~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Best of Luck to the Richmond runners, the walking wounded, etc!

Mike~ Best of luck, I hope you can BQ if you're feeling it!!! :worship::worship::worship:

NOW AVAILABLE:

Online registration for the 47th Annual Citizens Bank Caesar Rodney Half Marathon & 5K, benefiting the American Lung Association in Delaware

Race date: Sunday, March 21, 2010

Special early bird registration fees are available through the end of January 2010. For more race information or to register, go to www.lunginfo.org and scroll down to Upcoming Events.

If I am here I'll be running this... last year I broke my foot the Wednesday prior during a training run and had to DNS. I guess Jodi's "less is more theory" would have benefitted me. :confused3 Lou did a great job with it though! :thumbsup2 If anyone comes, you can stay at Casa Keener*!

Ugh. Traffic is terrible. I didn't expect it to be great but hoped it wouldn't be this bad. We've gone 28 miles on over an hour and a half.

Oh, MIndy, that's terrible. :sad2:We spoke to Mathy a couple hours ago and they told us you were stuck in traffic. I hope you are there by now and able to make it to expo and get some sleep tonight.

Morning Bots! We made it to Richmond and successfully transfered our entries to the half. Not much sleep due to the hacking cough that won't go away when I lay down. I'm thinking most sane people would decide not to run at this point. Of course that means I'm running. Matt is still undecided. Off to meet Mathy in an hour!

Mindy - Hope you guys feel better by tomorrow...at least good enough to run.

Howard - I'm debating what to do about Caesar Rodney. I need to pick a spring "goal" race first and then everything else lines up with that. If I run the OD Marathon in Cape May on 3/28 then Caesar is out. I kind of feel like I need to go back and run the full at OD. Everyone is afraid of the race (wind) which is why I want to run it.

Mike - Have a great race at Richmond. Hopefully you get good weather.

Heading out for 8 miles today. Did not get in much running this week due to work and bad weather. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lou

I finished - 2:10 something, so it was my slowest half, but only by about 2 minutes - not to bad, I'm pretty happy with that. I do feel a bit worse, so running might not have been the best idea. We just saw Kathy finish as I was typing and now waiting for Mike. Matt didn't run.

Great job Cindy!!!! Thats a great time considering your not feeling well these past few days. Congratulations on another half marathon with a great finish time.

Congrats Cindy :cool1::cool1::cool1: Sorry Matt was not up for running.

Congrats to Kathy too-- let us know how Mike does.

Hey Bots

Cindy - Nice job!!!:yay: Excellent job, considering the hacking-a-lung-up-cough, lack of sleep & general malaise. Once again, I would have stayed in bed.;). I hope Matt feels better today - I think he did the right thing by bailing!

Mathy - Waiting to hear if it was a good run for you guys!!popcorn::

Lou - How'd that 8 go? All set for next weekend?

Howard - No Cesar for me, but thanks for the bunk offer. That's the weekend of the NYC 1/2 that everyone on this board is going to sign up for on Dec. 1!!!:rolleyes1.

Jen - Nice job on that LR yesterday!!:worship::thumbsup2

How's everyone else doin'? Waiting for Colleen's race report from NY!!:confused3

Been runnin'. Ran a laid-back, slow 6 with Spencer this a.m. Just b4 the rain! Still trying to convince him to let me run the 1/2 with him @ Disney :sad2:

Well Jodi, the offer still stands in case someone wants to bail and do a race closer to Virginia, Maryland/DC, Florida, Southern New Jersey, etc. I will definitely run the NYC Half, just not this year.

Here is the big list I've put together as races I will be running in 2010:

January
10 – Walt Disney World Marathon

March
7 – Walt Disney World Princess Half
21 – Caesar Rodney Half

May
2 – Broad Street 10 Miler, Philadelphia
16 – Delaware Half/Full (Deferred half this year/can upgrade if I want)
29 - Spring Lake (NJ) Five Miler

October
2 – Walt Disney World Dine & Wine Half

November
7 – New York City Marathon (In lottery- Year 2) OR
20 – Rehoboth Beach Marathon

I want to add a BOT Race and will await the verdict for 2010!!! I'll be running frequent 5K's in my area throughout the Summer months (June, July, August, September).

Not a race report, but this is all I'll do this evening.

Kathy had a great race (especially for someone that didn't decide to register until yesterday and was just going to do it as a training run). She PR'd her half by 5 minutes and felt great until some calf cramping got her towards the end. I'm extremely proud and happy for her.

As for me - Ugghh! I only missed my BQ by....

20 MINUTES!:scared1::rotfl:

Perfectly on pace for the first half then no bueno from there. I guess it just wasn't my day today.

Many thanks to Cindy and Matt for letting us hang out in their nice warm lobby this morning and many many for hanging out so long at the finish waiting for me to FINALLY finish.

Mike~ All I can say is that I one day hope to miss BQing by 20 minutes. Great effort buddy! :thumbsup2

Mikey - :worship: I'm proud of you , as are the rest of the Bots :grouphug:. So today wasn't your day...you'll get in there sooner or later. Besides, word on the street is Boston is already filled up for '10, so you still have all of next year to qualify for '11. BTW, what was it like running through the armpit of VA?? I mean, Richmond. ;)

Kathy - Check you out with a PR on what was supposed to be a training day!! :worship::banana:. Good for you!! :woohoo:. Please pick out a Bot run for us all in 2010!! popcorn::

Mike

Sorry about running smooth and then running empty. Sometimes the life just flows out of your legs. Another time at another race you'll get that desired result.

And for Kathy, that's wonderful. Congratulations and be sure to tell everyone about your result!

Craig

Good morning! I hope Mike and Kathy are both resting well today after their efforts yesterday! Congratulations to you both again!!!

I went out for a LR this morning:

Miles: 12.0
Time: 1:50:33
Pace: 9:13
Splits: 8:23, 9:04, 9:37, 9:14, 8:52, 9:00, 9:25, 8:58, 9:03, 9:20; 10:18; and 9:18.

I am zapped! My legs feel like tenderized London Broil at this point.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend! I'll stop back later to see which BOT Race we've all decided to run together. :rolleyes1

Funny, that's what I was going to say....:rolleyes1. I'm leaving it up to Kathy!!

Howard - NICE job on that 12 miles!!! :worship::yay:

Mike - So very proud of you :worship: Congrats to Kathy as well:yay:

Cindy - Hoping you're feeling okay today:hug: Great job on the 1/2 . Lots of :wizard: for Matt as well!

Howard - Nice LR and I think your race schedule for 2010 looks grand:thumbsup2

Jodi - Your list is shaping up nicely as well :hippie:

No running in sight but I had a great weekend away in MA so it's all good:goodvibes I'll be back at it tomorrow. Have a great week:grouphug:

Thanks for all the kind words about Richmond. You all are just great.

Cindy - Congrats again on a good race when you weren't feeling so swell.

Matt - I hope you're feeling better. Did you two enjoy your Saturday evening in Richmond?

Jodi - Kathy mentioned the "armpit of Virginia" a couple of times while we were scouting out the course. There were some spots highly populated by pawn shops, check cashing places, and a fair amount of folks just hanging around. Not so different from any of the other downtown city type marathons I've done.

Howard - Tenderized London Broil!! Nice!

Sara - Nice to see you checking in. Glad you had a nice weekend.

Colleen - Thanks to you and Jeff for the words of encouragement Saturday. It really meant a lot.

I'm feeling pretty decent this morning. I debated about going to the gym and riding the bike for a bit but think I will wait until tomorrow (just because I'm lazy!).

Enjoy your Monday.

Hello bots! *cough* *hack* *cough* I'm still a little bit sick, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel now.

Mike It was fun to hanging out with you and Kathy this weekend in Richmond. I'm sorry the race didn't go your way, but you are still an awesome runner. The fact that you can "blow up" at mile 12 and still run a 3:50 is amazing.

Lou How are you feeling gonig into Philly this weekend? Any leftover aches and pains from NYC? What does the weather look like? Hopefully not low 20s with ice at the water stops like last year

Howard Nice pace on your recent runs. Seems like you are rounding back into form nicely.

Jodi Richmond isn't just the armpit of VA, it is the armpit of the south! Cindy and I were looking for touristy stuff to do on Saturday after the race, but we didn't really find anything. We ended up going to the capital ale house and drank beer and ate sausages. It was a really cool bar/restaurant. They had probably 40+ beers on draft and there were only about 2-3 that I had even heard of before. They had a 15 page beer menu with large write ups about all of the different beers they had. I think I drank a pint of "Victory Brewing Storm King Cask Stout (9.1% alcohol)" which was awesome and a pint of "Blue grass Jefferson Reserve Stout (10.5%)" that had a taste of chocolate and bourbon. After those two super strong beers Cindy and I spent the rest of the afternoon watching TV in our room. We did make it out later that night to a local british pub and played darts, ate meat pies and drank more beer, though.

The Bull Run Run 50 Miler!

As for me, I'm feeling a little down after running a poor race in Baltimore and being too sick to run Richmond. From experience, the only thing to do after a poor race is to sign up for another race and train your butt off. Mike mentioned the "Bull Run Run 50 Miler" on April 18th this weekend and I spent a great deal of time on Saturday researching it. Now I really want to do it.

Here is the website http://www.vhtrc.org/brr/

It is described as "The Bull Run Run is a beautiful, tough run on the Bull Run Trail in Northern Virginia. The BRR is a difficult challenge, but many have finished it. It is neither easy nor brutal. If you like to run trails, come enjoy a day in Virginia's spring beauty as we honor those who fought here many years ago."

I even found a training plan for a 50 mile race on Hal Higdon's website. The link is here: http://www.halhigdon.com/ultramarathon/ultramarathon2000.htm

The race is 22 weeks away now, so that is plenty of time to train. The goofy (my next race) fits into the schedule nicely as a back to back training run and even a spring marathon in March would fit in nicely. Right now my hopeful schedule is something like the following:

January: Goofy
March: Tobacco Road marathon (3/21) or VA Beach Shamrock Marathon (3/21) or National Marathon in DC (3/21)
April 18th: Bull Run Run 50 miler.

So far I have completed day 1 of my training. Monday is a rest day, so I slept in!
