I forgot to add that we will be me 36, dh 37, DS 9, and DS 7. I loved the California Grill when we ate there in 97 on our honeymoon, but don't feel its a good place to take the kids! Was hoping the Wave would be open by May. We're already doing Ohana, and many other places but was wondering about the choices at the resort itself. Does anyone like the new set up for the quick service? Any good pictures of a room on the Bay lake side? Our younger son is attached to POP and we're having a hard time convincing him this will be THE GREATEST!!! He has Asperger's and many other issues, and I can picture a meltdown when we pull up. How crazy is that!!!! I'm psyched!!

The initial plan was that Concourse Steakhouse would close on May 10 and The Wave would open on May 11. There have been "rumors" that the opening of The Wave may be delayed until sometimes in June. I haven't seen any info where Disney is accepting ADR's for The Wave yet. There's also been "rumors" that Disney has changed the menu for The Wave. Initially The Wave was to feature an asian menu but if the rumors are correct, the new restaurant's menu will be very similiar to Concourse Steakhouse.
Did any of the rumours say another reason could be a delay in the construction of the Wave, or is it only the things you mentioned?

When your son sees the monorail going thru the resort....your worries (and his) will disappear!! Our autistic 10 year old son would love nothing more than riding all day!!!:thumbsup2

Have a magical time!!

Thank-you for your reply! Our son knows that's the hotel with Chef Mickey's, but he insists that our Florida house is at POP?? I know we will all love it, but I just wanted to show him some pictures of the actual room. I'm hoping the Tempo grab n go has some good options when we are there too!

All the standard rooms look exactly the same. See post #1 for interior pictures of a standard room and bathroom. See post #4 of klofan's view from the Bay Lake side. My DS is on the ASD, so I totally understand! His favorite is the CR, and one reason we ALWAYS stay there. He loves the monorail and Chef Mickey's. Have fun!!! :cool1:

Would you stay in a garden wing room?
The rooms are the same as the Tower, but do not have a balcony. 1st floor has a patio, 2nd and 3rd have a glass slider. The view can be lovely of the lake or a parking lot  . Only real downer to me would not being in the Tower, and the slight walk (5 minutes or so). But if the Tower weren't available, then, YES, I would stay in a Garden Wing room. Personally, I would request Garden view and as close to the Tower as possible. HTH, Kelley.

Just had to say I got the AP rate for our Tower MK view room today!!! Also got it for the Beach Club. In total I saved $909 off the rack rate!!!

Thank-you very much! We look forward to our Disney trip every year, and this year will be extra exciting! I showed both boys the pictures and they think it looks "grown-up" I'm sure they'll love it so much, that no where else will do from then on!! Currently we have a 6-day base ticket, thinking I should upgrade them to an AP to be able to use next year!!!!!! How would I figure out how to do that? Our son, Luke already told his Para at school that he's going to Disney in May, she wants to come too! He told her "we can't stop going...its our reputation!" :rotfl2:

I hope you're right about the menu. It's disappointing enough that they're moving the restaurant off the Concourse, I'd hate to see the menu change, too. Besides, there's already an Asian-influenced menu on the monorail (Kona) and I'm not fond of soy/teriyaki dishes. DH pointed out that it's the only steakhouse among the MK resorts. It would be nice to have at least one place for the meat-and-potato lovers.

Hi, I was wondering what time would DME schedule our departure if our flight out of MCO is at 7:55pm, May22 (Thurs)? We're trying to figure out what we could squeeze out on that last day! :confused3

Based on what I have read about Disney's Magical Express, you are picked up 3 hours before your flight. So in your situation you would be picked up at 4:55 PM. However others have said it's good to be at the Magical Express area 15 minutes before you are to leave.

Both times we've used DME (including once from the CR) pickup was about 3 hours before the flight's scheduled departure time. You'll be notified of the time the day before.

If you plan to use the CR flight check in counter, make sure you check the operating hours. I thought they were only open in the morning (until 1 pm).

I'll figure on 3 hours ahead. thanks! Now we can plan our last day there until about 4:30 ish! I won't want to leave!
