I love credit cards so much! v7.0 - 2025 (see first page for add'l details)

Follow up question to my Chase difficulty one above ...

I referred my daughter and she was approved for a SWA card. Do I need to wait for those points to post before I cancel/reapply? I suspect I do...

For URs I've read that if it's pending, you'll still get it after canceling. I don't know about SW. Probably safer to wait until it's posted.

You need to wait 30 days after canceling to apply for the same card. If it's a different card, I think only 4 days but I can't find the DP now. The 100k SUB is supposed to end on 9/17.

Well I didnt transfer extra Hawaiian miles and now I need more Hawaiian miles. GRRRR. The only way to get them now is to use my Hawaiian card?

That or open a personal or biz Hawaiian or Alaska card. Or get the flight you want through a different partner. But availability will be different. Or transfer from Marriott at 3:1, so it will take a boatload of points.

I was afraid of that. Pretty mad at myself for not just transferring a bunch. Hawaiian redemption is much lower than anyone else 30k points for a RT flight. My flight it is in under a month and I need the points asap. Hawaiian was the only card that ever required me to mail stuff in before giving me the card. I will look at Marriott and see what I have. My flight is already booked but we are equivalent to 52K points for the same flight.

Since you have the Hawaiian card, people can share miles with you for free. If anyone in your party has straggler HA or Alaska miles, they can get combined into your account. With the Marriott transfer, you also get a 5000 bonus per 60k transferred.

Marriott might actually work well. Chase has 50% bonus so it makes the 3:1 much less painful. With the 5k bonus I will only use 30K UR to get the 21,600 I need for Hawaiian. Thanks!!

Edit: nope I’m wrong. I should’ve used the handy 50% bonus calculator before posting. Still not horrible though to save on a flight for 6 people.

I've had mine for about 4 years, and I"m contemplating doing the same. I just need to figure out whether the bookings I've made for the next month or two are grandfathered for luggage, etc. I want to be in position to go for the companion pass before the end of the year (or roll it into January if they don't change things) Too bad the business card deal sucks, LOL. How difficult has Chase been lately? I'd hate to cancel the card and not get approved for a new one....
If the flights were booked before May 28th you will get the free bags. If not you need a CC to get 1 bag free.
Saw your other question yes you need to keep the card open for the points to go into yourRR account after the statement closes when you see them pending

My mom needs som activity on her Avios. Since we had the snafu of transferring from BA to Aer Lingus way back when, I've always been scared. Hers are currently in Aer Lingus. Is the transfer online pretty easy? We just need to keep those active.

Any recent DP's of when the FNC's are available after meeting MSR for the Boundless SUB? Is it a few days after statement close?
Did you get any DP? Thanks for posting this though. I'm currently at about $4k in spend on the card for my DD. I think I want to stretch it out a bit so we'll have longer to use them in the "cheaper" months for Cancun, LOL.

Sofi Bank is at 40K on Rakuten, I've never done it.. anything I should be concerned about?
I did one and never got the bonus. I sent all the proof, etc. They said there wasn't any bonus attached, blah, blah, blah.

Noticed a string of standard room availability at Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal in early December if anyone was looking to go. It's 190k points now (!) but a good use of FNC.
Do you just stalk them? We really want to go back. But we also loved that the whales were there last time. I guess I better check and see when Delta has nonstop to Cabo, LOL. I have FNCs expiring in December too.

I had a Maxmypoint alert that hit. It wasn't for December, but I was scrolling through the flexible date calendar and saw a bunch of dates available.

I have the $3.99 monthly Maxmypoint subscription that I hope will eventually trigger the USB Triple Cash biz $100 software subscription credit. It comes with 10 alerts instead of just 1 with the free account.

fyi I needed the new card to pay my crazy homeowner's insurance. Last year I had them re run my insurance score so car insurance would go down. Turns out it didn't take effect for all my policies. I had them rerun for hoi and it went down. then I had them change the policy to me being primary and it went down more! all told, about $500 for the year savings. pus correcting our generator from portable to total home.

darn I wish I did this 2 years ago. so check both your home and auto and change primary to see which way is least.

so now I have about $1500 spend on top of hoi vs $1000! sure they won't be difficult

Ooh. Thanks for the heads up. Sadly we just used our FNCs to book the Hotel Grand Victoria for next year. I'd love to go back to Cabo, but not for 190k pts per night. Yikes!

Sigh, that's what I figured. I suspect it will be close--need to check my statement closing. I was thinking of doing same card, but maybe I will switch so I can do it quicker and then upgrade in a little bit.

Yep, I just need to check all my flight purchase dates. I have a ton in the next couple months and can't remember when I booked what. I don't see them pending yet, but she was only approved yesterday. It will be close ...

Thank you both!

No, not yet. We're in the opposote position, trying to get the FNC's as soon as possible to use at the Swan this fall. Right now there's quite a bit of availability for Sept but of course that can change at any time!

You probably already know but you can’t upgrade a personal card until it’s open a year due to the card act.
Maybe a work around would be to PC the SW card you have now to a different SW card, then close after the points post.

Anyone recently had to call in for Chase biz card for ID verification? How long after calling did you get approval or not?
DH called last night, they took his info and said if approved it could be 2-3 weeks. Is that a no?

I've decided to jump on the Citi Elite Strata and actually not going to try for the SW card at all. I decided I'd like to get another Ink before referrals go away. Then if toward the end of the year SW hasn't nerfed the CP, I might consider whatever offer they have at the time. It's just not looking like we'd fly SW as much next year.

Gotta call a branch now!

Took a while to get a branch to pick up the phone. Instant approval!
Seems they checked Experian only.

Let us know which branch answered quickly, I think I might go for it too.
