~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Jodi: Great race report. I'm so glad you enjoyed it. I've never had much interest in running NYC, but after reading both yours and Lou's reports I may have to put it on my list. It's great that you were able to run an entire marathon and not be miserable. It doesn't always have to hurt.

CindyLou - It doesn't have to hurt when you're just out there lollygagging around like I was! It's a different story, though, when you're BQing! As you well know :thumbsup2.

Lou - I'm still in awe of your time, dude. This is the marathon that you always read "don't bother trying to PR here - too tough, too crowded", yet you DID it!:worship:. I wonder, too, what your time would be on an "easier" (is there really anything easy about running 26.2 miles?) course. Hmmm...could there be another BQ-seeker amongst us?popcorn::

Colleen - I pointed you in the right direction, what happened?

Jodi - I'm pretty impressed at how you finished. I was looking at your times yesterday and you seemed to pick up the pace over those last 6+ miles. That's pretty good considering you just ran 20 and that those were some tough uphill miles.

Do you see all the times for the celebrities? Those warriors ran a 3:34. Anthony Edwards ran a 4:08 and retired hockey player Pat LaFontaine ran a 4:27. Alanis Morissette ran a 4:28 and then sang the National Anthem in Philly last night.

I spoke with my friend that got me into running races last night. He ran almost the exact same time as I did in NYC and 2 weeks later ran a 3:45 in Philly. I wish I could have signed up for Philly just to see how I could do on a flatter course. At this point I really don't care because I am just happy I got it done in NYC.

Jodi - I'm telling you, you need to run one of those 50 mile ultras. It takes you 20 miles to get all loosened up. You'd be running 6:30 miles by the end in one of those.

Right? Funny you mention that 50 mile thing. I was thinking of doing either the JFK 50 or the 50 miler near me (the same event where I did the 50k in '08) next year.

Did you guys see Colleen on the news last night? She was arrested for trying to vote for Mayor Bloomberg in yesterday's election. I guess she figured 'cause she was still in NYC she was able to cast a ballot. Wacky Canadian..

Jodith! I'm so proud! :worship: I am not worthy! I am not worthy! :worship: You did fabulous! Look at you, all manic and stuff, out there grinning like the Chesire Cat! You ROCK! :woohoo:

Oh and sorry you couldn't poop. :rolleyes1 What a waste of 5 min.

Hey Bots!

I just found out that I scored a spot in the Philly Marathon!!! :cool1: YEAH BABY!!

I posted a note on FB last night on the Philly Marathon group and a guy contacted me saying he was interested in selling. He just agreed to sell me his bib and I am in!!

With the buzz I am feeling post NYC I really wanted to go back to Philly and run that course. A close friend of mine said he broke 4 hours at NYC (3:55) and then ran a 3:45 at Philly 2 weeks later. I could care less what happens in Philly in terms of time but I just want a shot to run that course. I think that if I approach Philly with the calm/cool attitude I had at NYC I should do just fine.

YES!!!!!

Lou

yay! I'll be with the TnT-ers cheering on everyone. I'll see you there.

Hey! We all could do the JFK 50 as a Bot event next fall!!

Lou - Great news about running Philly.

Just be warned, if you BQ you get none of the credit. The other person's local running store will post HER results and SHE will get the plaque for 3rd place in her division. Isn't that right, Colleen?

BTW, sorry about the Phillies. It was a good run. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like the Indians have any talent left to give away next year to help the Phillies over the top.

Mike - I'd be stunned if I came close to a BQ time. I really just want to run the entire course and enjoy the event. As for the Phils, I'm pretty satisfied with going to back to back World Series. They have the best team in the NL so they should have a good shot next year. Although we could use a third baseman, some bench players, and a couple relievers in case the Indians feel generous again this off season.

Lou: Congrats on the awesome time in NY and on scoring a place in Philly. I wish we could join you in that race.

We are on vacation now in WDW and having a great time. DH and I ate at Jiko last night and loved it-- it was our 1st time there. Who knew ostrich was so yummy. In the evening I had a great run around the lake by Beach and Boardwalk-- I got to see some of Illuminations, run past the ESPN zone where people where watching the World Series then did several out and backs to Hollywood Studios where I looped around a giant Christmas tree. All told it was roughly 5 miles but felt great and was lots of fun. Cant wait to see everyone here in Jan.

I also finally joined facebook and would love some friends...

Hey BOTs,

Cam - Sorry for your loss. My prayers go out to you and your family.

Got in my first "training run" for the Philly Marathon. 4 miles on the bike path in the wildlife area. A saw this huge owl fly over my head and land in a tree with a squirrel while I was running.

I'm still a dealing with a slight cold and sore throat. Louie is actually sick with what appears to be the flu. He's missed 4 days of school since last Thursday.

Lou: Congrats on the awesome time in NY and on scoring a place in Philly. I wish we could join you in that race.

Jen - I looked for you on FB but could only find Butch. I didn't even see you listed as one of Butch's friends. What's up with that? :lmao: Just find me...I'm linked with just about every one of the BOTs (except Mike).

Lou

STILL waiting for Colleen's race report. popcorn:: I guess she doesn't want to re-live her weekend as my roommate :sad2::sad1:.

Dave - Holy carp!! Nice score on that Zimmer interview!:thumbsup2 Very impressive, dude. Who's next? Bourdain??popcorn::

Hi everyone! Yes, I'm still alive. I want to congratulate Jodi, Colleen and Lou each for their outstanding efforts in NYC!!! I am so impressed with all of you. I am so glad you all had great experiences. I signed up for the lottery (year 2) on Monday.

I left work a bit early today to run some errands and found myself home with some daylight left (go figure). I got a nice little 5 miler in. This was my first run since the Marine Corps Marathon.

Miles: 5.0
Time: 40:44
Pace: 8:09
Splits: 8:21, 8:25, 7:52, 8:14 and 7:52.

This is my fastest pace in a L-O-N-G time. :confused3 I did by new shoes (Saucony Hurricane X) and they felt great with my new injinji socks (thanks for the recommendations!). I do have a question, they are pretty "thin" does anyone ever wear a pair of regular runnng socks over top of them for additional cushioning? Just wondering...

Jen~ I befriended you on FB!!!

Lou~ Thanks for the words to Cam. We are up in Woodbury tomorrow morning at 10 AM to take care of funeral arrangements. The viewing is on Monday evening and Tuesday, then private burial in Woodbury.

I'll be back when I can over the next few days. I have a training plan for the WDW Marathon, but I need to get to it!!!

:grouphug:

Howard

Thanks to all my new facebook friends

Howard: nice job on sneaking in a fast run, sorry about your loss

Today is our final full day of vacation :sad1: so we hope to make the most of it. I did get in another 5 miles last night although not nearly as fast as Howard. I really like running along the canal between Swan/Dolphin and Hollywood Studios-- 2 out and backs is just about a 5K.

Once our exhausted DD wakes up we are off to AK, then swimming, then finish off with fireworks at MK :goodvibes
