We were given 50s Building, Non-smoking, 3rd floor, facing pool.
Our room was loud. I believe it was loud because we were behind the jukebox and there was a bad echo.
Even with our door shut and the tv on you could hear the kids playing at the pool very loud. The music being played you could here until it was shut off for the night (10 or 10:30, I believe).
We brought our noise machine.
We all had to use earplugs, too.
It's too bad the fan in the bathroom has only a 25 minute timer on it, or we'd have had that baby on all night to help drown out the pool noise.

I think if we had a different room it would have been better. Funny how we could walk right past the pool and it wasn't noisy, but up on that 3rd floor behind that jukebox with that echo they were about 10 times as loud.

I was right behind the jukebox too. We were on the first floor and didn't hear any noise from the pool. I was surprised by this because when I saw how close we were to the pool I thought it would be very loud. Had a few screaming kids walk by my room a few times in the early mornings but that was it. Oh, and also some strange loud noises comming from the bathroom fan. Maintance came and fixed it right away.

Were you in 2126 or 2127? We had weird noises from our fan too.
But the location was awesome.

Was the noise in the fan a repetitive tapping sound that would happen for minutes at a time and then stop? If so, I had the exact same noise. Never thought to call maintenance, though.

I was in 2146. The noise was a constant loud ratlle. I could still hear it with the bathroom door shut.

That's the one. Like a slow water torture drip. yikes.

We recently stayed at Pop for the first time. Here are my thoughts:

There were always lines at the front desk and lobby concierge, but they seemed to move pretty quickly and all the CMs I encountered were friendly.

We requested as close as possible to Classic Hall (didn't have a preferred location booked)...we were put in the 80's, building 7, on the back side facing the lake, about as far from Classic Hall as you can get and still be in the Pop Century resort. We were on the 2nd floor, about halfway between the stairs and elevator. I swear someone pushed my room several yards further away every time I left...I can't prove it, but my feet were telling me that was the case. ;)

Everything in the room was in excellent condition. We had no air conditioning issues. It stayed cold while we were out, and it stayed cold all night. I thought there was plenty of room and couldn't really tell a difference between the size of the room here and at POR where I stayed in June. At first I thought the beds were really hard, but then I slept great! The pillows were perfect, IMO, fluffy and soft. We could hear the neighbors through the bathroom walls, but it wasn't bad...no worse than any other hotel room at any rate...and it didn't bother us at all.

Housekeeping was excellent. (As someone else mentioned, they start early, so if you're planning to sleep in put out the do not disturb sign.) I thought they were great. On the days we hit the parks early we came back for a mid-day break and our room was fresh and clean. On the days we slept in we put our sign on the door and they cleaned our room after we left. We didn't get any towel animals, but we did get an abundance of clean towels daily.

We thought just about everything we tried from the food court was good. The Mom's Specials...fried chicken, and roast turkey...were really good. The parmesan chicken was also pretty good. The sloppy joe is huge, as is the chili dog. The pizza was just okay, as was the cheeseburger. The breakfast pizza was yummy though. The carrot cake was heavenly, the chocolate cake good. There were always icees available for the refillable mugs when we were there...Coke and Blue Raspberry...yum!

As for the buses...well, I wasn't happy with them really, but I also think they do the best they can. There seemed to be plenty of buses running, we never waited more than 15 minutes, but they were always packed and standing room only, even though the parks weren't all that crowded. (For reference, I've stayed at AKL, WL and POR and have never stood as much as I did at Pop...and the POR trip was in June.) I guess it's just such a huge resort... :confused3 Also, the Pop bus stop is the furthest resort bus stop...everywhere. At MK we even walked past two empty, unused stops to get to ours, LOL. :teeth:

The theming is really great. There's so much to see, and great music playing everywhere. We didn't use the pools, but there always were people in them, so they must have been okay. The Goofy pop jet area was really cute! There were always some little ones playing there.

Would I stay here again? I don't know, probably not. My biggest issue was all the walking and the buses. I don't like to drive on vacation, so the buses are a big deal to me. I also felt that everything was just too spread out. I thought POR was spread out, but I don't feel I walked nearly as much there as I did at Pop and I would return to POR in a heartbeat. I'm not sure how spread out the other values are or what the bus situation is like at them, but I think if I were going to do another value stay I'd check one of them out.

If anyone has any questions, I'll be happy to answer them if I can! :flower:

Anyone know if I can send myself a package (full of DD's pixie dust gifts)? I've called and was told they didn't know and to call back.

"I don't know."??? Don't you just love that answer? I know that there is a way you can have this done because I have seen people saying on these boards that they have water sent. I think you just send it one week prior and call Disney to let them know it's coming. I believe they can even put it in your room so that when you get there...it's there. I hope somebody else knows more about this.

We sent 8 cases of water to the ASMu (for 8 rooms) and it did not appear to be a problem. They just kept it in the storage room until we picked it up. I put my name, arrival date and reservaiton # on the shipping label.

Just make sure you use the street address, not the PO Box address, so the package will be delivered directly to the resort versus to the mail center (and then need to be sorted). My SIL mailed me a package as a surprise for the marathon - we didn't get it until we returned from WDW because it got held up by the mail center.

We have mailed a package to ourselves everytime we go! You need to address it to: The name on your reservations,
c/o the resort name, and then the full street address on the package. I also include beside my name, our arrival date. We use UPS. Check with them to calculate the days correctly. They do not operate on Sat., Sun., or holidays. It takes two days for a package to arrive from Richmond, Va. So, say you are arriving on sat. we ship it on Wednesday, it arrives on Friday and we pick it up when we check in. It works great!! Also, with UPS you can use their tracking system so we know exactly when it arrives before we even leave home. We always send the little boxes of cereal, lots of snacks, paper products, and sometimes even send a plastic cooler. When we leave, we always offer the cooler (which I usually ony paid about $1.50 for ) to a new family checking in. A great way to end our week by making someone happy starting their week!

Kris & Steve-
The POP bus does not go directly to the Boardwalk, but you can take the bus to MGM and then walk or talk the boat to the Boardwalk. Just check your times so you have a ride back to POP. You could also take the bus to Epcot, and walk through to the International Gateway to get the Boardwalk but that would require entry to the park.
Hope that helps. :)

You walk through Future World, go to the World Showcase - heading towards Canada. After you pass the UK and before crossing the bridge over to France, there is a path that leads down and to the right. That is the International Gateway and it leads to the Boardwalk area. You can walk to the Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club, Swan or Dolphin. You can also choose to ride in the boat which has 3 resort stops and then a stop at MGM.

Hope that helps! :)

Me and my family will be arriving at Pop Century in 3 weeks. We'll arrive in the morning (before noon) and assuming the rooms (we're a group of 6) aren't ready yet, would I be able to store just my laptop at bell services and pick it up later that day? The rest of our bags will be coming by the Magical Express. If the rooms aren't ready, we were planning on getting something to eat and then heading out to the parks. I'd like to be able to store the laptop and then pick it up myself--I don't want them to deliver it to the room. Is this OK? I've had problems before with the laptop being delivered, why I'd prefer to pick it up myself, plus it would be the only piece of luggage being stored. Will they allow me to claim it myself when we get back from the parks?

Thanks for any info, this thread and these boards in general are a wealth of information!

There are safety deposit boxes at the check-in but I'm not certain how big their largest ones are. It might pay to call down to the Pop and ask.

You can store it with bell services, shouldn't be a problem at all, we've used them lots of times with no issues and they have been wonderful.

We returned last week from a wonderful stay at our beloved Pop! One thing I had planned on seeing was the dancing by the staff at Everything Pop twice a day when they play "The Hussle" and "The Twist" over the radio. Never saw it, didn't have the strength to plan for it :guilty: so I guess it's my fault.Once however during the early morning I was in the gift shop and heard them play both songs so I ran over, but nope, no dancing!

Hopefully next time :goodvibes if they even still do it, that is!
