The NEW Disney's Contemporary Resort FAQ with PICTURES! (Feb 2008)

I apologize if this has already been posted.

I just made a ressie for January 2009 and wanted to book tower mk view. All they had left though was atrium club mk view. I had read that views were not guaranteed on the club level so I asked and the lady said it was guaranteed to be a mk view. The nightly rate is $570 before tax. Last year's rate for this type of room was $515. Maybe they have the two views classified now with the mk view being higher?
Unless your confirmation says Atrium Club Theme Park View I would wait until WDW comes out with the 2009 rates, because a lot of times the Cast Members from CRO can be wrong. If what you were told is true then I am sure it would be updated on the 2009 rates list for the Contemporary that you can make a reservation for the Atrium Club with a Magic Kingdom View.

According to another poster on another thread, 2009 rates are in the system just not posted to the web yet. I looked at the WDW site yesterday and all the Rate links are off of the individual hotel sites.

I also pulled my ressie up on the WDW My Vacation link and it says 2 Bedroom Villa as the room type. I am really confused now. It is so much easier when there are fewer choices.

Update: Just got off the phone with CRO and the CM said that I am in a standard room on the atrium level with a MK view. He said that the view is now predetermined (i guess for '09 and beyond) for the atrium level because so many concierge guests wanted to lock in the view before coming.

Thank you for posting that update.

Here are some pictures of the new DVC at CR from the water while we were in the parasailing boat. I hadn't seen any from this vantage point so I thought I'd post these. Also, I'm posting a couple from the new CS construction area since CR Resort Fan 4 Life asked previously about how the area was coming along ...:)

What is the Magical express route from MCO to The CR..how many stops and what resorts? What would be the total time? I am landing at 12:00 noon and we have an ADR @ 1:45pm at the Wave for lunch..just trying to see if we will make it. :)

When I went to WL last September, the DME bus stopped at Poly, GF, WL, and then it was going to the CR. I would say it would be tight.

We just got back Monday and the stops were Poly, GF and then CR, no one was going to WL...:)

Is the Outer Rim closed?????:confused3

Is the Outer Rim closed?????:confused3

I do not know if it's closed now, but I do know that they are closing the current location and moving it do a different part of the 4th floor

It's rumored that the Outer Rim will reopen (in a smaller form) once Mickey's Express is open. It's rumored it will go in the space now occupied by Tempo Grab & Go.

I had booked one night in a standard view, garden wing for April 2009. I had to pay in full at the peak season price b/c 2009 rates weren't out yet. Called today for AAA discount and they didn't have one standard view so I needed to upgrade to garden view, and ended up saving only $14 off what I've already paid.

Can anyone tell me what the garden view includes (pool, lake?)? Should I request a particular spot when I check in?

Also, what do you think the chances are of an upgrade since we're only staying one night? (I ask because this first night is a surprise for my family before we move on to another resort, but I couldn't afford the tower. That being said I do not expect an upgrade nor would I ever make a fuss for one, but would it would be nice ;) ).

Thanks so much for any info!!!

We saw Meet the Robinsons Thurs. night out by the pool. QUOTE]

We will be at CR in one week! This is our first stay there. We thought we would start our vacation with a few days "decompressing" by the pool etc. Do they have outdoor movies every night? Sounds like some extra magic that I wasn't expecting.

Any info on this is appreciated.

Garden view rooms either have views of Bay Lake, the pool, the marina area, or the canal that connects Bay Lake with Seven Seas Lagoon. They are bascially the rooms that don't overlook the parking lot or convention center. Since the garden wing rooms do not have balconies, people often request a first floor room so they will have one of the small patios.

Hopefully the CR experts can give me some advice!! :goodvibes

We are looking to stay at the CR for Jersey Week next year (first week of Nov) and it appears that all that is available are the suites :confused3 We are just looking for a wing room. Is this normal this far in advance??

TIA!

If your having trouble getting a room this far in advance I would say it has to do with a convention group. So my advice is keep trying because eventually a room will become available.
