See, I think Pop gets a bad rap for noise. ALL hotels are noisy. We just stayed at a local Spa hotel for Valentine's Day and it was the loudest hotel I have EVER stayed at (and it was more in line with a Disney Deluxe hotel than a value). Both our stays at Pop were relatively quiet. Sure, we heard some door banging, but you get that all hotels because of the self closing doors. We heard toilets and showers running more at the GF than we ever did at Pop. But even that was only heard in the bathroom area.

At Pop, we always request lakeside since it does seem quieter over there (I guess since it is away from the pools and the only people who walk past are those who are staying there, where as EVERYONE walks through the courtyard areas to get to their rooms, or the pool, or Classic Hall).

Perhaps you tend to hear more outside noise at the values and mods since the beds are so close to the door/window, whereas at the deluxes, the bathrooms are closer to the door/hallway area

Anyway, so what my oh-so-long post is getting at is that all hotels are noisy and I don't think Pop is any louder than the rest of them (in fact in my experience, it is quieter). Don't fret! :goodvibes

I was in building 5 facing the pool and I didn't have ANY problem with noise, although I was on the fourth floor? But I never heard the people next to me or any other random chaos outside.

And yes, the bananas at the food court are $1.00. Some places where you could buy a single banana, you could also buy an apple for a dollar. I was visiting my parents first so I had the luxury of stopping at a Publix on the way- but next trip I'll definitely be dialling up GardenGrocer or someone else. It was way too convenient to have bottled water and fruit in the room.

I just wanted to say to Buckeye Gal this thread is awesome...thankyou sooo much. Its also a breath of fresh air..by that I mean there are no nasty rude people here. It so nice to have normal conversation if you know what I mean. We have just booked to go to POP for our first time May 2nd -9th and after reading this thread are mega excited. Thank you again...oh and just one more thing...SUELLEN....omg..that photo of the baby sleeping sitting up in his stroller just melts me everytime I see it...he is soooo CUTE!! We will be taking our 9month old for his first time and we cant wait.:flower3:

Ditto for me! We are CBR fans who are staying at Pop for the first time this coming August. I have found that the moderate fans are always going at it on other threads. I hate that! These forums to me are for gathering and giving accurate information, not fussing and fighting.

By the way, I am sure that we are going to come back from our August Pop stay and post that I am now a Pop fan too!

9 days away from our first stay on property! We picked POP and couldn't be more excited. From what I've read so far looks like we made the right choice! thanks for the wealth of info here :hippie:

I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree....
And I'm no Pop-hater.......stayed there maybe 10 x so far and have another stay booked on March 20.

But having stayed at WL, AKL, OKW, BWV,.....BIG difference in noise levels. I won't say there is no noise at the deluxes and DVC resorts. But I honestly think the walls are just paper thin at POP. We just don't sleep as well at POP. And generally, hotels with outside hallways do tend to be noisier, but honestly, never hear anywhere near as much noise at OKW (outside hallways as well), as we do at POP. And I just stayed at SSR (also outside hallways) and never heard a peep.

So, not blasting POP......just stating a fact as we have experienced this over and over again at our stays at POP. What it comes down to, is the price is right at POP for many of our quick trips. Keeping our budget lowers helps us to make more frequent stays in WDW. And speaking of budget.....can't believe I'm paying $150/night PLUS 11% tax for this March trip at POP ! Going in peak season is really a budget buster ! :rotfl:

I have to say that I thought our room in Pop was very quiet. We were on the fourth floor which I wanted for the view, but I think it cuts down noise considerably when you are on the top floor of a hotel. No one staying in the room above yours = no overhead noise. We had a lakeview, and it was a very peaceful place.

When I read complaints about noise at Pop, I wonder if I didn't notice any noise because I'm used to noise, living in an urban area. It's probably more that the room I picked was in a quiet place.

And yes, I did "pick" the room. I requested a 4th floor room in Building 4 facing the lake and got exactly what I wanted. When I think about it, I've requested certain things for each of our WDW resort rooms, and Pop was the only resort that ever granted each of my requests. The service there was great, and this is just one example.

Actually, I think in hotels with outside corridors I hear LESS outside noise because the doors are much thicker and stuff (to keep out the weather elements.) Hotels with indoor corridors have thinner doors and if you have kids running up and down the hallways it just echoes through the place.

I was at POR (outside corridors) and we rarely heard anyone outside. And we heard very little nose in the next room. Keeping my fingers crossed at POP will be okay (but if I have super loud neighbors, I would probably ask for a new room.)

Hello.. Just found this great thread.. I'm glad it's here and the first post is fabulous.. already printed it out to keep in my planning binder :thumbsup2

We are staying at Pop in early April and looking very forward to it.. It will be our first time on a disney resort.. can't wait.. the pictures look great..

I have one question please.. We have the Disney dining plan and I believe Pop is covered as counter/quick-service meal, right? Has anybody used this for Pop for breakfast.. and if so, what do you get? Thanks so much.

Well...I guess we can all respectfully disagree....but POP is one of the noisier hotels we've stayed in. Stayed at the AKL last Aug and did hear "some" kids running down hallways.....but heard that much more at POP. Like I said, I'm speaking from at least 10 trips at POP. I will say, I've never had a lake view room, so maybe they are quieter....had a 4th floor once and it was a bit better for lack of ceiling noise (i.e. the toilets flushing). The only other room we had that was semi quiet was back in the 90's---as far back as you could get. Honestly, it didn't seem like many people were back there either though ? In Oct 2006, we were in the 80's section (room facing pool). It was B-A-D. There were kids screaming out in the pool at 2-3 am ! It sounded like they were in the room with us. I jumped up out of a dead sleep. The insulation, I thought, was poor for me to hear them. I could even hear what they were saying to eachother. I think security must have come by, because it got real quiet about 10 min later. But not fun to be woken up to that.

Noone could convince me that POP is quieter than AKL, OKW, WL, BC, BWV etc, because I've stayed at all these resorts. I've logged in at least 40 trips to WDW and tried values, mods, deluxes, and dvc's. Like I said, I'm no POP hater....just sayin' it like we see it. Pop is cute, nice themeing, nice food court, great CM's......but honestly, the #1 reason we choose this resort over all the others is to save money. It's great value for the dollar. So I wouldn't expect anything more than I'm getting there. It's a nice resort for the money for sure. But rooms at other disney resorts are better insulated in my personal experiences over the years. MidgeHadley...you are welcome to voice your opinion. I sincerely hope your experience is that POP is quiet for you. We also did find POR quieter than POP. The FQ is pretty quiet EXCEPT when Pop Warner is there ! :scared1: But also had deluxes and DVC's quieter than POR and definitely POP.

Here is the Pop breakfast menu, although I don't know exactly what comes with a CS breakfast. It would be an entree and 2 drinks, but not sure what would count as the side item?

Well, I love quiet. But I'll just have to stick with staying at POP (or POR if my budget will allow) because I cannot rationalize paying $300+ just for quiet. But that's just me.

Midgehadley....
By no means is it just you. If you go back and read my posts, I repeatedly state I find POP a great value for the price and the price is why I booked it for next week. I take several short (3-4 night) trips down to FL to visit my 18 yo dd who is going to college nearby.....so for me, POP's price is the main attraction for us. So you're not alone. I'd love to stay at the WL every visit, but I'm with you.....$300/night can put a hurtin' on the budget. Other times, yes, we do stay at DVC or deluxe because feeling well rested is important to us on vacation. But we can't do deluxe or dvc all the time. We just can't rationalize that cost either.

One of my quotes from my above posts in relation to POP states :
It's great value for the dollar.
So it's not just you.......I totally "get it" with why alot of people like POP. I like it too....but, if I'm gonna be totally honest here, it's just not my favorite or my preference. But my budget (having to pay a big college tuition bill every month), demands that I do the POP thing every now and again ;) We have fun times at POP.....regardless of the fact that I don't find it the most quiet wdw resort.

I adore Pop on so many levels. The themeing, the food court, it's not that spread out, and the shopping. I like Pops store better than WoD store. That one is too overwhelming.

My room has always been quiet and I'm a light sleeper/insomniac - should be asleep now but the pills don't kick in until late. Ok so my room is quiet on the two trips I was at Pop BUT both times I had top floor, lake view, and kept the bathroom door shut. Also, I left the room by just before 8 am and didn't come back til midnight. Never heard a peep. Could've been that I was pooped too.

I know a lot of people are complaining about the noise level at PC right now but I gotta tell ya, I have no idea what these people are talking about.

I stayed at Pop for 7 days last year and aside from the occasional people walking past our window talking or a door shutting, there was no real noise. I mean, maybe I just had a good location or maybe I'm just more low maintenance.

I really only care about noise after maybe 11pm or so. If/when we go we'll definitely be requesting a 4th floor lake view. Any idea if that's hard to get in late January (the week AFTER mlk weekend?)

I've only been to two onsite places ever in my life - POR and All star sports back in the mid-90's. So far POR is my favorite. I'm sure if we stay at POP, POR will still be my favorite. But I'm looking forward to trying out a new place.
