~*~The OFFICIAL 2014 Dates Thread - Come Join Us!~*~

We'll be staying at POP. As far as plans, I've loosely planned our itinerary - including meals (still working through those trying to decide between some of our previous 'favorites' and some new places to try). This time, we're venturing out to the dark side for a day... with on big HP fan, we kind of have to... couldn't put it off any longer... lol.

We're planning to fly in around lunch time on that Friday, so we get part of a day at MK then.

So looking forward to it (and, we've only been back from our last trip for 5 months... lol). I love the planning aspect of it too - although, I think that I maybe become obsessed to an insane level.. lol

Thanks for the welcome!! Happy to be here! :)

Edited to add... nice to see others on here that will be in the world at the same time!!! :)

If you're obsessed, then you're in good company! ;)

My trip is now official! While our package is not booked yet, we just booked the airfare. That's what makes a trip official for us, since it's non-refundable! :p

We'll be arriving late on February 22 and flying out late February 28. We'll have a full 5 days in the parks plus a half day on the last day, which is our longest trip yet!

We'll be staying at Pop Century, our home away from home! It will be me, my sister, my BIL, and my niece who will turn 2 on the trip.

I'm in the process of getting my two closest friends to also commit to the trip. Both say they really want to go but will not make a commitment.:( Either way, my sister and BIL are definitely going, so if the friends don't commit I will be added to their reservation. If they do decide to go, we'll make our own.

Yay!

Hey there! :wave2: Welcome to our group! I'll get you added to the February list with POP as your resort - if anything changes, just post and let me know.

Gotta love the non-refundable airfare, huh? Means you have to take the trip! :teeth: :lmao:

So, I just called to make our reservations and the system is down!

Okay - I need a FP+update...when I make my reservations am I going to have to make any decisions regarding this? Or will it be an option I figure out once I am closer to 60 days out?

Nope, you have tons of time on that one.

Trip update, but not our 2014 trip. The 2015 trip will still be a birthday trip but instead of going mid-May for the kids birthdays we'll go end of April and do an offsite trip for DH's birthday. Most importantly, it'll be adults only! Originally the plan was DH and the kids and I and my mom and her husband, we were paying for everything. Mom and I were sort of talking about it in the car yesterday and she suggested that we go and the kids stay home with her for the week. Sounds good to me. We'll probably take them to Great Wolf in Niagara for the weekend for their birthdays instead. DH is dying to make a visit to the dark side and I want to explore WWOHP without having to worry about little people and their needs. :rotfl:

So I feel like you guys are so nice I wanted to share this over here because I'm so stressed out about it all. I posted on the Disabilities thread as well, but I dont know what the responses will be.

My DD has a kidney condition whereby she must use the bathroom every 30 mins to 1 hr. Say we're waiting in line for something and she needs to go. What happens then?

I've read about posted wait times being 20 mins and then the wait becoming a lot longer. So say we need to leave the line, are bathroom line ups typically a longer wait as well? For a long long time my DH took her to the bathroom because Men's lineups are minimal if any. But she is at the age now where she doesn't want to go in the boy's bathroom. (can't blame her!)

Part of me doesn't even want to go, I'm so stressed out about this and worried about her. If she wets herself she is embarrassed at this age as she's 4 1/2.
The last thing I want for her is to wet herself because we can't make it to a bathroom on time due to waiting in a line up.

The happiest place on earth may become not so happy for her very quickly.

What time of year are you going? In our trips, I can only remember having to wait in line for the bathroom a couple of times, and the were both at the same bathrooms (in Epcot - only 2 stalls! And it was late, so illuminations crowds were impacting it as well). We have been during peak times and low crowds and really, bathroom waits have never been a problem. Most have lots of stall so even with a line it goes fairly quickly.

That is a tough situation.
I don't know of anything official you can do but I have seen grown ups and older kids let little ones go ahead as they did the 'dance'.
I hope you only meet those kinds of nice people on your trip.

Thanks. We are going in Feb and I'm sooooo nervous!

Sent from my Samsung S3 using DISBoards

February is pretty low crowds - I think you will be fine with the lines in the restrooms. As far as leaving the line to go, I know as a parent, I would have no problem letting someone come back to their spot on frog of me...I mean, I would see you leave so its not like you jus hung out to avoid waiting line to join your party at the last minute.

This site has pictures of pretty much all the women's rooms, number of stalls and she comments on which ones are particularly busy.

http://www.cassworld.ca/bathrooms.htm

The only ones I remember always being lined up were both in HS, one by MuppetVision and the other one on Sunset Blvd that was set back, it sort of looked like a really wide alleyway with brick arches. I'm sure there are others to avoid, those are just the ones that stick out for me.

The other thing I would do is find out where the companion bathrooms are ahead of time so you can use that if it's closest. I know there's debate about those but I think everyone would agree that this is a true need.

I have been in Feb before and the crowds are really low and I never encountered a wait at a bathroom. As for the lines I am not sure, I do know at that time you will not hit many lines, with the exception of the rides at New Fantasyland. Good luck planning your trip I know how stressful it can be going to a huge place like WDW with a child who has a medical condition. :flower3:

I would look into a GAC card - go to Guest Relations and explain your situation that you may need to get out of line and return to your party. Disney is awesome about taking care of people with health issues. My mom has used this card in the past to help enjoy vacations more (she has many physical health issues)

Also, a CM may be able to escort you to your group when you return through an alt entrance if you explain the situation... Might make it less awkward for you two....

I've never waited more than a few minutes in a busy bathroom line - I would familiarize yourself with all the bathrooms (there is many hidden ones! well they seem hidden) and baby care centers (they have small potties and never a line!)

A lot of restaurants have their own bathrooms - I would use them in a pinch too- no one is going to say no.... Also could you bring a pad or something that you could carry and if you hit that stage where it could be an accident slip it in her pants?

I think if you plan bathroom breaks, a familiarize yourself with the lay outs you will be ok. This was sort of a fear for me last year because my daughter is very afraid of public potties and will hold it an avoid bathrooms until she's at her breaking point (we've only recently moved past this) while hers is emotional and your daughter is physical I understand to a small degree the anxiety it causes, and how the embarrassment for them at this stage of emotional growth is enough for you to consider canceling....

Also, it wouldn't bother me to see a parent with a child tending to a bathroom break!!

Hi Mamabear,

Like a previous poster said, check into the GAC at guest services. You can go into guest services and tell them the situation. They should give you a card for alternate entrances. When you go into the line if you think you are close to a time when she might possibly need to leave the line, explain that to a CM and hopefully they will let your DH move on ahead and you and DD when you come back just join him. If he gets to the ride entrance while you are gone, he should be able to wait while you rejoin him. Disney is super good with working with families that have special needs members. Just explain it to guest relations and they will explain what they can/are able to do to help your family out. Good luck, It should work out well for you. Don't get too worked up about it.
We worried about our son with Autism and next year when we go, it will be his like 11th or 12th trip. He loves it. We have had some issues over the years, but never enough to cancel or leave early. Hope it all goes well for your family! :thumbsup2

Definitely get a GAC card!!!

And ask a CM for help if you need it. 99% of them will go out of their way to help you if you ask.

Our youngest daughter has autism and we always get a GAC card for her, even though we've only had to use it a few times over our last three trips. We just feel better having it with us, should the need arise.

Just stop by Guest Relations at the entrance to any of the 4 parks and ask for one.

Mamabear, I can only echo what the others have said. Definitely look into a GAC card. Visit Guest Services, explain the situation - the worst they can do is say no (though I don't think they will).

Also, make yourself aware of where ALL of the restrooms are in the park ahead of time. You should print out park maps and familiarize yourself with them long in advance. I've never waited in line to go to the bathroom in WDW - never. But I do go during the slower times of year (September) when crowd levels tend to be very low.

Just in case something happens, pack a change of clothing for your daughter.

I won't tell you not to worry, because you will. Just try and plan ahead and be prepared as much as possible - the more prepared you are, the more confident you'll feel, and hopefully you won't worry as much.

Question for you all. With the packages now available for 2014 (except for the month I want to go :( )Do you think if I requested a planning kit/DVD now, would I get 2014 or still get 2013?

I actually enjoy watching the DVD's. But nothing will top the year when they had 4 distinctly different people doing the parks their own way. That was just fun. 1 of them even went on to be a Power Ranger.

Did you end up getting all your ADRs. WE are going in January too and I made our reservations yesterday and even changed some today. Oh the joys of planning.

I keep worrying about MyMagic+/FP+ too and how that might effect our ARDs. I hope the system would see your existing reservations and issue FP times accordingly. Does anyone know more information about that? I don't like not being apply to park hop FP. I am thinking to still do rope drops and then schedule FP for later in the day when we would park hop?

Definitely request a DVD!! That's how you get on the email list for the discount PIN codes that are sent just to your family (versus the ones that are open to the general public)

You would probably still get the 2013 one if you ordered it online. Maybe if you called, you could request the one for 2014, or at least see if it is available yet. :scratchin

The people who are scheduling now have said that when you first pick you get the choice of morning/afternoon/evening but once you pick one of those you can go into each individual FP and change the scheduled time to any of the times available. So you could pick afternoon and then go in and change each one to a time in the morning or evening that works better for you if you wanted to. So as of now it shouldn't be a big deal to get a time that works with your ADR.

If you're park hopping that's exactly how I would do it.
