The Groovy New Pop Century FAQ Thread!

I'd like to be able to store the laptop and then pick it up myself--I don't want them to deliver it to the room. Is this OK? I've had problems before with the laptop being delivered, why I'd prefer to pick it up myself, plus it would be the only piece of luggage being stored. Will they allow me to claim it myself when we get back from the parks?

Our room at the POP had a safe big enough to put our laptop, wallets, tapes, etc. It is an HP Pavillion laptop. I never used the internet, just downloaded images and videos with it.

Well we should be at WDW a week from Saturday :cool1: and we are staying at the Pop Century for the first time.

My hubby and I stayed at the All Star Music when we went a couple of years ago and figured that for the amount of time we spend in the room, it is fine for us even though this time, we are brining our DD and DS with us.

Thanks for the info about fax's - I had thought about sending one about room preference but now I won't probably bother. We booked our trip through a travel agent this time (we ended up saving big bucks on airfare and flying from our home town for a change so it was worth it - usually I book it myself and hope for discount codes :teeth: ) so I didn't put any room preferences in at that time.

I think we will just take our chances on room location. It's not like we can't use the walk and it doesn't really seem too bad. I do have sort of a bum ankle but it should be ok.

Plus the big thing is - we'll be at DISNEY!!!

I can't wait (or wasn't that obvious? :earboy2: )

You walk through Future World, go to the World Showcase - heading towards Canada. After you pass the UK and before crossing the bridge over to France, there is a path that leads down and to the right. That is the International Gateway and it leads to the Boardwalk area. You can walk to the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan or Dolphin. You can also choose to ride in the boat which has 3 resort stops and then a stop at MGM.

Hope that helps! :)

Thanks! I will be doing that this time... adventuring!

I dont remember the room safe being that big? I bet there is a picture of it on this thread somewhere... hmmm

We are arriving on Sat Nov 5, and brother-in-law's family is arriving on Mon Nov 7. We would like to be reasonably near each other - at least on the same floor, closer is better, of course :earsboy:

Any thoughts on how to accomplish this? Should I wait until we check in, then let them know about the other family and try to get their room assigned so that it will be close? Or is there something either one or both of us should do before we leave?

Thanks!

Did you register as a grand gathering? That may help if it isn't too late. You must be a party of 8. We are a GG and requested connecting rooms on our reservation.

Yep. Call CRO and "tie' the reservations together. They will try to keep you as close together as possible then. Especially if that is your only request.

I did the same thing. I have in a request that my sister and I be in the same building and connecting rooms if possible. Since I check in first..going to make sure I ask again.

Thanks for the suggestions. I did try calling CRO, but they say they can't help me, because I didn't book thru Disney - call my travel agent. So, I called SWA Vacations and they were slightly more helpful. They put in the request to be near each other, and suggested that I call the resort directly 1-2 days before check-in and restate the request. Hopefully that will work.

Doing the leaving in 5 days happy dance!!!!

Greetings everyone! I am back! I loved this thread when we were planning our summer trip and we LOVED Pop! We will be going back during our Mardi Gras break!! :jumping1: This thread is so huge now!! We stayed in the Tramp building (50's), backside, 3rd floor, overlooking the lake. I can't find the map that I know is in here & i would like to request the same (or close) rooms. Anyone know thos enumbers or exactly where the map is? Thanks!

When you stayed here, did you have a car? I'm curious how long it takes to walk to the parking lot from this location.

Hi - we've stayed at POP 3 times & always stayed on the back side of the Tramp building facing the lake - it is a very short walk to the 50's parking lot if you park as close to the lake as you can - maybe 2 minutes, if that.

Another option would be a room on the backside of the Jukebox room in the 50's or the Lady building - both of these are a little closer to parking. HTH! :)

So I'm wondering when I'm going to get my stuff for my trip...like my bus passes for magical express and my itenerary papers. ????? I have 29 days to go, so I'm starting to get a little ansy!!

We got our ME tags about 18 days before our trip. I believe they send them at around 21 days out.

Somewhere months ago on-line (I think on DIS but not sure) I saw a map of Pop Century showing room numbers. Does anyone know where I can find this again?
Thank you
Suzy V

Go to the Resort FAQ sticky, then Groovy Pop, page 1 resort map, page 2 detailed rooms. :teeth: We just stayed at bldg# 9 in the 80's # 9313,9314,9315 and it was a good location.
