Maria, it's so true about the later evenings - I'm glad you thought to mention it to Midge. We did that even before EMH, especially at MK as it would literally empty out after the fireworks and we'd practically have the place to ourselves - but we never last that long anymore and most often leave after the fireworks or before IllumiNations.

Guess we're the old folks now!! ;)

:rotfl:
But it's understandable with you....looks like you have a baby from your siggy. Can't keep that little one up too late :cutie:

I have teens.....they live for the late nights in the park.....

Maria, that my first grandbaby, Sophia. :)

Oh, the memories of the days when the kids were teens...ah., what they would have given for a 3 a.m. closing at the MK!! Back then 1 a.m. was about it..but we did it many times!! ::yes::

Have fun while it lasts...soon we'll be starting all over again with little Sophia...notice my countdown! :lovestruc

:guilty: My mistake..this ole brain was stuck on Presidents Day for some reason!!:guilty: ....Many schools in the Northeast, esp. MA, have a Feb vacation week, which is always the 3rd week in Feb...Presidents Day being the Monday. :)

Thank you, Kimberly, for saving me! :goodvibes

:flower3: Like any of us haven't been in a brain warp before! :rotfl2:

....having compared alot of different wdw onsite resorts, I feel I can objectively give the opinions I have. But I feel like some may resent me saying so a little bit because it's something a little "negative" about POP which so many adore here on this thread....I won't say another word about POP unless it's all positive I guess.....

Maria, it is of my opinion that this is a informational forum, not an advertisement! Therefore, I don't think there's full value unless people can openly speak of things that they didn't like. We're all different with different needs and priorities.

I hope no one EVER feels like they cannot voice their opinion on here nor be critized for doing so, which I don't think was ever intended here.

There are things about POP that I don't care for too. For example, my experience also has been that the interior walls are thin and uninsulated allowing noise from adjoining rooms or toilets around you to easily filter through. That was my experience and from my experiences from other hotels & resorts, it's in the bottom 10 in that category. Now if there were not many people around my room, I would not have had reason to state that. Pick and choose what's most important to you, but it's good for people to know what to expect.

The point here is that there are ALWAYS so many factors and lifestyles (like a 50 yr old couple vs. a family with 2 toddlers) that dictate how things are for you personally. So questions like "Do the lines for the bus have a long wait?", "Was the Food Court busy?", "Were you disturbed by noise in your room?" can have varying answers based on time of year, time of day, census of the resort, personal thresholds, yadda yadda.

Although POP's within the "Best Place on Earth", it's managed, maintained, and visited by humans so it's not the perfect fit for everyone, and that's okay. Moreover, it's totallly acceptable for any of us to report back negatives in a factual and respectful tone. As someone stated just this past week, I think there's a wonderful group of groovy peeps here on OUR thread. Ya gotta love that! :grouphug:

Oh Minnie&Nana....I wasn't aware ! Sophia is beautiful. You must be such proud grandparents.
And you are right....I do know the fun won't last. As cliche as it sounds, they do grow up way too quickly. I remember pushing my kids around in strollers in WDW....now they're getting on the disney busses themselves and hopping over to other parks without dh and I :sad1: It's all a bit sad to see this from a parents' perspective as I'm sure you well know. Each year, they move a little further away. Enjoy your countdown and hope Sophia has a wonderful first trip to WDW :yay:

Thanks for saying this Kimberly. It is a great informative thread. :goodvibes

Does anyone know if we can buy the Pop refillable mug anywhere outside of Pop? Or can we get it online? We're heading to Pop in a month, but I'd actually like to buy it before then. Thanks.

The re-fillable mugs can only be bought at the resort.

Hope you have an awesome vacation!!

i know this isn't a POP question but everyone here is so helpful and nice I thought I'd ask anyway....

On the subject of EMH....would it be good to go to a non-EMH park during the day and then head to the night EMH park for the extra hours? Or is that dumb?

Of course, its not dumb!! Lots of guests do that - you'll find the EMH park very crowded, but if you stay late, after fireworks (as Maria and I mentioned previously) the park will empty out eventually. :)

Have fun!!

Midgehadley.....we love getting to the EMH mornings.....get to the park as early as will be allowed. Stay until about 11 am to noon because by then it will get crowded...........then hop to another park. But we've been able to get on as many as 6 rides between 8 am and 10 am. Then when it gets crowded....we high-tail it out of there...........

We are not morning people. So the odds of us ever making it to a magic morning......slim to none. Haha. Evenings would be our best bet.

Midge, we do evening EMH's at MK. It is probably the only time we go against the adivce of the various tour guides etc. Once the fireworks happen, things really let up. Besides, there is just something about being at MK late at night :cloud9:

I hear ya Midgehadley....we're not morning people either. We force ourselves. After we get back from our morning EMH, and between the hours of noon and 5 pm, we're back in the room napping or sitting by the pool. We primarily go to WDW during the hot summer months. So getting up and doing the morning EMH's are a good strategy to beat not just the crowds but the bulk of the heat and humidity as well. I refuse to be in the parks in mid August between the hours of 1 and 5 pm. It's insane between the heat and crowds......:rotfl:

So if morning EMH's are out for you, then I agree with your plan. Visit a non EMH park during the day, then slip over to the evening EMH park. Hope this helps.

Just checking in !!!65 das and I'l be at Pop!! For me it is ideal !! I found the mods and delx to be sorta spread out !! I like the convenience of Pop !!I love the decor and personally so far have had no problems with room noise !! But that could happen !! I usually request not poolside!!! I am sooooo excitd can't wait to get there!!

I'm glad that there is honest feedback on our Pop forum. No, I don't like someone coming over from a deluxe forum and trashing us but that hasn't happened in quite awhile. Everybody has an opinion on everything and I think that's good to hear all sides.

Now, how about we talk about those toilets at Pop. Seriously, I think that when they flush they're going to blow. My tush gets a wash. :rotfl: What's funny is that I forget about the turbo-toilets everytime and then woosh!

They remind me of the vacuum flush type toilets on cruise ships. :rotfl2:

Guess what? All the resorts that have undergone major refurbs now have the turbo toilets...so no getting away from the things! So, we had the same ones at Poly, GF, and POP. All is equal in resort bathrooms. ;)

I was just going to report that I don't find the toilets any different at Pop than at the GF. :goodvibes

Again, I think the main reason you don't here as much noise at the Deluxes as you do at the values/mods is because the bathrooms are next to the door in the deluxes, which puts the romm farther away from the hallway noise. But if you get stuck next to noisy neighbors, irregardless of which category of resort you are staying at, you are going to hear them.
