~The BOT Battalion~ BOTS On The Run

Cam - I'm very sorry for your loss.

Howard - Very speedy, my friend. And yes, I wear another pair of socks over the toe socks.

Jen - Have a safe trip home you lucky dog.

Good Morning Bots,

Jen: Enjoy your last day of vacation. Good for you for getting some runs in while down there.

Howard: Great job on your run. Glad you are finding some speed. Good luck with NY marathon lottery. Best wishes to you and Cam over the next few days.

Lou: Great job getting out there so soon. Did you take the owl/squirrel as some sort of omen? Hope the cold improves soon and your son feels better too.

Mike: Hope the tapering is going well.

Jodi: How are you feeling?

Colleen: Looking forward to your race report.

Dave: Hello.

I have begun Goofy training, but not feeling overly motivated about it. My speedwork on Friday was quite possibly the longest 4 miles I have ever run. It felt like it would never be over. How did I go from running 26 miles 3 weeks ago to struggling with 4 miles? Feeling quite fat and out of shape right now. I am fighting a cold, so maybe I'll chalk it up to that. I have 10 miles planned for tomorrow. We'll see.

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

Hey Bots! Happy Sunday.

Cam - Again, I'm sorry for your loss; good luck in the next few days with all you must do.

Howard - Oh, so now you're gonna desert us slowpoke-bots (me) & run fast (the others)?:lmao:. I really do hope you get into NYC!! I won't enter the lottery again this year.

Jen - You had me WAY jealous with your running tales within Boardwalk vicinity. Safe travels home!

CindyLou - Ew! Training for Goofy? I hope you're still basking in the glow of that BQer!! How'd the 10 go?popcorn:: Hope you get over that cold quickly!

Mike - All set for next weekend??? How's the tapering going? How's Kathy feeling after that kickin' 14 the other day?

Colleen - Sorry for incurring such a huge therapy bill for you :headache: Shall I send you a check?

Lou - How'd that run feel? How're Louie & you doing with the ?

I'm feeling pretty good, but I will tell you that Mon. Tues. & Weds. were rough! Lack of training bites you in the end. Weds. I went for a 2 miler (OUCH!). But yesterday I got a real easy 5 in with Spencer early in the a.m. That felt great. :yay: Otherwise everything is status here. I guess I'll start training for the Disney 1/2!:rolleyes1. Actually, I'm going to do all of Spencer's Saturday LRs with him & run myself during the week. Thinkiing serious hill training is in order!:laughing:popcorn::

I got out today in the glorius weather for a run:

Miles: 10.0
Time: 1:25:42
Pace 8:34
Splits: 8:32, 8:38, 8:15, 8:23, 8:33, 8:22, 8:46, 8:48, 8:52, and 8:31.

It felt good, I was a bit tired near the end, but pushed through it.

I'll post more tomorrow. Sorry for the all about me post.

Hi to all!!! Have a great week!

:grouphug:

Howard

Jen - Glad you enjoyed the trip to WDW.

CindyLou - I think I have the same feeling about Goofy training as you do. Yes, I am not sure what to make of the owl/squirrel. It was a cool running experience. If it was an omen I hope I am not the squirrel.

Jodi - I wouldn't worry about how you ran last week. That week was a complete blur. You have plenty of time to train for a 1/2.

Colleen - Thanks for posting the NYC pics on FB.

Colleen & Jodi- Someone posted the entire NYC marathon finish on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/user/lagalagny#p/u/0/o59pTjKI4zw). I wasn't able to find myself. I think it starts with the women's winner and goes all the way to the end.

Howard- What's up with the speedy training runs? Save some for the races. You must be injury free now. That's good.

Cindy & Matt - Hope you enjoyed your trip to the Shenandoah. Hey, I am eyeing up a marathon ion Charlottesville in April that is close to their. Would you guys be interested? http://www.charlottesvillemarathon.com/

Hey everyone!

Got in 12 miles yesterday morning. The weather was clear, cool and crisp. Felt pretty good for the entire run but my legs got heavy the last 6 miles. I think the cold/flu and the 26.2 miles I ran last weekend kind of hit me.

It will be fun to run Philly in less than 2 weeks. I think I will have a hard time getting motivated for Goofy after Philly and NYC. To be honest, I kind of regret signing up as I am not that excited about it. Hopefully that will change as the races get closer.

Lou

Accounting for my whereabouts:thumbsup2

Cam - :hug:My family sends their deepest sympathies for your loss. Lots of thoughts and prayers are with you.

Lou - Loved the race report and I'm sure Philly will be a fun run for you:yay:. Hopefully you won't remain in a funk for Goofy training. Sorry about the Phils...

Mike - Are you still running Richmond this weekendpopcorn::? If so, I hope you have an awesome race and fully expect a BQ time without a doubt

Jen - I hope your travels home from WDW were uneventful and that you had a great time on vacation:goodvibes.

CindyLou - Fat and out of shape:rotfl2::lmao:? Sorry your run was brutal yet I'd definitely chalk it up to the impending cold. Lots of :wizard: for you.

Dave - Congrats on the MVMCP tickets for the family:cool1:. Glad you were able to get a good run in:cheer2:

Cindy - Sorry you're having to put in a ton of hours at the office:sad1:. We're off to Jamaica on the 21st so I was hoping you could share any suggestions for must do's while there:thumbsup2

Colleen - On that note, Royal Decameron Club Caribbean in Ocho Rios. We're doing a vow renewal on the beach on Thanksgiving Day and their wedding coordinator has been most helpful:cloud9:. Looking forward to the all inclusiveness affording me some mindless downtime:laughing: on vacation. Admittedly, slowing down and relaxing aren't my strong suits:rotfl2:.

Jodi - My newest dog has a leg issue and it's choosing between running after work and taking him to the vet :rolleyes1. I don't want to be negligent but I want to run:confused: It's great you're going to do all of Spencer's LR's with him:lovestruc.

I'm embarrassed to even try to throw out another lame excuse about how I can't seem to train for the marathons I sign up for:rolleyes: Way, way too much to do and I really need to carve out some dedicated time to get the miles in. Hopefully I can hook up with some Jamaican runners and take advantage of the time away from my insane daily life to get in some runs on vacation. Yoga's not going to cut it for 26.2:hippie:

Sara, your trip sounds wonderful!:lovestruc I hope you have a relaxing vacation.

Cam, I too am sorry for your loss.

Lou, ready for Philly? Can't believe you are going to pound out another marathon.:cool1:

Chester, are you heading to Hawaii this December? Is it 25 years for you and Tracy?

Howard, my man, wow, you are putting in some great miles lately!

Cindy, Matt, Mike, Kathy, sorry we won't be seeing you all this weekend. I am very sad, :sad1: so in my sadness, I went ahead and booked our flights for Disney marathon weekend!:banana: I am not sure if either of us will be running the marathon, but we will be there to scream team. Good luck to you all in Richmond. MIke, is Kathy doing the half?

Have a great day!

Good to know so I won't have to feel too badly if I bag the 26.2 and Mike and I simply scream team for all of our WISH'ers:grouphug:

Mindy - I hope you both have a rockin race in Richmond this weekend

Cam and Howard - Thoughts and prayers are with you and yours !

Managed to get in a few miles this morning :cheer2: The warm weather is really helping with the motivation :hippie: Have a great week everyone.

Biggest Party in Marathoning Set for February 28, 2010

New Orleans, LA – June 9, 2009 –The Competitor Group and the New Orleans Track Club today announced a multi-year licensing agreement for the Mardi Gras Marathon. The Rock ‘n’ Roll Series will add the Mardi Gras Marathon to its roster of races, hosting the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras Marathon ½ Marathon in New Orleans on Sunday, February 28, 2010.

“This new partnership will allow our event to showcase its incredibly flat race course, highlight many of our city’s famous attractions, feature local musicians and will provide for continual growth of our local running community,” said Aaron Boudreaux, President of the New Orleans Track Club. “We are looking forward to hosting tens of thousands of runners and walkers from across the country so that everyone can see and experience what we already know – that New Orleans is the greatest running city in the world.”

Registration for Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras is open on the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series website http://runrocknroll.competitor.com/mardigras/. The first 500 participants to register for either the marathon or half marathon will receive a special $50 entry fee. In 2009, two inaugural Rock 'n' Roll events in Seattle and Chicago have sold out , so runners are encouraged to register early as space is limited.

“Since the inaugural marathon in 1998, the Rock ‘n’ Roll brand has become synonymous with fun, entertaining and fitness-focused community events, said Bruce Herring, Senior Vice-President of Events for the Competitor Group. “And with charity partners fundraising over $190 million (net) through the Rock ‘n’ Roll series to date, the events have quickly become the most successful charity fundraising platforms in the industry.”

The Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon format is an enjoyable experience for both race participants and spectators with live local bands at every mile along the course playing original and cover songs to energize the runners. The races also feature a cheerleading spirit competition, which showcases local cheerleading squads along the sidelines rooting for race participants all the way to the finish line.

Event weekend kicks off at the Superdome February 26, with a two-day Health Fitness Expo where all participants pick up their race packets. The expo will feature more than one hundred running and fitness retailers, exhibits and interactive clinics.

In true Rock ‘n’ Roll fashion, New Orleans runners will be treated to a post-race concert after the event. All participants and volunteers receive free entry to the concert. Past headliners have included the Goo Goo Dolls, Chris Isaak, Martina McBride, Kenny Rogers, Chicago, Sara Evans, Sugar Ray, Ozomatli, INXS, LIVE and Collective Soul.

The marathon and half marathon will be the eleventh event in the national series of musically themed marathons and half-marathons. In 2008, three of the four largest combined marathon and half marathon events in the world were part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series. For more information about the Rock ‘n’ Roll Mardi Gras or to register online, please visit www.RunRocknRoll.com

Chester, are you heading to Hawaii this December? Is it 25 years for you and Tracy?

Colleen
The Anniversary was June 23rd, we are just going to Hawaii to celebrate it. That and so I can run a marathon in another state. Tracy is registered to participate, but I don't know if she will since she is a using the Jodi marathon training plan for non-trainers.:rotfl:

New Orleans is in my radar, but I still want to do a Fall/Winter marathon too. What's out there? I'll probably apply for NY this year.

Happy thoughts for all the Bots!

Chester

Cam and Howard –

Colleen – I’m sorry that we won’t get to see you this weekend. But we are staying in the same hotel in January, so I’ll see you then!

Sara – I’m probably not going to be much help on what to do in Jamaica – we never left our resort and we were in Negril (loved it – what a great trip). Staying at an all inclusive is great – just take advantage of everything your resort has to offer – that’s what we tried to do. One thing – since you are in Ochos Rios, I know one thing that most people do on that side of the island is go to Dunn River Falls. Your resort can probably arrange that for you.

Chester – I definitely want to do a fall marathon next year.

Lou – I was looking at the Charlottesville Marathon last year and would be interested. As for running the Goofy. If you are in great shape for Philly (which you are) you will have no problem completing an easy Goofy. The longest run I did in between last year was 16 miles. I really wish I was in that position this year.

Jodi - Intersting about the NYC Half. Unfortunately, that is the same weekend as the National Marathon.

The Mardi Gras marathon sounds fun. I just checked, it is actually a week or two after Mardi Gras, so that means the crowds should be less. Also if you do two or more rock n roll events in a single year, you get extra "heavy medals". I've also wanted to try to run a bunch of rock n roll events to get some of the heavy medals.

Lou Charlottesville is supposed to be a good race, but I looked at it last year and the city only allows them to have a max of 15 porta potties at the start of the race:scared1: thousands of people and only 15 porta potties. That is my worst race nightmare.

As for me, I'm feeling sick just like Cindy. Unless I recover fast I'm not sure I'll be able to run the full marathon in Richmond. Hopefully I can at least do the half.

Oh no, Mindy! I hope you guys feel better...:sad1:. That sucks that the National Marathon is the same weekend as NYC 1/2; I was actually considering National...

Mike - What's the dilly-o, bro? All ready for this weekend, or what??

I wanna do; Mardia Gras full; RnR Chicago 1/2; Seattle RnR full; NYC Half; 50 miler in April; New Hampshire Marathon (fall) & anywhere else the BOTS decide to go.

But seriously, can we get it together for next year, people?????! I've given up on the whole relay thing, but at least we could run a 1/2 or full together! Sheesh.

Hi everyone! Thank you for the words of support for Cam, me and family. We had Cam's brother's services today followed by a get together at his children's/Ex wife's home close by. It was tough, and sad to have a brother or BIL pass away at 41. He had a lot of friends show up today and his best friend had some great stories about him. I wanted to share this, John and Karen Ryan (and grandson J.D.) from the WISH team came down from Jackson, NJ to Woodbury, NJ for the viewing on Monday evening, surprising us and bringing a bright spot to an otherwise dismal day. They are such great friends as are all of our friends here.

I am not in the mind-set for deciding races for 2010 at the moment, but I definitely like the thought of running something with all of you. Mardi Gras sounds fun. I will look at a list of all marathons in the U.S. very soon and see what I can plan for 2010. I want to do some new races this year. I will not be going back to the Marine Corps this fall, two in a row are enough. It is in a good fall time slot and there have to be others I can run (Baltimore?). I am in the lottery for New York and will hope that that one becomes a reality this year.

Enjoy the rest of your week. I am back at work tomorrow after a day and a half off. I'll get some runs in as I am able.

Mike, Matt, etc.~ Best of luck this weekend in Richmond!

:grouphug:

Howard

Colleen - I am ready for Philly. NYC feels like it was a month ago now. I am totally recovered..even the cold is gone.

Sara - Welcome back! Good to see you getting back in the swing of things. The weather is incredible here and I guess it's incredible all the way up to your neck of the woods.

Chester - I would apply for NYC until you get in. I haven't run in that many places but I cannot see another race living up to that one except for Boston and possibly Chicago.

Jodi - I think the NYC 1/2 is a strong possibility.

Diamond Dave - Pittsburgh could be fun. I'd like to catch that new Pirates stadium. I have never been west of Penn St in PA.

Cindy - I am going to be dogging it for Goofy. That being said, the competitive side of me will probably kick in some time in December and will contemplate running some "goofy" time for the full. I'm just not that psyched about it now. Lets keep Charlottesville on the radar. Good luck in Richmond!

Matt - 15 porto potties for 3500 runners??? That's some scary math. Heck, LBI must have had 50 of them at the start for 100 runners. As a guy I think I could find plenty of ways to improvise if necessary. As I said to Cindy, keep it on the radar. Good luck in Richmond!

Howard - You guys must be going through a lot right now. My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to you and Cam and the family. 41 is so young. You and I need to plan a December LR in Philly like last year.

Hey Mike, Jen, CindyLou!

Got in 4 today. Legs were not as heavy as on Sunday. I will try to find time to get in 2-3 more runs this week but work has been rough.

New Orleans looks fun. Bourbon Street after a marathon is my kind of rehabilitation. The BOTS catching beads from the balconies after the race! :cool1: If I didn't run WDW in January it would be about a 95% chance to run it. That being said, I am booked to run WDW and would have to figure out a plan to make that work because I know I would catch #$%^ for it. Since I have lots of family in Slidell, LA I have lots of options to make it work affordably. If I don't run Mardi Gras in 2010 it is almost a guarantee I'll run it in 2011.

If you guys pick a spring race east of the Mississippi and north of the Mason Dixon line you can count me in. Outside of those boundaries I need executive approval before I commit.

Lou

Hey Everyone,

No Mardi Gras for us in 2010 but 2011 would be a possibility.

We were actually looking at a new one in NC. http://tobaccoroadmarathon.com/index.php?action=page&page_id=13

It's the same weekend as the National (and the NY half) but I'm kind of up for something different that weekend. I'd be willing to be a guinea pig for the first time race.

Charlottesville is always on my radar.

I still like the idea of Las Vegas in 2010.

Jodi - A 50-miler in April? There is one right here. It's pretty (O.K. really) hilly but could be fun. If you are interested, I'll do it too! http://www.vhtrc.org/brr/

Tobacco Road Marathon looks interesting. O.K. so now I have January, February and March scheduled - where can I go for April?
