Agreed...Tobacco Road is interesting. That and Charlottesville seem pretty similar. Small races in southern small town settings. I'm interested in either race. Charlottesville might rank a little higher because it's closer and drivable.
Jodi - I think this is all we need to know about Tobacco Road...
Will there be adequate rest room facilities at the Start/Finish and along the course?
Yes, there will be port-a-potties at the Starts, the Finish and about every 2-3 miles along the course.
Jodi - A 50-miler in April? There is one right here. It's pretty (O.K. really) hilly but could be fun. If you are interested, I'll do it too! http://www.vhtrc.org/brr/
Really? You'd run it with me? You'd have to stay with me, though. I ain't traveling to run 50 miles ALONE!! I can do that here!
OK, personally, I've pretty much concreted these races into my schedule for '10: NYC 1/2 (3/21), Seattle RnR Marathon(6/26), Chicago 1/2 RnR (8/1). I'm up for anything else that EVERYONE can attend!! Keep the fall suggestions coming! Perhaps Chester will enjoy Vegas so much he'll go back next year???
Off topic. I've booked back2back cruises on the new DCL ship, the Dream, for 2/17/11 (right b4 President's Week) & a 4 nighter on 2/20/11 (during school break...for MOST schools. OK, every school but Colleen's kids). Anyone wanna come?? You haven't hung out with me until you have hung out with me after just ONE margarita!! Previews @ the Biergarten after the Disney Marathon......

Lou -One big difference is that The Nicotine Addiction Marathon should be really flat. Charlottesville, I promise not!
Jodi - I will definitely run with you (for as long as I can keep up) as long as you're not too mean to me. Some mean is fine though. And you are more than welcome to stay at Chez Chaumont. The only deal is that I don't have to cross the finish line, jump in the car, and rush you to the airport. I'd at least like to eat a hamburger first.
Post marathon at the Biergarten sounds perfect! Is someone making ADR's or whatever they're called now? My only request is that it's more early dinner than lunch. My darling wife is shooting for a barely sweep-beating 6-7 hour finish, a nice shower, and plenty of time to rent a wheelchair at the Epcot entrance. Sometime after 4:00?
Matt and Cindy: I hope you are both feeling better.
Howard and Cam:
Lou: Awesome recovery from NYC, I'm still jealous about you getting a spot in Philly this year.
Chester: I have a nice 1/2 in April-- New Brunswick NJ at Rutgers, my alma mater-- we live only an hour away and have plenty of extra room in the house...
I'm still feeling pretty sick, but I'm back at work today. Unless a miracle occurs, I'm probably not going to do the Richmond marathon this saturday. I might still do the half, but I'm not that excited about running a slowish half.
Thoughts on other marathons:
Mardi Gras sounds good to me. I'm also interested in Thunder Road. Durham / Chapel Hill is only about a 5 hour drive from DC and it might be cool to run a new race. Besides the Goofy, I am going to run a spring marathon for sure. I just need to pick one.

Afternoon Bots! Matt and I are in the car headed down to Richmond (hoping the traffic won't be too bad). Thanks to everyone for all of the well wishes concerning Matt and my simultaneous illnesses and the race. I'm going to transfer my entry from full to half (but that's b/c of lack of preparedness, not illness). Matt is thinking that he won't run at all.
