Super Bowl 44 Predictions

It's football, and it doesn't matter what a city has been through etc. In football there is no "destiny". People could've said that it was for the Colts in 2005 after Dungy lost his son right before the playoffs, which I feel is a bigger blow to a team then a hurricane. But its football, the guys who step up, and want it, and play the better game.

The colts are Indianapolis. That's why they got a new stadium, and now we are getting the Superbowl in a few years. We love our football, which is crazy since Indiana is known for loving our basketball.

The thing that makes me the proudest about being a colts fan is there are no gimmicks. We've had the classiest head coach, and we don't worry about the trade drama. They make normal guys into stars. You didn't get drafted? No big deal, you can be a pro bowler. :thumbsup2
Only something like 8 guys have ever played for another team. And our rookie receivers are kicking some butt! Blue with pride. :cloud9:

I agree. I don't think the Saints are going to win because of a hurrican that happened 5 years ago. I don't think that hurricane should come up at all in football talk. Football is about who has the better team and how those teams play.

Thought this was interesting: A comparison of Drew Brees vs. Peyton Manning

MANNING/ BREES

Passing Yards - 4,500/ 4,388

Average - 7.9/ 8.5

Completion Pct. - 68.8/ 70.6

Rating - 99.9/ 109.6

Passing TD's - 33/ 34

Rushing TD's - 0/ 2

Interceptions - 16/ 11

Ok, Brees had better numbers this year. But, Peyton proved to be more valuable to his team and has had better career numbers. How many times over the season did Peyton take the ball in the 4th quarter when his team was down and take charge and lead the Colts to victory? Also, what are Brees' numbers since the loss to the Cowboys? After that game the Saints cooled down. Also, if Brees is really an elite QB, then how come the Saints had to settle for a Field Goal to win against the Vikings and how come they didn't score more after the 6 interceptions.

I'm mostly a lurker, but I LOVE the Colts and football in general. So, when I see my beloved quarterback in a pink tutu, that's when I come up for air!:) Or, when I see someone say the only reason he won the MVP is because of his name---oh no, no, no:sad2:, I'm going to have to comment on that. Those may have been viewed as bashing to some, but I'm just trying to talk football and show the "other" side.

Rachel:earsboy::earsgirl::earsboy::earsgirl:

The picture of Peyton in the tutu was just horrible whoever posted it!!! Peyton Manning is one of the best to ever play the game and no matter what team you cheer for you should respect the guy.

I understand what the city of New Orleans had to go through after Hurrican Katrina, but I don't think that should be an important thing when talking football. Even in New Orleans if someone says something about it you don't have to talk about it. No one is forcing any Saints fans to discuss Hurrican Katrina. I'm from New York and I had to experience September 11. After September 11 the Yankees and baseball took a large role in the city because they made the world series the SAME year. But, real Yankees fan knew that the events were not going to make anymore people route for the Yankees or did it make the Yankees destined to win. Look what happened, the Diamondbacks won the world series.

You know, it's fine if you don't want to discuss Katrina- that's your privilege. However, the Saints and Katrina will ALWAYS be discussed in tandem, because the Saints are a HUGE reason why this area rebounded the way it did. I think you should count your lucky stars that you don't want to discuss football in conjunction with a natural disaster- some of us do not have that luxury :sad2:

I am a New York Yankees fan and for a period of time the Yankees were discussed with September 11 because the Yankees bought the city so much hope right after it happened. But, by the time the 2002 season started September 11 was no longer being talked about with Yankee baseball.

And nobody forces you to discuss football with a natural disaster. If someone brings it up you could simply just say "I'm a football fan and the hurrican has nothing to do with football"

I saw printed form and ESPN was playing the interview during NFL Live(I think that was the show). I can't say if it was in its entirety, but they had the question and then William's answer.

I think Williams was paying Peyton a compliment when he was talking about his internal clock and quick release. Unfortunately, he then went on to say that they needed to deliver some "remember me shots" and that he wasn't going to tell his players to pull up(on instances when Peyton had gotten rid of the ball) because they were worried about a late hit penalty and that if they do get flagged, they had to hope he didn't get back up and play again.

Some of this may have been said tongue in cheek, but it's still bad form. Especially when they just came off a game against the Vikes where the media is questioning some late hits. It just didn't help his cause. This also comes as the head of officiating said that there should have been a low hit called on the Saints during the 3rd quarter when Favre threw an interception and the game was tied at 21 at the time. I don't know the player involved or the circumstances surrounding it because I didn't see it. I just saw it scroll across the bottom of ESPN's breaking news screen. This just helped reinforce what some in the media were already saying.

The last thing that has to be taken into consideration is that the Colts have seen Williams before when he was defensive coordinator with the Redskins, Titans and Jaguars. There has been some bad blood between his defense and our offense. It doesn't mean that everything he ever did was dirty, but it's just another reason why people are reacting to his comments.

I honestly don't think there will be many questionable hits during the game because the officials will be looking out for it. They have all heard this and will be watching both teams.

Rachel:earsboy::earsgirl::earsboy::earsgirl:

Ok, I just listened to the Gregg Williams interview- IN ITS ENTIRETY- not what little bit was fed to the genereal public, and honestly I don't get what the big deal is. Williams was asked how he was going to approach getting pressure on the quarterback while the focus is on "protecting the QB" i.e. throwing flags if a pinkie grazes the QBs face. Williams said he wasn't going to harp on that, because it messes with a player's rhythm...then he said, "YOU WANT ME TO SAY that I want the QB to get hit and not get up"...what is the big deal?

Here's a link- judge for yourselves- http://podcasting.fia.net/5885/4151948.mp3

Amen. Indy fans are the best. If they lose we don't go around trash talking the guys out there playing etc. We don't go trolling around.

There are good and bad fans for every team. There are Colts fans that are going to bad mouth the other team and go trolling around and there are Saints fans that are going to do it.

Rachel:earsboy::earsgirl::earsboy::earsgirl:

The NFL admitted that the Saints should have been penalized after the hit on Farve, so I agree that they will be watching a lot closer during the super bowl.

Bolding is mine- please listen to the link I posted- that is NOT what Williams said. He said one way to make the QB lose his accuracy is to deliver some "remember me" shots so he always has that in the back of his mind, which can then throw off his rhythm. He did not say he hoped if Peyton got hit he would not get back up- please listen to the interview...

Funny how the media didn't pick up the penalty that should have been thrown when Brees was picked up and body slammed.

I've seen this several times, and really don't get this reasoning. It seems to me this is another way of saying that w/o Manning the Colts wouldn't have made it to the Superbowl and the Saints are a more rounded team since they are not as dependent on their QB.

Look, I hope we have a good game next week, and I'm excited to watch it. I hope the Saints win. If they don't, they don't. I like the Colts and would pull for them if they were playing any other team. In the end, it is just a game.

Could you please make that alittle clearer:confused3 Some of the stats aren't under where they should be.

And either way, Peyton is still a better QB the Brees. In 20 years from now everyone will know Peyton Manning and besides from Saints fans few will remember Brees. And once again, I will say that Brees had a better season this year, but one great season doesn't stack up well against Peyton's 5+ great seasons.

:lmao::lmao::lmao: I'm not laughing at you, I'm laughing at the the thought of Curtis Painter, Colts and the Superbowl!!:rotfl:

Speaking for myself, I love our team(all 53 of them), but I know that the crux of our team is #18. Sure, our defense may stop the other teams, but I don't know if our offense would ever make it past midfield. Our backup is our 3rd stringer who is a rookie and has only played in 1 1/2 games.:scared1:

In my totally biased opinion, I think the Colts have the best overall team. I also believe that it circulates around the play and leadership of our quarterback.

I can't get my media player to open this, so I'll take your word for it.

Like I said before, I really don't think this will be much of an issue come gametime. There has been sooooo much attention given to this and hits on the quarterback in general, I think the officials will be watching both teams very closely. The NFL doesn't want Manning or Brees going out of this game.

Before I posted it, I said I didn't know how to make it clearer- it is cut and pasted...

And- one great season for Brees???? Check your facts- in the 4 seasons Brees has been here, he's had 4,000 yds (or close to it, and last year almost 5,000 yards) seasons for all of them. Definitely NOT a one hit wonder.

I dont think either team really wants the other QB out either. Because, think about it, if Manning leaves the game then forever people will always say that the Saints only won because Manning left. A lot of people (myself included) will never really give the Saints the full credit for winning the game. Same thing if Brees left the game, then the Colts would never be given the full credit by a lot of people (once again, myself included).

Ok, in 10 years if Brees puts up the playoff and regular seasons numbers that Peyton has over his career and if he gets 50,000+ yards, then I'll talk about Brees being close to Peyton on a career level.
