Ahoy mateys! I didn't find where a Meet thread had been started for this 14-night WB Panama Canal sailing, so here we go!
(Admins, if there's another thread already, please merge this one or remove it.)

By way of introduction, I'm Cindy D. traveling with DH Gary and our adult sons Nathan and Zachary (who make me a NZDisneymom). We are celebrating Nathan's 30th birthday (early) on this trip. We had a Panama Canal sailing booked in 2020 but of course it was cancelled due to COVID. So when we saw this one was being offered, we jumped at the chance and were fortunate to be able to book connecting cabins on the deck we wanted.

The Magic was our first (and favorite) of DCL's fleet; we've spent many nights on her including several sailing in the Mediterranean, Baltic, and British Isles. It will have been a decade since our last sailing on her (British Isles 2016), so we are excited to set foot back on the ship where we fell in love with cruising in 2005. I've returned here to DisBoards as this is where the cruise meet group took me under their collective wings and helped me be prepared for that first sailing so we didn't miss out on things newbies often don't know about.

All of the ports will be new for us except Cozumel, and it's been quite a while since we were last there. We've also not sailed with as many sea days, so we are looking forward to having some true "down time" for relaxation!

I know there are other places online where fellow passengers hang out, but I hope someone(s) are still here. Looking forward to getting acquainted pre-cruise!

Hi Cindy :)

I'm Christi, traveling with my adult daughter Angel. DH is also currently booked, but most likely will not end up going with us.
My birthday is during the cruise, as well as our anniversary.

Panama Canal is our favorite itinerary. Our first was WBPC 2022 on the Wonder during covid protocols. We also did the Merrytime EBPC 2023 on the Magic. Merrytime is our favorite time to sail, and the Magic is our favorite ship, so the EBPC 2023 has been our favorite cruise.

We've been to all of the ports multiple times, so we plan to stay on the ship on port days. Sea days are our favorites - we enjoyed the WBTA we did last year, but Panama Canal is still the best for us.

We were having a hard time finding a flight home after the WBPC that either wasn't too early, or didn't have an impossibly short connection time, so this week we booked the 4 night on the Wonder that sails the next day. :)

Hi Christi - nice to meet you! I'd love to hear what you all have enjoyed at the port stops.

I have to LOL about your solution of kicking flight time dilemma down the road a few days! Our sons are taking the Friday off before the cruise so we can drive to Houston from Florida. We will split the drive into two days. Then they need 10 work days for the cruise itself. Since we want to get home with a "recovery / delay buffer" day, we have to fly home on Sunday. So 12 days is a lot to ask off at once. [DH and I are retired - I sometimes have retirement-guilt when I get to go do fun stuff but our sons can't join us because of work - even though I know that's how it's supposed to be - their turn will come!]

The good flights with decent connection time for us were also too early; we have a 12:50 to ATL now with an hour connection to get the last flight to our town. This one-way flight planning had me stressed out. But the flight is booked, so as long as the schedule doesn't change to something ridiculous, I think our transportation is all arranged. Still deciding how to get home from the airport as we will arrive pretty late; we may just rent a car for overnight (cheaper than getting an uber to take us to three different places in town).

We are going to stay at the IAH hotel that the cruiseline has arranged as we are also renting a car to get to Houston, so we figured it was easier to return the car there and just stay. And take DCL transportation from the airport hotel to the Port in Galveston.

We are also staying at the IAH hotel & doing DCL transfers.

Sorry I can't help with port activity suggestions - we never do excursions, just walk around the port area, but don't venture far.

Hello Cindy and Christi! So happy that a thread got started here for our cruise. My name is Marni and it will be myself, DH Bill, DD Spencer (15) and hopefully DS Owen (22). The Magic was our first cruise ship ever and she is still my favorite! This will be our fourth WBPC cruise...just love the relaxation! This will be our second PC on the Magic. We could not miss out on the opportunity a couple of years ago after being on the infamous March 2020 PC cruise. Looking forward to chatting more here, and I hope more people find us and join in.

Christi, so sorry to read this morning that your 4 night cruise got cancelled. I hope you find a good option for flights home. We have done various things when in Cozumel, some booked on my own and some through Disney. We have done an all inclusive resort day, swam with dolphins and sea lions and fed manatees, snorkeled and spent sometime with rays. On our first visit we did port adventure CZ46 Three Reef Snorkle through DCL. On our second visit we booked a dolphin excursion on our own. A similar one is CZ04 Dolphin and Manatee Encounter in a National Park All Inclusive. We spent time on our next visit at an all inclusive beach club that we booked on our own. Disney’s CZ15 Cozumel Beach Break for Families is at the same place. Our last time we did CZ64 Everybody Loves Rays! through DCL. We have enjoyed all of them. In Puerto Vallarta we have mainly stayed on the ship. In 2023 we did PV03 Paradise Beach Adventure. They had just been hit by a hurricane prior to our arrival and it got switched to a different resort that was not really set up for that excursion. The first year in Cabo we took the tender in and booked a boat to take us to Lover’s beach at Land’s end. I would not do this again as the beach has been greatly eroded by a large hurricane years ago so getting in and out of the small boats is a little crazy. We did it many years ago and it was much easier/safer. Last year we did my absolute favorite port adventure that we have done in Mexico. It was CL36 The Ultimate Sail and Snorkle. The food provided was amazing. The cruise to the Snorkle spot was relaxing and beautiful. The Snorkle area was not my favorite, but they feed the fish from the boat, so many come right up to you. They had stand up paddle boards to try. They had a photographer who took loads of pictures. You could buy them at the end of the day. I don’t remember how much the photos were, but remember it seemed reasonable. We had a beautiful sail back to Cabo and out past Los Arches and Lands End. It was a beautiful day. I hope some of this helps!

Hi Marni :)

We're booked on the Wonder after the WBPC. :) We did originally consider adding on the b2b on the Magic that was cancelled yesterday.

Hi Marni! Thanks for posting and for the shared information from your experience on a PC cruise!

One of the things I like to do is collect photos of Minnie Mouse in all her various outfits. I hope she has some special ones for this cruise!

My daughter also likes getting the characters in their various outfits. Unfortunately, the Panama cruises haven't been doing any unique outfits like they used to - the Tropical, Mexico, and Beach outfits have all been retired. They do offer some really nice Duos and Group character meets though. :)
