Here's a secret for you - If you want to access the 12th and 14th floor concierge levels, (the 14th is actually called the Club Level) there's one elevator that will allow access without a room key. It's accessible from the Concourse level and 1st floor.

There are 5 elevators in the elevator area. When you're in the elevator area, you'll find this elevator in the row of 4 consecutive elevators. Not the one that's by itself

Now, when you're looking at the 4 consecutive elevators, it's the elevator that is third from the right. Or second from the left.

If you're able to snag that elevator, you can press either the 12th floor or 14th floor buttons without a room key! It'll take you right there!

I believe (not 100% sure) that these special events work differently. I think you are able to book them as soon as the dates are announced:confused3 So I would keep an eye on sight like AllEars, because they post when the dates are out. I think both sets of dates for this year came out somewhat recently, so be watch for this time next year
spaceace510, you are so sweet to answer this, especially since I posted in the wrong thread! Whoops! Thanks for the tip about allears -- I'll bookmark it!

I have a lot more pictures of the Contemporary, not just of the room.
I have pictures from when me and my family ate at The Wave, pictures from both concierge levels (I found a way to both!)

so let me know if anyone wants me to post them. Sorry they're all in rather poor quality, when I uploaded them to photobucket they seemed to deteriorate. They were all taken from my iPhone - which is only 2 megapixels. They look great though... I'll try to upload them to somewhere else and then post.

edit> I'll be posting a lot more photos of the Contemporary shortly. Photos from The Wave, 14th and 12th floors.

By all means, post them! Thank you for the photos of the Hospitality Suite, too! :thumbsup2

If that is true because I have been in all the elevators and for fun I pressed the buttons for the 12th and 14th floors and it never lit up. Also maybe at the time they were doing some working on that specific elevator you were in, or maybe the system for inserting your cards for the 12th and 14th floors was down. So I am just saying if your not a guest of either floor why would you want to go up there, because the Cast Members up there know who are guests staying up there.

I'll have to disagree with you on that one. We got Tower Club and Atrium Club access added by our platinum planner due to a special circumstance while we were staying on a non-concierge floor last Oct. The planner had no idea what we looked like, and while the floor may have been told that there would be 2 extra people using it, they would have had no idea who we were. It really ended up being a blessing in disguise after DH was hospitalized at the beginning of our trip for kidney stones. Having constant access to beverages and some light food options when he wasn't feeling up to leaving the resort was really nice.

Well that's a different situation because you had special circumstance. I also noticed something like that last August. There was this huge gospel singing group that was staying at the Contemporary, some of the guests were staying on the Atrium Club and I found out others were also staying Club Level on the regular floors, however were paying for the service. For example a few times when I was going up to the 12th floor they would come on from another floor and also go up to the lounge. If what joepic posted was true then what if someone who is not a guest there reads it and uses it as an opportunity to sneak up to either floor to get some food or drinks, when they were not staying there or had no special circumstance.

It was working July 28 - 30. I have stayed on both floors and can say that the cast members do not always pay close attention to who enters and exits the level. There are different cast members throughout the day - not every one has seen the entirety of guests.

It's just a quick tip to whoever is curious.

Yesterday I was playing around with some dates for our 2009 trip, and every time I put in some dates, all room categories at the CR showed as available EXCEPT for Tower, Magic Kingdom view. (Atrium Club comes up as available, but not just the regular Tower, MK view rooms.) It seems strange that these rooms would not show as available...I checked dates ranging from January to June before giving up...any of you CR experts know what's up? :confused3

Not sure what dates you're looking for but I just tried 6/7 - 6/13/09 and all room categories at the Contemporary came up as avaliable: Garden Wing Standard, Garden Wing Garden View, Tower Bay Lake, And Tower Theme Park View.

Just thought I'd look for a little encouragement/successful stories here....I've had a Tower Bay Lake View room booked for 1/30/09-2/7/09 since May. Since that time I have been trying to upgrade to a MK View room with no luck (although didn't start really getting seriously about calling every day until this week when 2009 prices/packages came out).

I know that the advice on here has been to keep checking, that something will probably open up, but any good stories from folks who have done this and been successful? Just need a little encouragement to keep up my daily calling :rolleyes1

1st I think it depends on the dates you are planning to stay at the Contemporary. 2nd If it's the Magic Kingdom View that is sold out and all the other rooms are available, maybe it's because it's that popular of a view and sells out very fast.

No, they weren't giving prices on any Tower or wing rooms except atruim, concierge and suites

I booked a 1 bedroom suite for 1/10 -1/16, trying to get 2 Mk view in atrium club that are connecting instead. I finally was told the had rooms, but was told they did not connect. What's going on? I know they have connecting rooms on the 12th floor? Should I try again? :confused3

I've been reading posts for months now so I thought I would answer your question...... We are currently here and the Chef Mickey's Express looks no where close to being done. I asked a cast member in the Tempo when it would be ready and she said September (she also didn't speak a lot of English so I will try someone else), but sadly, I don't think it will be ready by the time you are here.

Thank you for that information and I had guessed it was not be open by the time we arrive. However months ago I told myself I would not be disappointed if it was not open, because I always knew there was a chance of that and when I went to visit the Tempo Grab & Go in December they had a good selection of food. They were still selling the exact same Sandwiches and Salads in the fridges that was sold at the Food & Fun Center and I am sure the other items are not bad.

Tempo's salads are really good as well. I had a chicken Caesar salad and it was huge. For $7.19 it would have been worth it if I weren't on the DDP. They also have really good deli sandwiches - turkey especially.

Ugh..just tried to add a day onto our New Years trip with no luck.

I just need the night of Jan 4th..I am SO wishin I would have gone with my gut and booked it from the get-go!:guilty:

I..of course will keep trying for a cancellation. The CM while encouraging, sounded doubtful though. She said she was really surprised that we got the Tower/Theme Park view at all..so I guess I did that much right!

The pizza really left something to be desired when I was there. That was the only hot lunch item I tried. I mostly used it for breakfast items (muffins, bagels, etc.)

When the Food & Fun Center was open I would always order purchase the Chicken Caesar, because I thought it was great. Plus it had to be their most popular one since it would sell out the fastest and not be re-stocked until the next day. So it's great to see it still being sold at the Tempo Grab & Go.

You never know when someone might cancel, so I wish you good luck.
