Well Fockers, my baby boy starts preschool tomorrow afternoon! All week I was looking foward to getting rid of him for a couple of hours but now that the day is almost here I want to bawl my eyes out! :sad1:

He's been to daycare before, and the church nursery, and sitters but he has always had his sister there with him. Not tomorrow though and I'm nervous about leaving him and how he will do. He is such a mama's boy. :sad2:

Bedtime is getting better though and I'm hoping it'll get easier as we go into the weekend. Their father decided to call tonight around 9 and when I told him they were in bed he sounded shocked. :headache: Oh well too bad for him. He of course promised to call tomorrow before DR heads off to school but I wouldn't bet my last dollar on that one. :sad2:

:hug: :hug: I bet he has a great time! I used to repeat to myself "it's good for them to meet new people...." so that I could drive back home!

Now I think "that goodness they're out there meeting new people so I can get stuff done in the house!" ;)

We'll be here for you and the time will fly by! :thumbsup2

I still don't get it either. Does anyone??? :confused3
How does Canada work? Do u vote on a PM or just the regular Ms?? :confused:

Up here you vote for your MP (Member of Parliament) so sort of like a US senator or congressman. The Prime Minister is the head of whichever party ends up holding the majority of seats in Parliament. So when you go to the voting booth you are not voting for a Prime Minister like you do with a Presidential candidate (although many people allow who the party leader is to influence which MP nominee they vote for). Make sense?

Sort of..........are they arranged by province? Is there a Lord and Common house like in UK??

CE--yes, that does sound familiar---his turned out to be pneumonia which was causing the sepsis (which just means all-over infection) and hepatitis (which really is just inflammation of the liver unless you specify A/B/C type).
The Remicaid infusion that he takes for RA caused the severe reaction.
Good news was that IV Levaquin fixed him right up and he went from death's door back to his barn door in 5 days. (he's a farmer)

FYI--my Hep B shot that I got in 1990 is still good, but they check the titer from time to time, so apparently it can wear off. The kids both have Hep A shots (that's the one you get from bad food), but I don't.

Keep us updated on her progress.

Excellent, thanks. I'm sure her stress levels kind of lowered her defenses, but hopefully she's not also fighting anything too horrible besides this.

She is on the IV and she went down tonight for a CAT scan. She will have an EKG and a liver ultrasound tomorrow. Dad sounded pretty upbeat, so I'm not too worried, though I wouldn't go right to "unconcerned." :hug:

He'll be OK, Lori, and so will you. :hug: I hope his dad doesn't disappoint. :hug:

Each province has it's own provincial government with a provincial leader so basically like the governor. The election of those representatives is completely separate from the federal government elections. We don't have a Lord house but we do have a Senate which is probably about the same thing. They don't really do much when it comes to law making though that is all left to Parliament as the Senate is not elected but appointed.

So you have on the Federal level Parliament and the Senate and then each province has its own provincial leader. :teacher:

So the provincial leader is in charge of the province AND is in the parliament? That's a big job.
Who appoints the Senate? What do they do?

Hope she has a good nite--it's never fun in the hospital--they kept waking my Nana up last week to give her a breathing treatment.....after they had given her a sleeping pill....then she was jazzed up on Albuterol and couldn't sleep. :sad2:

Nope the provincial leader is not in Parliament at all, they do not deal with anything on the federal level just provincial level. The MP's that are elected represent the various regions in Parliament on the Federal level.

The Senate is appointed by the Governor General (The Queen's representative in Canada) on the advise of the Prime Minister. The number of Senators each province has is determined by size/population. Once elected the Senator can stay in their seat until they are 75. In order for a bill to pass the Senate and the Commons (what everybody just refers to as Parliament) both have to pass it but it is really rare that the Senate does not pass a bill that the Commons brings forth since the Commons are the publicly elected officials.

It's nutty. :sad2: They already gave her food right when she got there, then told her she shouldn't eat. :rolleyes: Dad says her sherbet melted. :upsidedow

That is MY kind of ironing! :thumbsup2 I am a hang dryer of many things, so I shake out the clothes and hang them to dry. Then I pray they dry nice, so I don't have to plug that thing in. If DH is home, I usually ask him to iron for me. He irons all of his dress shirts to a crisp each day! YUCK!

Hiya Fockers!! We got home Sunday night and had to hit the ground running...

Welcome back LL! It was so good seeing you too. And :hug: on the sickness, get better soon.

OK, it's just barely started, but here it goes!

OyFay!

:goodvibes

:woohoo: and I love the title :rotfl:

Nothing is as frustrating as trying to explain the American electoral system to a bunch of Canadians and an Eastern European. My head feels like it is going to explode. :rotfl: I just spent the past 30 minutes trying to explain it to them and they still don't get it. :lmao:

Don't worry, half the people in the US don't understand it either. :sad2:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well not much here, went to pick up my brother from the airport as he returned from his vacation too.
Finally unpacked and did :laundy:.
Read a little bit of Eclipse because I HAVE to catch up with the rest of the world and that's it.
Goodnight guys. :cloud9:
Mel & LL- Welcome home! :banana:
TE- I don't know why Katt's telling me "suck from above" sounds dirty to me. :confused3 ;)
I'm glad to hear BA got some crafting skillz. :rotfl:
CE- I hope your mom gets some answers and feels better soon. :hug:
Katt- I'm here now. I took B to the ortho appt, then went to the museum, and then went to dinner at MIL's. We didn't get home until after 9, then I had to watch Big Brother. Now, I'm headed to bed! I'm beat!
