Poor Kristin! As I remember, though, that was always the way of things. You rehearse and rehearse, and by the time opening comes around, your defenses are down, and every little cold bug comes to party.

What's the production? Tell her I said to "break a leg!"

It does seem every time she is in a production there is a cold bug running around in that little body! Classes from 9:00-4:00 and rehearsals from 6:00-11:00 5 days a week and a weekend rehearsal schedule of 10:00-6:00 will wear you down, that's for sure.

The show is called volume of smoke written by Clay McLeod Chapman. Chapman, along with his admin. asst. are visiting artists at VCU this semester. The historical storyline of the play is that of the 1811 Richmond Theater fire which decimated theatre in the city for over a century. The characters, both those who survived and those who perished, relate the story of how the catastrophe changed lives forever.

It is done by a small ensemble cast, with many monologues, some delivered from the audience. Sounds fascinating and I cannot wait to see it! Period costuming and dialects from Tidewater Virginia have made it a great learning experience for the cast too. Also nice to have a "local boy made good" come back to work with students who are very close to his age. Many of Kathrin's friends and co-workers went to HS with Clay and are coming to cheer on both Kristin as well as her director. Should be a sell-out for the next 2 weeks!

I will pass along your well-wishes. Our traditional roses to be delivered today will include a card that says simply, "BREAK BOTH LEGS!"

I just had a nice chat with Jen. She is well, but having a difficult time dealing with her Grandpa's diagnosis. I told her to get her butt back her and to lean on us. I'm sure that most, if not all of us have been through similar things. Come back Jen. We Miss You

Kristin has opening night for the first Main Stage production of the year and she (along with most of the cast) has a NASTY cold that settles in the head and chest. Send good healing thoughts their way, please! The show is made up of a lot of monologues!

Good morning, DDA!
Today is going to be a LONG one. Tonight I am babysitting for a family who are going to see "Lion King" at the Music Hall, so I probably won't be home until midnight. Princess has gymnastics this morning, then a haircut later this afternoon. Not too strenuous.
DH is very cranky about his job. He is going to tell them today he wants to apply for specialist. They are supposed to start interviewing for that tomorrow. I don't know when they will decide who gets the slots. If he doesn't get one then he SHOULD look for another job, but I bet he won't. He will wait to see just how horrible the route he gets will be. And mark my words, if it goes that direction the route will be horrible. I told him he better go look at the board and see what the revenue on the absolute LOWEST route is, then he needs to decide if we can live on that salary. The one kind of cool thing about being a specialist is that he can still bid on routes that come up, he just can't start on a route until his term as specialist is over. If he wins a route they will "hold" it for him. Which gives him time to bid for different things and MAYBE not be trumped by somebody who has been there longer. So we'll see.

They are calling passengers up one by one, trying to get them on other flights.

I don't see us getting to Disney soon at all!

Instead of a nonstop flight, we will have to connect in Atlanta, who knows how long this is going to take?

Let's see, now about me Last weekend, my friend Suzanne got married and Stephanie was the flower girl. She looked beautiful, if I may say so myself.

I must admit, one of the things that makes me happy to put one foot in front of the other is knowing that in 21 days, I'll be in Disney World!!!

Thanks you all about Stephanie! That dress was just gorgeous with her colorings. Under the lights, it just sparkled. I've had numerous people tell me that she looked like a princess. I also had someone call me Tinkerbell's mom LOL
