 I don't know anyone there, but this has left me shaken. I can't stop thinking about how those parents must feel and what those students went through. :sad1:

me too..we have gotten some emails from the president of my university that said they are working on getting plans in place for our college due to the "recent circumstances"

so sad

Just talked to sil, she is home. Other than being very sore she is ok!

Well, I'm back...and it only took me almost all day (between work, of course) to get caught up!

Our trip this weekend went pretty well - Jonathan began coming down with the head cold crud on Friday, and has been feeling it all weekend. Still, everyone got together, and for the most part, things went off without a hitch. I posted a little earlier about my nephew's behavior, but once things really began going downhill where he was concerned, "oh, would you look at the time? Shouldn't you be taking him home since it's past his bedtime (if he even has one)?!"

But I loved spending time with my other nieces - they are just too cute for words. I was so proud of my DN5, too. :goodvibes Jonathan and I took some video of us interacting with the charactes at LTT to show our nieces, as they've never been to WDW and are a bit nervous about meeting the characters (although they're warming up to it). So, they were watching that, and we also had footage from the P&P party parade, and Aurora came on the screen. My DN3 said "Aurora" and my DN5 said "Sleeping Beauty" at the same time. I then asked my DN5, "what's her other name?" and she promptly responded "Briar Rose." :goodvibes Someone's bringing that kid up right! :thumbsup2

Needless to say, that inspired the entire family to play an impromptu game of Disney trivia with me as the moderator, and my DN5 kicked some serious rear! :rotfl:

Overall, it sounds like a wonderful weekend. I'm sure your family is looking forward to that trip! :goodvibes

I'm subscribed to that thread. If you can't find it, let me know, and I'll point you in the right direction.

Beth
Could you post the link to that one please? I've read one, but it could be a different one. Thanks.

I don't want to sound mean, but those cakes are not nearly as professionally done as the ones on the first web site. The foundant is not quite even, and things are just slightly off. Also, I think that the leaves are too brightly colored. They are still very nice cakes, but I think that is the problem when comparing them to the first set.
I just posted that one to show colored fall leaves verse the white fall cake I posted. ITA though! (I think the last site sells the leaves to people who don't want to make them - and those are others cakes...) I'm waiting on the Cake Loft to call so I can talk about my ideas (and all of yours that have been mentioned!!!! :thumbsup2

So I got together a bunch more paper this afternoon and the loan is once again in the underwriter's hands.

I've been praying for God's Will in this..the whole time. I am now praying for the underwriter to see what what he needs to see so we can have the house. Feeling pretty selfish praying for it but as I told Jim last night we will be moving the first weekend in May one way or the other!!

Lindsay - I got the Disney Songbook (now I have Cocktail Hour music!! :rotfl: ) and to see if Bob like's the song "Beautiful" and Escape so I could listen to "Not Alone" as a father/daughter dance.

I love this CD, and love love LOVE "Beautiful" :cloud9:

Threats rattle 3 universities, 2 schools 6 minutes ago

AUSTIN, Texas - Campus threats forced lock-downs and evacuations at universities in Texas, Oklahoma and Tennessee and two public schools in Louisiana on Tuesday, a day after a Virginia Tech student's shooting rampage killed 33 people.

In Louisiana, parents picked up hundreds of students from Bogalusa's high school and middle school amid reports that a man had been arrested Tuesday morning for threatening a mass killing in a note that alluded to the murders at Virginia Tech.

Schools Superintendent Jerry Payne said both schools were locked down and police arrested a 53-year-old man who allegedly made the threat in a note he gave to a student headed to the private Bowling Green School in Franklinton. Both towns are in southeastern Louisiana.

"The note referred to what happened at Virginia Tech," Payne said. "It said something like, 'If you think that was bad, then you haven't seen anything yet."

In Austin, authorities evacuated buildings at St. Edward's University after a threatening note was found, a school official said.

Police secured the campus perimeter and were searching the buildings, St. Edward's University spokeswoman Mischelle Amador said. She declined to say where the note was found and said its contents were "nonspecific."

The two other scares were determined to be unfounded.

At the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, officials ordered three campus administration buildings evacuated for almost two hours Tuesday morning in response to a telephone bomb threat. The city's bomb squad searched the buildings but found nothing, campus spokesman Chuck Cantrell said.

Cantrell said there was no reason to believe the bogus threat was related to the shootings at Virginia Tech, but "we just chose to err on the side of caution today."

The other, at the University of Oklahoma, had started with a report of a man spotted on campus carrying a suspicious object, officials said.

The man was carrying an umbrella, not a weapon, and he later identified himself to authorities, University of Oklahoma President David Boren said in a statement. Boren initially had said the person was believed to carrying a yoga mat.

"We now consider the matter closed," Boren said. "We always want to err on the side of caution in a situation like this."

At St. Edward's in Austin, students who live on campus were being allowed to return to their dormitories as police finished searching each building, Amador said. Faculty, staff and all other students were asked to stay away from the campus, and morning and afternoon classes were canceled. About 5,200 students are enrolled at the Catholic university south of downtown Austin.

Amador said the university's reaction was not influenced by Monday's attack at Virginia Tech.

"No matter what day or when this would have happened, we will always take the necessary precautions to protect our students, our faculty, our staff, the entire university community," she said.

One of our local schools was also on lock down today, details aren't released yet. :sad2:

Thanks for the info., Heidi. One of my first thoughts this morning was that we would also be living through a bunch of copy-cat threats. That is unfortunately one of the many by-products of such extensive media coverage today. :sad2:

My sil was in a car accident today & was taken to the hospital. I am still waiting to hear how she is. All I know is another car pulled out in front of her & basically totaled her Tracker. Hopefully I hear something soon!

Well dh is home, guess I better get my booty in gear & get this messed cleaned up :sad2:

I'm glad to hear she's okay. Here's some :wizard: for them as they sort it all out - accidents stink.

Well my class is over. Those boys were so wild all year. Today we had them play "who wants to be a millionaire". We asked them questions on what we had taught. Each time they answered right they got play money. Well my co-teacher & I were very pleased to see that they answered almost all correct! Thankfully some info got through!!!:yay: The moms loved the photo albums I made.:)

Off to go make dinner..

Congrats on finishing your class! And sounds like they learned something after all! :thumbsup2

Theresa, I don't feel there is anything wrong in being specific in our prayers, as long as we realize that sometimes God's Will is not exactly our own. I always think of the verse "Ask, and it shall be granted to you...".

Continued, specific prayers for the underwriter holding your loan. :wizard: :wizard: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Well, I'm caught up (thanks for keeping it down). Jonathan didn't feel up to going out to eat for his b-day tonight, so we just ordered in a pizza, he watched 24, and I got the pleasure of finishing our taxes. The good news, though...we are getting a refund! It's not a huge one, but we have NEVER gotten a refund in our entire 8-year marriage, so we're ecstatic. Now I know why some people get so excited for tax time! :rotfl: ;)

Good night, DDA! Sweet Disney Dreams! :cloud9:
Congrats on finishing your taxes and getting a refund!

Good morning, DDA. Today is so sad around here. We are all trying to get in touch with friends and people we know to make certain all their children are OK. It is a very hard contact to make. How do you ask someone if their child is alive? I am dreading the announcement from Tech with the list of names.

I will check in later with you all. Have wonderful mornings and hug those beautiful children of yours very hard. If they ask you why.... tell them I wanted you to.
:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

What a day! DDA hugs and :wizard: are just the best because today as I was going to lunch, I got very good news. If everything goes okay, one of the heaviest weights on my heart will be lifted. I swear, the good news coincided with your good wishes. I thank you...
:grouphug:

10 days and we leave for the airport hotel to spend the night. 11 days until we leave for WDW!!!!
 I bet you love staying at the airport before your trip!

Deb - The problem is that when I left my other 2 nanny jobs I was READY to leave. I was irritated enough that it wasn't that hard to go on to the next one. This time I don't want to leave, and they don't want me to go, it is just the way the schedule has worked out. So hopefully I will find a beautiful, roly-poly baby to take the sting out of the transition.:)

Brother set the microwave on fire last night, so I think we are going OUT for lunch. Apparently he slipped into the kitchen undetected and decided to make popcorn. When I walked in this morning the whole house reeked of smoke, and he announced that he set the microwave on fire!:scared1: How he got the popcorn from the high cabinet and managed to put it in the microwave (which is also up high) is a scenario I prefer not to envision. At least nobody got hurt! (And the smoke detectors work pretty well, apparently!)
:scared1: I think I'd be ready to leave. You have must have much more patients than me!

So the guy was here to fix the phone. They were convinced the problem is in the building well the guy now knows it isn't. He was out with a ladder at the pole. He gave up and now they will have to send a bucket truck out. If they would have listened in the first place to the fact that we connected a phone directly to the pole and it was the same. Perhaps they would have sent the correct equipment out in the first place. But they kept insisting it was in the house. Who knows how long the phone will be out.

Keep the good thoughts coming for my co-leader and her family. Since they are trying to get their daughter help, she is rebelling even more. Doing anything she can think of to spite them, make them mad, cause them problems. Let's just say it is not a good situation right now.

I have to go back to work today. Lets just say I am less than thrilled.

Sending prayers, :wizard: and :grouphug: to all of you.
Good luck with your phone. For a few years we had problems with our service going out every few months for days at a time and we don't get cell service at home so it was a real pain. They finally put in a new line but didn't actually hook us up to the new line until our service went out again. And every time I called they acted like I was the one messing with the line.:headache: Hope yours gets fixed fast!

:wizard: Hope things improve for your co-leader!

Well I need the power of DDA prayer.....that stuff way back when (about October) about my student loans....may make it hard for us to get approved for the home loan. The loan status is now static.
More prayers and :grouphug: :grouphug: and :wizard: :wizard: !!!

I need some input... I am getting ready to work on the nursery, it's Mo's room now and I need to basically just touch up the paint but I also want to make it slightly different. I am going to reuse Molly's crib set which is red and white gingham. Right now the walls are a pastel yellow and my idea is to paint the walls to resemble Snow White's dress. I have a lot of Snow White trinkets and pictures/collector plates that are packed away and I thought this way I could make use of them.

Anyway, here is sort of what I am picturing in my head. Is it totally crazy?

That looks so cool!!!!

I like the first one the best but both are beautiful! I looked through the entire portfolio on the web-site...WOW! The sand castle cake was absolutely stunning for a summer/beach wedding.
That sand castle cake was cool! Did you see #63 that had a castle on the top and it looked like small Mickey Ear cakes on the side?

Just talked to sil, she is home. Other than being very sore she is ok!
Glad she's OK.

Evening all.
Hope everyone had a great weekend & Monday.
Busy on-call this weekend.
Borrowed Million Dollar Baby from a co-worker. popcorn:: :sad1:
Watch it Monday night.
So I have been M.I.A for a few days.

Anything exciting happen the last few days? :confused3

My ADR window opens up tomorrow...Stephanie told me to go ahead and make the reservations for LTT...I am not clear as to time and how many...can someone let me know?

Congrats on finishing the class and getting the info across to your young hoodlums!:thumbsup2

I am glad she is OK!:)

A little brag: DS got his 5th marking period report card today. He got one "B" and all the rest "A"s!!! We think this is probably the best report card he has EVER gotten! Of course the B is in math, but it is an 85.:)

So I was on the phone with one of my friends, and another friend called on my cell. I let it go to voice mail and called her back. She met a nanny at Gymboree who is quitting her job in about 6 weeks, and she is trying to help the family find a new nanny. SO my friend gave the nanny my name and number to give to her boss. The mom called me on my way home and she seems delightful! She has a roly-poly baby. She would like to have another baby next year. She does not think it is HORRIBLE that I have DS! She lives more north than I would like, but with everything else being so positive I might be willing to stretch a little on the drive. She needs someone mid-June at the latest, but there again, it is worth meeting them. The mom just sounds SO nice! I e-mailed her my resume, and she is going to talk to her husband and figure out when it would be convenient for us to have an interview. And so it begins.
