The $2,088.47 Disney Dining Experience! Update 9/29 - Everything Pop

Just read your entire review while sitting @ baseball practice. We are going to many of the same places. I'm very excited about most, but a little nervous now about O'hana. Can't wait to read more about your CS & snacks!!

Thank you so much for your great reviews and advice about enjoying your family. My babies are 2 1/2 and 5 months, but I know they will be grown before I know it. I have so enjoyed reading about your wonderful family and hope I always remember to enjoy the little things. You are an inspiration to me:goodvibes

Thank you, what I wouldn't give to be able to go back in time, even for a day or two. Enjoy each day!

Don't worry about Ohana, what's the worse thing that can happen... PIZZA:rotfl2:! I think back to all the practices I sat at and actually read magazines/books over and over again... what a joy it must be to have the internet!

I booked the party on the first night of our vacation, and to the best of my knowledge at that time, this would be the last night it would presented. I was very excited about it, even though some of the reviews were coming back negative. First, I booked it for DS's birthday which was exactly one week before the event. Second, I kept it secret. This is big for me. Secrets do not come easy, and are punishable in my family if "I" am not allowed in on them. Yes, I am selfish that way. So the background is a day that started around 3am., and a full day at Magic Kingdom, talk of a secret throughout the day, and snatching of desserts from Mom at dinner. All went well. We had 8pm. reservations for the 9pm showing of Wishes.....

At 7:30pm, I was shot!! 100% down and out couldn't walk another step "shot". (bad back + stubborn + refusal to use any sort of help = SHOT)

We arrived at 7:30 at the Noodle Terrace Station and they had the signs up for the party but were not letting anyone in. I asked a worker if I could just please sit inside because of my back and I must have looked horrible cause they led us in, got me cold water, and said that we would be the first to our tables. We were given a card with the letter "C" and we waited. A little bit later other people showed up, but no one else was allowed in until 8ish. Sorry to those who thought I was breaking the rules, I really did need to sit. We were given our wrist bands and were seated in what I thought was the best seat in the house. Front row, near the buffet, off a bit in the corner and perfect for viewing everything around us. I told my son that I had booked him a private party for his birthday and that "he" was very special to get it. He actually believed me for a good part of the evening. But, best of all, I broke my no picture rule, so here it goes...

The Desserts:

The desserts:

Mango Shooters: Very good, tart, and have a "consistancy" to them. I am sure they are a hit or miss with people.
Chocolate Covered Strawberries: Excellent!! The berries were perfect, not mushy or overripe and the chocolate was very good, definetely not Hershey's.
Tiramasu: Very rich and wonderful. DS started a new love affair with this dessert!
Tarts: Different fillings like lime, custard, and chocolate. All very good. The fruit was excellent, except the crust was not "homemade". It was more of a mass produced bottom and it was very evident. Still very good though.
Fresh Fruit: very good, fresh, and cold for the first half of the evening.
Truffles: very good, but rich, one at a time... one at a time!;)
Creme Brulee: I was so excited to try this. I have never had it and it was on a lot of the menus throughout Disney. It was so wonderful and I found a new "favorite" for desserts. I still dream about them. I have even googled restaurants in our area looking for them.... Yes it was that good!
Peanut Butter dessert: Also very good and rich....
Cookies and Brownies: Oh my, I am editing this in, I can't believe I forgot them! Soft wonderful large cookies and brownies sent from the Heavens, thick and chewy. So delicous. We wanted to put them down, stop going for more, but they called our name.. (They named me thick waistline:))

Off to drinks: Coffee, tea (hot), tea cold unsweetened - plain and blackberry, lemonade, milk, and water... I would recommend anything unsweetened to take the bite off all the desserts you are eating!

Now that was all the food, which there was plenty of and was refilled whenever needed.

My review of the party:

I am old enough to know that you need to make the best out of any situation. I thoroughly enjoyed the party. The view of the castle was breath-taking. The view of wishes was very good and I was totally engulfed in the magic from start to finish. Tink waving as she flew by was like a dream coming true. It was pure magic. My whole family felt this way. We all felt privledge to be able to be part of the party. There were tears from all sets of eyes in my family.

Quote of the night: Me to DS: "I planned this all for you! It is your night, enjoy it." DS to me: "I love you, Mom."

**just a side note, I stated above that I make the best out of everything. During the whole party, I was really in a lot of pain. It really must be something very special for me to be able to eat as much as I did while feeling this way, and also standing for the whole showing of Wishes. I never stand. I have seen Wishes from many different views. Each view if different and unique. This view was magical. I felt like a queen next to her Castle.

Below are the views of the OP and just that, MY VIEWs. I do not mean to take away from any other reviews of the event, good or bad!

Was it worth the money? Absolutely, even with the increase that was just put through. Will I do it again? Definetely, in a heart beat. Why do I think there are bad reviews of the event? It is the end of the night, everyone is tired. People tend to go in with the attitude that everything has to be perfect because you are paying for it, an entitlement thing. Was everything perfect? Absolutely, NOT. Is anything in life absolutely perfect, NO, because then everything would be predictable and boring!!

Thank you for all your reviews, but especially this one. We were lucky enough to get reservations for October 24th (I had DBF call the day the extension was announced) and I've been reading some really negative reviews lately. Your's made me feel so much better about spending the extra money on this. We are doing this as a surprise for my "sister-in-law's" birthday which is that same day....we think she'll be excited...yes we are all in our 30's, but we LOVE all things Disney, so I'm sure we'll be acting like kids!

Personally, I feel that the party is for pre-teen to adult. Not that small children will not enjoy it, but even if you look at the drinks, it is set up for adults.

I'm glad to read such a great review of the party. I'm attending it next month, and am so excited.

We will be there that night too!! :cool1:

I was looking forward to this review as well. I'm glad you had such a good time. I am surprising my Mom and Dad with this and the secret is KILLING me:rotfl2: The only thing holding it in is the idea of seeing my Dad's face when he sees a whole buffet of dessert:goodvibes I am a little worried that the little ones will get fussy, but usually if you give DS 2 cookies and brownies he becomes the energizer bunny. The coloring pages should be a hit as well. If I have too, I can take DD over to the baby center to nurse in the quite. I'll be happy with a heaping plate of dessert even if I don't get to see all (or any) of Wishes.

Thanks for the Crystal Palace breakfast review. This is another restaurant that we are eating at. We have had lunch and dinner there, but not breakfast. I was at first upset that I couldn't get the lunch there on our last half day at MK, prior to leaving for MCO.

thank you for your detail report on the dessert party...I'm going back and forth with this one but I'm not sure if my 4 yr would enjoy it...I wish I can decide on that day to see how tired he is but I guess I might have to pass on this one. Hopefully this works well and they have it for awhile.

I just came across your Dining Reviews. I have book many of the same restaurants. I also have a Wishes Dessert Party booked. In just over a week I will be at WDW eating all that yummy food!

I am jealous, I can just dream about it now for another year!;)

As for Ohana, Now I don't feel like the only family who did not enjoy this meal. We went last summer and everyone hated it. We will never go again.

We also did not like it. Worst meal of our trip last summer. Maybe we should have had a Lapu-Lapu...........

So I am sitting on the couch, staring at the screen. I am ready to do my Crystal Palace review, but deep down inside, I realize that brings my trip to an end. Yes, I know CS is looming, and there are 40 snacks to re-live in my mind. But TS defined our family vacation. This was MY vacation. The family knew it. My babies were gone. I knew it a few years ago, but now it is etched in school grades and "teens" next to the number of years they have been with me. It was the best time I have ever had. TS was our dinners together, just like at home (even if it was a breakfast while at Disney). The meal that bonds us together. Even if it is a bowl of cereal, we eat dinner together. It has been a wonderful time for us. My DD is a senior this year and getting her home and to the table is getting harder and harder. We have to go look at colleges in the next few weekends. DH and DS want to stay home. Less meals together already. So for those reading and planning, whether it be CS or TS, or even pizza on the bed, enjoy your family meals on vacation. I promise, even if your kids fuss or fart, it will be worth every minute!

This brought tears to my eyes! As with your dining reviews, your wording captures the moments perfectly.

Thank you so much for sharing.

the dessert party sounds wonderful. Thank for for such a detailed review. We are not going to Disney until next summer, I hope they are going to have it then. Sorry to hear you were in so much pain. I hope you feel better now!

Sorry about the tears. But I meant every word I wrote. I can't believe how quick it went. I truly understand the mentality of Grandparents though. They know how precious the time is, and they learn to use it wisely.

Many many thanks for your Dessert party review...I booked it for our MVMCP night and I cannot wait to go!
