Anyone go to MK during the day and to a party?

We are thinking of going to MK during the day and going to a party the same day. We have limited park days, so I’m trying to figure out a way to fit everything in. Has anyone done this and is it a bad idea? We will have 6 over 10 years old and a 6 year old. I thought maybe we could arrive a little later then park opening. Maybe go back to the resort for a break and go back to the party.

It will be a long day but if your group can handle it, it works well. We are not ‘take a day’ off people so we did a park, rest, party the same day and worked well for us but we’re used to going hard.

I would recommend a stroller for the 6yo to help them out.

Its not advisable cost wise.

I'd consider going to a different park in the morning and then to the party or I would only plan on going to the party that day. Sleep in, relax, go to Disney Springs and then arrive early for the party as you can enter the park at 4pm.

I've done it many times. You have to pace yourself and plan accordingly, but there are good reasons to give it a go. Park traffic is much slower on party days so it's great to take advantage of that. Also, being inside the park at the overlap time saves you from dealing with the hassle. (You can just get your wristband at the designated location inside the park).

We usually scheduled a table service dinner around 3:30 or 4. That was key to making the plan work. It gave us a chance to sit, rest and regroup. And it filled our stomachs so we weren't tempted to spend precious party time waiting in food lines. After dinner, we would come out and set up camp at one of the high demand meet and greets in advance of party time. We would sit and rest up for the second part of our day.

It worked great for us, but it's not for the faint of heart. It's a long day. But you end up feeling like you own the place by night's end.

We’ve done it with our kids for years from young to ages 19 and 21.

We also have dinner before party time starts.

We don’t take breaks. We never have. Our “breaks” are when we eat meals and snacks and enjoying relaxing rides like Peter Pan and Small World.

I do this all the time - I have an AP so I’m not ‘wasting’ a ticket…I ride all the rides i like, schedule a late lunch/early dinner (usually at Liberty Tree Tavern) and then get my party band within the park and enjoy party specific activities, treats and rides with special overlays or other effects…it lets me enjoy the parade, fireworks,snacks,dance parties and characters without feeling rushed.

We’ve done it in the past (but would return to the resort for a break and to get ready). This year we’re planning to rope drop and will likely rent a locker for the costumes and change later. We want to take advantage of the lower cro de since we will have newbies with us and are not planning to get LLMP while they’re with us. We will have a 13 and 7yo. If we need to go back for a break we will but e plan is to go all day. Will plan to sleep in a tad h to e next morning.

For our September trip we have a few rest hours built into every day. For the day we are doing MNSSHP, we're doing a little EPCOT in the morning (we are staying at Beach Club) with a longer rest/relax time that day. Plan to get to MK around 5pm, then the party. We also have a late start to the next day built in.

THIS! I told my cousin she might consider bringing/renting a stroller for the 7yo in case she gets tired and needs a place to rest/wach parades.

If you can, I would recommend renting a stroller. Many strollers are not intended for older children and are very difficult to push. I rented for my dd and it was great and easy to push even though she was older.

Yes we did this when the kids were young. Depending on how early they got going in the morning we hit MK for EH (30 minutes before park opening now) or a leisurely morning start, and still take a break right after lunch for naps, pool or just a break in A/C.

Days that have a party, attendance is lighter so you often have a more relaxed time until the party guests are able to enter at 4 PM until the park closes early, and the party starts.

Most day guests don't want to spend a day's park ticket for a short day, and needing to leave the park early in the evening.
