The Wilderness Lodge FAQ (Part 6) Simbas and Tiggers and Humphreys OH MY!

Hi LodgeLady!

We're making our first trip to the WL on the 23rd. I have a couple of questions if you don't mind.

1. We're staying CL and requested a BB, what views are options, what should I request with a 7 DD?

2. Do you need to make reservations to rent the boats? We're interested in taking one out with another family the week we're there. Is an hour enough time to enjoy ourselves?

Thanks!

Hey there,

Regarding views, it's really a personal preference. There is of course courtyard view and then you could possibily get a view of the castle (Northwing).

As to the boats - you cannot make reservations to rent the sea racers, boston whaler or the pontoon boats. These are on a first come, first serve basis. Just go down to the boat dock. First thing in the morning, we didn't have any problems getting a pontoon boat.

Now doing the Sammy Duval recreation, you can call and get reservations for that.

Great thread I have a courtyard room booked for one night to celebrate our 5 year anniversary this October - were also dining at Artist Point that night :goodvibes It will be our first time at WL, for the rest of our trip were staying at CSR

Northwing courtyard gives a castle view ? Or woodview northwing? I gotta find that room views thread. Anyone have a link? Or a good room number reccomendation?

I am just finding your thread...thank you for putting in so much time and effort:hug: SO much info--it was an easy sell to my husband:rotfl2:

Just going to ask a question---we are going to book a Standard View room for Jan 6-10, 2010. We want to keep cost down since it will be a short trip. What area do you recomend me to request? We would REALLY like a bunk bed room as well for the kids (ages 6--top bunk and 2---bottom bunk) If you have any specifics, I would love to get the info! My main concern is the noise from boats' horns or trucks that I am reading about. Again---thanks so much!

I think the only views where bunkbeds are available are Woodsview and Courtyard...at least that's what I have been told by a few different CM's when trying to book one. The Bunks are a must for us, but it will send your cost up. For a "quiet" standard room, I'd request upper floor, to be as far as possible from any trucks. As for the boat horns, we even heard them with an Inner Courtyard room in the South wing, so I think that as long as the wind is blowing in the right (or wrong) direction, there's not much you can do about that. If you want bunks, then your least expensive category will be Woodsview Bunk Bed, If you'd rather save the $$, book a standard and request an upper floor, quiet location, and hope for the best. Hope that helps.

I must be wierd, but I find the sound of those boat horns to be so soothing and if i do hear them at all in my room, I smile as it reminds me of the beautiful lake and the reason I am there for the serenity and I LOVE the boats.

Oops, sorry, run on sentence.

Northwing (either woods or standard view) might give you a view of the castle.

I too loved hearing the boat horns in our room the last time we stayed there.

Lou-Ann,

I love those boat horns also!! Makes me know I'm at the Lodge!!! :goodvibes I can listen to them all day.

We just booked our 2010 trip and will be staying at VWL for the first time! We're going May 11-17 and can't wait! I'll definitely be looking over this thread during the next 9 months! SO SO SO excited! I've always wanted to stay here!

Thanks guys! We stayed at the Grand Floridian last year and I also loved the sounds of the boat. I just did not know if the larger boat (MK Boat) at the Wilderness Lodge would make a louder sound. Looks like we will be fine though:thumbsup2 Now for those trucks....haha

It's the beeping sounds that the trucks make that is a bit annoying in my opinion. If your concerned about the noise I would request a room above the check in desk. You will probably not have much of a view...maybe of roof tops from other parts of the lodge..but I think it's probably better than seeing the service area.

We're staying at WL end of January.....do we need reservations for breakfast for Whispering Canyon? We eat breakfast around 7:30 or 8:00am. I'm hoping we can just walk in for breakfast.

I don't think you will have problems for breakfast but I would recommend that you do just like we do at a golf course...plan on 7:15 or 7:45 a.m....believe it or not it is a proven trend that folks show up more on the half hour rather than quarter hour. This way you could avoid a 7:30 rush, etc. Sounds petty but everybit helps. Regardless, I really don't think you would have a problem either way.

Then again, why not be safe and go ahead and make reservations??!!

so glad I found this thread!

my husband and I are leaving in one week for our trip to WL for his birthday. I want to order a cake and have it delivered to our room... would Whispering Canyon do this? My plan was to somehow sneak away from him on our first day there (Monday) and see if I could order a cake for his bday (Thursday) is this possible, or do they need more notice than that? Or are there recommendations for getting a cake from somewhere else? Its just the two of us, so we don't need anything big or elaborate.

Tomorrow will be my 90 day mark!!!:yay::woohoo::yay::woohoo:

Guess I'll be getting up at 6 in the morning...
