staying at WL 11/30-12/7 with DH, me and DS (3). We have a 2-queen bed, courtyard view.

Can anyone give me recommendations of an area/kind of room we should ask for? We were hoping that at night after DS goes to bed DH and I could be ride outside on the patio (is that 1st floor only??) for a little bit if we aren't tired yet.

I've never stayed at WL before so I'm really not sure what the setup is like.. are there pictures somewhere??

Thank you :):)

No sailboats at WL, just the Sea Raycers & Pontoon boats. As far as I know, you can't rent a Sailboat anywhere in WDW....I could be wrong though.

There is a WL photo thread...I'll see if I can find the link and come back and post it. There is also a link to a map with room locations on the 1st page of this thread.

All of the rooms have balconies, but just the first floor has a patio. I prefer Inner Courtyard for a Courtyard view.

I just realized we'll be there at the same time! We check in on 12/5!

What is 'inner courtyard' vs courtyard view?

Courtyard View can be either over looking the inner courtyard/pool area or the Villas/villas pool. IMHO, if I'm going to pay extra for courtyard view, I want inner courtyard. I'd personally rather have a Woodsview room than overlook another biulding. (we'll see if I change my mind after this tripwith a Woodsview room.)

That's fabulous. Thanks so much. How's the heat?:goodvibes

No problem.

It was pretty hot during our trip. We live in Florida and it was hot for us.

The mornings were pleasant and late evenings too.

I would suggest do the parks early morning and late evening. Come back to the resort in the middle of the day to swim or relax and freshen up.

The pools were quite crowded but manageable. There was a pool party everyday from 3pm till 4pm. It was a blast watching the kids. They were having such a wonderful time. The parents too. :thumbsup2

Piglet's Mommy is correct, you cannot rent sail boats on Bay Lake.

I brought home a pricing sheet - Marina hours are 9am to 6pm (boats available around 10am right after water patrol checks the lake).

Sea Racers (32.00 per 1/2 hour, 40.00 per 3/4 hour, 45.00 per 1 hour)
17' Boston Whaler Montauk (45.00 per 1/2 hour)
21' Sun Tracker Pontoon Boat (45.00 per 1/2 hour)

They also have guided fishing excursions and specialty cruises. Sammy Duval Water Sports (407-939-0754) has water skiing, wakeboarding, tubing, parasailing.

If anyone needs any further info, let me know.

See, Thats what I thought, so I called to make a room request (inner courtyard) and the CM told me that all courtyard views face the main pool. I will call again and make sure there is a request on there to face the MAIN pool.
Thanks Piglets Mommy.:thumbsup2

I was guaranteed connecting rooms on the 7th floor concierge...does anyone know where the connecting rooms are located on the 7th floor...are they only courtyard? or main building?? I can not seem to find the answer to this question...;)

That's kinda what I thought, but like I said, there is conflicting information everywhere, including on Disney's own website. They say that you can rent two different types of sail boats and I have even seen pricing info. TGM says you can rent them also. In fact, I think I recall seeing them out on the lake a few years ago. I guess they don't update their websites with the most current info very often.

Thanks for the info.

Hi LodgeLady!

We're making our first trip to the WL on the 23rd. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1. We're staying CL and requested a BB, what views are options, what should I request with a 7 DD?

2. Do you need to make reservations to rent the boats? We're interested in taking one out with another family the week we're there. Is an hour enough time to enjoy ourselves?

Thanks!

I wonder if maybe they have switched the rooms overlooking the villas to woods view? It would be nice if you definately got inner courtyard now if you book courtyard view.

I'm not sure which are connecting, but ALL Club Level rooms are in the main lodge, so no worries there. No CL over in the Villas.

I'm planning on ordering bottles of water to our room using gardengrocer.com. I learned about them reading the unofficial guide to WDW. Has anyone had any experience using them to order groceries or water? Since my DH drinks about a gallon of water daily, I thought buying the water this way will save me money. Plus he'll always have it handy.

Will the refrigerator in the room be able to keep mulitple bottles of water cold?
Is the frig big enough to hold a gallon of water?

Thanks for the info.

We have ordered from Gardengrocer. They are great! Just a thought if your only going to be ordering water..If you are a member of Costco, they ship water free.

I'm so excited..Just realized I'm at the 4 month mark today!!!:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Thanks for the info...I am staying at the lodge...I was just wondering how many connecting rooms they have on club level and where they are located....I am so excited I can not wait..7 more days..:yay:

Just another opinion here...I'd go with the 2 queens....while the bunk bed will be "cool", for a 13 yo, I think you are better off with the queens. He would have fun sleeping there, but would have a hard time sitting up without his head hitting anything on both the top and bottom bunk. Since you have to pay extra for bunkbeds, I just can't see doing that, unless he is really small for his age...It is a standard twin mattress, so he will be comfortable sleeping, but tough for just hanging out in the room.

Thanks for this. This is a very valid point (and he is not small for his age). This thought has made up our mind, to just stick with two queen beds.

I love this site! It is such a great resource when you cannot make up your mind on your own. :)
