So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

I am getting so tired of the judges HEAPING on praise on everybody but Evan. It's getting very irritating

I totally agree. Evan is amazing.

I hope Nigel is wrong about who he thinks is going to win--Brandon or Jeanine. I really dislike Jeanine, she's great but my least favorite. Brandon is amazing but he just kinda rubs me the wrong way.

I would be thrilled if Kayla or Evan won. Especially Evan..

Another one in the Evan camp. I always was. I think he is a wonderful DANCER, whereas the others also perform. I just don't get that contemporary stuff too much

I actually voted tonight. For Evan. because, darn it, I like him.

Since it is asking you to vote for your favorite, I did just that. I enjoy watching all of them but I enjoy Evan the most. I hated how the seemed to be saying he wasn't doing anything right. He wasn't nasty enough, blah, blah, blah. Sorry, and I don't mean this to sound racist but when you put a black guy and a white guy together like that, the black guy just looks better, different, has more soul, 99% of the time. I see it all the time. I think that must be where the movie "White Guys Can't Dance" got its name. It isn't a 100% rule but African-Americans generally have some type of rythem, soul, something going on that white people, in general, don't have.
But, I thought Evan did a great job even though he doesn't that *it*. I just thought there was so much this whole season that he met the challenge on that I was very surprised about. So, I think he did grow and improve.

I think they are all extremely talented and excellent dancers and entertainers. I'll be happy for whoever wins. But that Evan... he makes my heart smile.

A co-worker of mine has been campaigning for Evan. Her daughter is dating him. So naturally I voted for him.

Jeanine has my vote! As a dancer myself, I feel like she is exactly like me except a thousand times more talented. ;)

I liked Evan a lot in the beginning, but IMO, seeing basically the same solo week after week made me a little bored with it. But all four are talented dancers, and I can't wait to see who wins! :goodvibes

Wow! She is a lucky girl! :cloud9:

I voted for Jeannine, I think she is incredible. I wouldn't be dissappointed if her or Evan won.

The other two just drive me bonkers.

I agree with you about the other two. Jeanine and Evan have been my favorites since the first time the top 20 performed (Evan since auditions, can't wait to see more from his brother)..

BTW, thanks to this show I have officially signed up for a dancing class.

I like watching Evan and I think Kayla is stunning on the stage but I think my favorites are Brandon and Jeannine. I used to think I was the only one here who liked Jeannine, but it is nice to see she also has fans. I wish she would lose that full body caress she does but other than that she is amazing to watch. I must say that I hope Brandon wins but I would not be unhappy with any of them.

I like Evan-but I disagreed with Adam's statement last night that he has been the most popular/likable dancer on the show thus far. Benji was smokin' in popularity when he was on and though he was a swing dancer, his solos always seemed to have punch. I don't think Evan's routines can survive voter scrutiny to be anything memorable.

I would pick Jeanine over Brendan. Not sure why. But I'm just feeling her more. She can be strong, or soft in her routines as needed based on the role she is playing in that routine.

I am not a fan of solo dancing in general (no idea why--but I favor 2 or more dancers to play off of one another--I don't like monologues either). So if I took all that out--

I would have to pick Jeanine.

The Cheerleader routine was cute, but not memorable. Mia's choreography of the two girls--didn't go as far as I would have liked (I didn't feel the "conclusion" that they were portraying in their journey--I felt like there should be more.)

The Nasty Routine--I just didn't care for. Maybe bc it was a bunch of old school stuff. And the choreographer--what is up with the 1980s hotpink headphones????

Brendan and Kayla's routine--I thought it was unfair to Kayla to backlight the end and all you could see was Brandon. You could definitely see that Brendan was stronger than her in that routine and I felt the backlight just kind of put the icing on the cake for Brendan.

I was going to say I liked the opening couple routine--but must not have made too much of an impact on me as I can't remember who it was or what they did.

I think the judges overdid the praise on Evan last night b/c they couldn't quite compliment his dancing. Everyone was Wow--and Evan did the best that he could and they couldn't ask for more. So I think they were making up for it for complimenting his charisma.

My prediction is....Evan then Kayla will be eliminated and the winner will be Jeannine.

Evan's style is loose and relaxed. He doesn't have the strong, pent-up power that Brandon has. That doesn't make his dancing "worse" - it's just different. It's like looking at Gene Kelly's muscular, powerful dancing against Fred Astaire's loose elegance or even Buddy Ebsen's or Ray Bolger's "look at me I have no bones" style. All phenomenal, but in their own ways. (Brandon, after all, could never dance a scarecrow, but Evan could.)

So when they give the guys a "fight" and choreograph it with pent-up anger and taut muscles, well of course Evan will fall a bit flat (his size v. Brandon doesn't help there, either). Of course, I also measure any "fight" now against the duel between Danny & Neil. No choreographer has matched that one.

I was very disappointed in Mia's dance for the girls. They didn't dance together, There was no interaction. It was simply a synchronized piece. You could remove either one of them from it and it would be the same dance.

I have to say that I'm not passionate about any of them. I would like to see Evan win, just because he's so darned entertaining. But I won't be upset with any of them winning. I don't like Kayla, but I don't deny that she's an excellent dancer.

We'll see what happens. Though I will be surprised if Nigel doesn't get his way; he usually does. And I still don't believe that the votes are counted correctly, or even "count."

I think that Brandon is technically the best. I also think Kayla is wonderful, but she doesn't have the personality to be a crowd favorite.

I can't stand Jeanine and think that she should have gone home a while ago.

That being said, I voted for Evan. :)

Kayla deserves to win. She's technically perfect and can do anything. She's only 18. I hope she has some good guidance on how to make a career of it.

The lighting, generally, was poor last night. It was particularly obvious during Brandon/Kayla's piece, but it was also poor in a few other pieces. I think the lighting effect people should have worked a little more witht he TV people to get it right--the problems likely stem from being in a new venue.

My vote would be for Brandon, if I actually voted. I don't care for Kayla, I don't find her interesting, although she's a beautiful girl and a good dancer. Just no connection with the audience. Evan might yet win, it really depends on who votes and how. Regardless, I think any of them have a fine dance career ahead of them. I think Evan has done for Broadway dancing what Benji did for swing--people who would have never thought of it, ar enow looking and saying it looks interesting and fun. People would flock to see Evan in a great Broadway dance role, even if he's not as great, technically, as some other contestants.

I agree about the lighting..at one point I said, "Do they know this is on TV?" I feel like if the dancers can learn ALL those dances in a week, the tech crew should be able to get its act together, even if it's in a new venue.

I tried to vote for Evan last night, but couldn't get through.

I hated Brandon's solo routine last night. Sure, it was powerful but that's about it. All he seemed to do was jump around the stage. Speaking of which, he really does seem to be a one-trick pony. Power, power and more power. That's nice (and so is his body) but I would have liked to see more of his sweet personality come out in his dancing. The judges were poking fun at Evan last night about not having a mean bone in his body ... I had a heard time finding a soft spot in Brandon's dancing last night. I'm sure that he danced something more soft and smooth along the line, but nothing comes to mind right now. As for his Paso ... again, there was plenty of strength but where was the connection? I *adore* the Paso but I didn't see the connection between them, they both seemed to be dancing together but by themselves. Maybe that's because they are really competing as individuals instead of as partners but one seemed to want to upstage the other as the dance progressed.

And I guess I'm the only one who liked the Jive. Evan made it look easy and therein lies the problem. Instead of exploding everywhere with strength like Brandon (look at me! look at me!), Evan does it all without breaking a sweat.

As for Kayla and Jeanine, I go back and forth on them. I think that the edge goes to Jeanine for her personality.

I don't really care who wins. I'm not completely attached to any of them. I think Kayla is my least favorite of the 4.

Evan has the personality, hands down. He IS technically gifted. He just doesn't exude power and strength the way Brandon does. He has it, his style is just so much more relaxed. He makes it look easy, when it isn't! He is Benji to Brandon's Travis. And I think he just might take the "favorite" vote.

Nothing motivates people to pick up the phone like a judge bashing a contestant.

Jeannine's solo was AMAZING. She took huge risks and totally pulled them off. I hated Mia's routine with Kayla completely downstage into the light from Jeannine. It was very clear who Mia liked better.

Did you notice Wade dancing while choreographing his piece. He put both Brandon and Evan to shame.

I disliked both Brandon's and Kayla's solos. Frantic is right and Kayla didn't seem to do much.

I'm hoping Jeannine wins. I think the judges were setting up Kayla for the win last night. She is technically excellent but no personality. No connection, nothing. Last night was also the 1st night I thought she was pretty. Maybe because she was finally smiling in the cheerleader and jive routines.

I'm hoping the ranking goes Jeannine, Brandon, Evan, Kayla.

I agree with you on all points...except we we spent over a half hour voting for Evan and never got a busy signal.

I voted for Evan 7 times last night and had no trouble getting through at all. I took that as a bad sign for him.

I agree with RobinB's post also. And I enjoyed the jive too. Maybe just the 2 of us, huh, Robin? I don't know...but I thought it was good.

As far as them setting Kayla up for the win last night...HUH??? I did not get that vibe at all. I thought for the first time all season they were actually not liking her.
They kept saying how Brandon and Jeanine were the top 2 dancers for them--how can that be setting her up. I totally missed that.

I felt they were bashing Evan and when the audience started chanting "Evan, Evan.." it made me happy they liked him so much too. And whoever said the bashing will make someone pick up the phone, they are right, because I did. And I never vote on these shows.
