So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

sigh....i am so ready for this season to be over!!
I too am rather "meh" about the top 4..i really liked Janeatte and i do like Brandon..but the rest of them i could do without. Actually i should take that back a bit..i do like Evan alot, but i just dont' think he is a "top 4" dancer..amazing at his own style and he def. shows determination in the other styles..but just not GREAT.
After watching some of the Emmy nominated routines from last year, it makes me really think that even more than this crop of dancers having "lesser" personalities and stage presence, the choreographers have been pretty blah too! There was MAYBE one or 2 routines i can even recall being VERY good this season, I still remember at least 6 from last season. I don't know..i hope the fall season is better. And if i see Tyce Diorio do that suprised " WHO ME!???" look when his routines get praised, i might throw something.

I was ticked at first when - surprise, surprise - Evan drew a Broadway routine. But the choreography was nothing...D13 said, "I could do that mom." And she was right.

I was glad to see Melissa go. She rubbed me the wrong way from the very start and I never warmed up to her. She is a talented dancer, I will say that. But she just bugged me.

Woo! I am so glad Melissa and Ade went home! Sure they were great dancers, but they certainly weren't my favorite!

Funny - that's exactly how I feel about Kayla. Don't like her at all. If she wins, I will be happy that I don't have tickets for the tour.

Personally, I don't think this season is that much worse than last. I didn't warm up to anyone, and for those who think that Evan isn't as "good" a dancer, shall we remember that Joshua won last year? He also wasn't "as good". It is, however, worse than seasons 2 and 3.

I've been less invested in the show, I think, ever since Danny lost to Sabra. That one was absurd!

I didn't even remember who Danny was. I had to look it up.

I keep having to remind my family who are always upset when someone who they think is the "best" dancer goes home, its not who is the best.....its who is the favorite.

Yeah, I think what happened that season was, Neil and Danny split the "teen heartthrob" vote, that's why Sabra won. I was happy with her winning, but I think women are more likely to vote than men, and are most likely to vote for the hot guy. So, I think a guy winning again this season is a pretty safe bet.

Differently talented dancers have nearly always won over the contemporary dancers that appear more talented. I don't want to say that Benji is LESS talented than Travis or that Danny was more talented than Sabra. Being a skilled contemporary dancer doesn't make you MORE talented than a highly skilled ballroom dancer.

Danny's problem was that he was unlikable. He was arrogant and rude when critiqued. He was very much like Melissa was this season. She was considered a prima donna while he wasn't (and he was!)

Benji came across more 'fun' and likable than serious and moody Travis. Same with Joshua over Will. That is Evan's advantage. That and the mom vote.

The good news for Brandon is that he also lacks the serious brooding demeanor of many contemporary dancers. He doesn't come across haughty.

Well, I just watched the episodes on Tivo, which is why I'm a little late to the party.

After the solos, I realized why I would be happy with Evan winning - his style is just plain fun. I'm getting tired of the deep, angst-ridden contemporary. Evan's is light, entertaining and fun. Maybe that's why he's still there.

(Oh, and no one can convince me that Sabra didn't win because Nigel decided (and said so) that it was time for a woman to win.)

Apparently not - he is still there! And as I said, I am an Evan fan (although I do like Brandon, too). His dancing is so joyful. He doesn't look like he's in pain during his solo!

I like Evan, but I like that style of dance. I am not a fan of the contemporary, modern dance at all. The studio my girls used to dance for has their comp. teams doing that style now and I'm so glad we're not involved in it. I don't find it fun to watch at all.

That's why it is constantly emphasized that this is a show to find America's favorite dancer, not the best. If the show were for the best, Brandon wins hands down. But on the charisma scale, he just has no connection with the audience. Evan gets it and that's why he has staying power whether or not he is the best dancer out there.

Well, so far I wasn't all that impressed with the cheerleader routine. It was cute and fun but I didn't think it was all that.

Don't get me wrong I think Brandon is an excellent dancer BUT the judges are starting to get to me with their non stop campaign for Brandon..........tone it down already.

Evan's my favorite. I kind of hope he wins so that the judges can all be like "oh well I didn't see that coming..." and be all shocked and appalled. And I can sit here tomorrow night and go "in your FACE!"

...because I care entirely too much.
