The boat ride to the MK is about 10 minutes.

There is a boat directly to the Contemporary so that would be your best bet to get to Chef Mickey's. (Actually it loops between Ft Wilderness, The Contemporary, and WL)

Page one of this thread has all the info you need regarding which boat goes where.

Goid luck! :)

Just to add.... leave yourself plenty of time for the boat ride to the Contemporary. When you have to go to FW first it does add a good deal of time to the ride. We had an ADR at the Cali grill during our last trip. When we got to the boat dock the boat was pulling away from the dock so we just missed it. Next boat didn't come for about 15 minutes. So from the time we got to the dock to the time we checked in at Cali Grill in the Contemporary it was about 50 minutes.

Bump to the front!!!

I'm getting closer! With the new advance check-in system are the odds improved that we get our room location requests?

I agree with PP. The smaller boats that run between FW and CR take awhile. They won't hold a lot of people either. If there are many people in line, you may have to wait for a second boat to come around. And remember that the boat will not empty at each resort. Someone from the CR may be going to FW so they will not leave the boat when it stops at WL.
I actually found it quicker to take the bus (or boat-it will take a little longer) to the Magic Kingdom park and then hop on the monorail to CR. The bus to MK takes little to no time at all and since its course is so short, you don't have to wait long for another bus to come. You can take the boat back to WL since you won't be under any time restraints.
JMO.
Have a great trip.

Does anyone know an official retirement date for Ranger Stan? We've heard he leaves sometime in September....just hoping he will be there Labor Day week.

Can someone please show me on a map where the deluxe/junior suites are located???? Thanks soooo much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just got back from a week long stay at the Lodge! Fabulous trip.

I have some information if anyone needs it.

First - Handicapped Rooms

The handicapped rooms are all on the first floor (with the exception of Club Level). We checked every floor and this is what we found.

Handicapped Room #'s (1015, 1019, 1023, 1027, 1135, 1139, 1143, 1147, 1151, 1155, and 1159). These are all inner courtyard rooms.

I have the August schedule if anyone needs any info.

The following are what movies are playing.

Mondays - Bedtime Stories
Tuesdays - Camp Rock
Wednesdays - Monsters, Inc.
Thursdays - Brother Bear
Friday's - Bolt
Saturdays - High School Musical 3 Senior Year

It states that programs are subject to change and be cancelled due to inclement weather.

It seemed everything was packed. The restaurants weren't too bad unless it started raining and then there was 1 - 2 hour waits and that was with a reservation.

The parks were very full, but do-able. Thinned out in the afternoon but it was so hot I think everyone went back to the resorts. :) Do he parks early morning and then after dinner!

The Lodge was at capacity for the first four days we were there and then it was about 90% full. I found out that the month of August it will be between 95% and 100% full all month. I was told that on August 16th (I think that is the first day of free dining), that they are 100% full with over 500 check in's that day. It was very busy. Lots of families.

The pool was packed every day! Even the villa's pool. People were saving chairs. I have a photo of about 10 chairs a the villa's pool with towels and a sun screen bottle on each of them and no one was in sight. :confused3 I guess they were coming later.

We had an enjoyable time, the Lodge really didn't feel stuffed but it did feel full. We are used to going at off times so it may just be us. It was hard to find chairs in the lobby, but the nooks were empty on the 4th floor and that.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.

I hope its not that full in Sept. My DH and I are sneaking away from the rest of the family for one night there by ourselves. I'm hoping for a relaxing little getaway .

Thanks for the report! I'm glad you had a great time! I can't wait to get back "home" in Dec!

LodgeLady can you please help me? We are leaving in 18 days for WL. I reserved bunk beds woods view. Are there bunk bed rooms on the first floor in the south wing facing the bicycle/jogging path? I am thinking I want to request ground floor facing the path. I want a patio where I can send the kids outside to play straight from the room. Is this the same path that leads to the playground?
thanks for the advice

I have a bunk bed question.

We have one son who will be 13 when we travel. We don't need a bunk bed, but I'm sure he would find it a novelty. We are not sure we want to request a bunk bed, since we might be more comfortable with two bigger beds to lounge on during the day.

So I guess I have two questions....

  • Do the bunk bed rooms have bunks and a queen, or bunks and a king?
  • Would you prefer to have the second big bed to lounge around on, or the added floor space of a bunk bed room?

Bunk bed rooms have bunks and a queen bed. We loved the bunks because we have two boys who would have been horrible together at night! It does make for more floor space. If you don't need the two beds, better off with 2 queens. JMHO. There could be someone who really needs an additional bed. Hope this helps.

Hi there,

The bunk bed rooms are spread out all through out the resort, so yes there will be bunks in the section you are asking about. The only thing is that, I think that section is considered a "courtyard" view.

But, it never hurts to make a request. So, I would go ahead and make it.

I think you will love a patio room along that path. It is so nice in that area. There is lots of grass and room along there.

Good luck!

Just another opinion here...I'd go with the 2 queens....while the bunk bed will be "cool", for a 13 yo, I think you are better off with the queens. He would have fun sleeping there, but would have a hard time sitting up without his head hitting anything on both the top and bottom bunk. Since you have to pay extra for bunkbeds, I just can't see doing that, unless he is really small for his age...It is a standard twin mattress, so he will be comfortable sleeping, but tough for just hanging out in the room.

Question: Are all the "regular" rooms adjoining? We went in 2006 and had a woods view BB room with an adjoining room door. The neighbors in that room were extremely noisy (especially at 11:00 at night!). Wondering if I can request a room that doesn't have an adjoining door through to the room next door. Sorry if this has been asked and answered already.
