Priceline Express Deals

Check again this morning. Midnight was crazy last night. I checked Priceline and saw a very strong rate for my August dates (33% off AKL for a 4 night stay Savannah view room). I checked Disney to see if the discount posted to their site as well, which would be the preferred place to book, but Disney’s reservation website was down for maintenance! I mean you could browse the site but no pricing would come up. All hotels simply would list unavailable instead of a quote. Didn’t want to miss out on the good rate, so I went back over to Priceline and entered my payment info. I hit “book”. After 20 seconds of processing Priceline came back to me and said the price changed….to only an 11% discount. No thanks. And so I went to bed feeling played. Woke up this am and Disney’s maintenance is done but no new deals or prices on their website. Went to Priceline and the good price was back! Quickly input my payment info and hit “book” again. It worked this time! Went from a 25% discount on Disney for my 4 night stay to a 33% discount via Priceline. Used the savings to upgrade from a water view to a Savannah view. Got my Disney confirmation number right away, put it into MDE and it worked! So for everyone like me who got jerked around last night it’s worth trying again this morning.

I plugged several dates for the boardwalk into Priceline and it just showed an 11% discount. And there is no way to search for rooms that are 40% off. Seems like a scam to me. Like there is a 40% discount in this haystack on a needle if you have the time to root around and try to find it… that’s terrible.

Forgot to mention, even though it’s a room only reservation and I can cancel without any penalty up until 7 days before check in, I had to pay for the stay in full. Now. No 1 night deposit and balance due at check in like Disney. They charged the whole stay at booking. So there’s that wrinkle too.

Yes, that’s how it always works with Priceline. And remember, it’s 8 days to cancel, not 7.

Has Priceline recently stopped showing resort fees? There is no reference to them that I can now see for Swolphin. I’m skeptical that they have rolled them into the base price. Anyone have any recent experience with this?

ETA: It appears that when I select a refundable rate for Swan, the resort fee shows up as a separate line item during checkout. But for a nonrefundable rate or an express deal, it doesn't show up. I don't trust this, so won't bother booking.

It looks like they are rolling them into the total price. If you look at the Swolphin the total price is about $50 more than the posted price/night, which I feel this is how it should have always been done. Then, no surprises.

I agree, the priceline disney sale seems to be a bust. It does say up to 40%. Also it notes at the bottom, a limited amount of rooms for the discount. So they had 1 room, 1 night at 40% off it seems. I've checked multiple dates and can't find anything even remotely close to 40%

I was looking for late September using the Priceline flash sale, which is tied to the days of Amazon Prime Day (so July 8-11 for booking). I am seeing Coronado for last week of September at $206 (no weekend nights in my search), which is slightly better than Disney's Stay Longer deal for the same period. Not much better though. Your mileage may vary. I am not seeing anything that strikes me as 40% off.

Yea that’s why I dislike using those type of websites cause they aren’t very transparent. I don’t think the dates I wanted were part of the promotion either. Lol there is one night in one random category that is 40% off you think

I bet there is some agreement where Disney gets some of that capital up front and this could be a backdoor way for Disney to get extra capital without changing their official payment policy

Adding the dining plan to an AP discounted room makes it a package.

I don't know of adding dining to a DVC points reservation makes it a package.
In 2015, I added a dining plan to a DVC points reservation. Had to go through member services though. Not sure if it’s changed since then.

I’m seeing a few dates where Swolphin is about $50/night cheaper on PL (not opaque deals). For anyone that is a Bonvoy member, you can use their “Best Rate Guarantee” and get the rates 25% off!

I (think) I'm seeing some deals if you book with a car or do a split stay as a "package".

But it keeps glitching on me at the end (e.g., I want to book 1 night hotel and a 5-day car, and it keeps reverting me to 1 day car), so I don't know if it's a better deal from what I already booked with Disney (hotel) and Costco (car)

The split stay option seemed to work because Priceline appears to be counting this as a "package" deal if you select at least two hotels. I was trying to split All-Stars and Wilderness Lodge.

For my dates, the price for Wilderness Lodge is for a higher room category, so I'm better with Disney. Unless we change resorts, but DH and I really want to do WL for our anniversary since we've always wanted to stay there.

I found the link I was messing around with earlier. It's a 2024 link according to the URL
https://www.priceline.com/partner/summer-planning-2024-theme-park-frenzy

But if it works, it might offer some good deals if anyone is planning a split stay or renting a car for the full time to align with hotel.
I’ve been playing around with this too- I’m getting amazing deals for my first dates and then ridiculous (high) prices for my second dates. Is that what you’re seeing? I don’t know if I should keep playing with this or not…

Yes!!
POP is $108 for the first part (and I think Coronado was great too), but WL is like high 300s (Nature View). Since we have Resort View booked with a Military discount, Disney-direct, so that's way cheaper. I think if Resort View was available on PL, it might have been a good deal doing it that way.

I FINALLY got the hotel (one night) and car for 5 days to work, but it came out more than what I have with All-Star Sports and a Costco rental.

I did play with Pop and Coronado, and that did appear to be a better deal than the direct booking with Disney

I think Beach Club/Yacht Club also would have been cheaper with one night at a value. I also suspect if we were doing 1 night Deluxe and multiple nights value that might have been worth it also?

Same. It's almost fun. But a kick in the pants to see the 2nd part of the package.
