So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

I voted for Evan 7 times last night and had no trouble getting through at all. I took that as a bad sign for him.

I agree with RobinB's post also. And I enjoyed the jive too. Maybe just the 2 of us, huh, Robin? I don't know...but I thought it was good.

As far as them setting Kayla up for the win last night...HUH??? I did not get that vibe at all. I thought for the first time all season they were actually not liking her.
They kept saying how Brandon and Jeanine were the top 2 dancers for them--how can that be setting her up. I totally missed that.

I felt they were bashing Evan and when the audience started chanting "Evan, Evan.." it made me happy they liked him so much too. And whoever said the bashing will make someone pick up the phone, they are right, because I did. And I never vote on these shows.

Easy - it is the Daughtry effect. Last seen on SYTYCD with Jeannette. Heap praise on other dancers which makes voters think they are high vote getters. Voters vote for the underdog. The people who they think aren't getting any one else to vote for them.

How many people voted for Evan last night because he was bashed all night? Sure they may like his dancing but the motivation was 'they are so mean to him, I better throw him a few votes."

Same thing with Kayla. So much praise on Brandon and Jeannine that people vote for Kayla because they assume everyone else is voting for Brandon and Jeannine. They might like all the dancers but it is who the public perceives as "needing" their vote.

Remember Nigel has access to the actual numbers and it wouldn't shock me if the other judges know who people are voting for. It is a TV show and they do have a vested interest in the outcome. No 'reality' TV is actually real. I also don't think SYTYCD has to follow game show regulations.

None of the dancers wowed me this season. When they showed the dances from last year with Twitch and Katie (LOVE that door number - my favorite of all) and Mark and Chelsea, you just felt so much more. I liked Jeannette, but she was sent home too early.

That being said, I think Jeannine should win. Her solo last night was great. She really stepped beyond her own style. Evan is very likeable and I think he does great with Broadway. But I don't think he has been able to do as well as the other dancers with other styles.

I'm glad there's going to be a new season in the fall.

I think that Brandon is going to win. I do think he is a great dancer. I like Kayla. I think she brought more emotion to her dances than she got credit for. She is distraught in the addiction piece.


However, I agree the dances were just not as memorable as other years. I loved seeing Wade Robson dance Ramalama. He was great, his presence in the dance enhanced it.

Oh right I forgot about Ryan. Yes I think season 4 none of them were on SYTYCD so they did ABDC instead.

And I must say, I am quite excited for the back to back dance shows coming up! ABDC starts Sunday, and SYTYCD Season 6 begins just a month later!

I actually voted tonight. For Evan. because, darn it, I like him.

Since it is asking you to vote for your favorite, I did just that. I enjoy watching all of them but I enjoy Evan the most. I hated how the seemed to be saying he wasn't doing anything right. He wasn't nasty enough, blah, blah, blah. Sorry, and I don't mean this to sound racist but when you put a black guy and a white guy together like that, the black guy just looks better, different, has more soul, 99% of the time. I see it all the time. I think that must be where the movie "White Guys Can't Dance" got its name. It isn't a 100% rule but African-Americans generally have some type of rythem, soul, something going on that white people, in general, don't have. .

If we were talking about the general population of America as a whole, you may have more of a leg to stand on. But in the dance world, the odds are much different - lots of white boys sure can break it down and lots of black boys should be wearing tutus.

Flame on - I've been burned by the best of them!

I have huge, huge, huge favor! I just got home from the store and realized I missed taping the 1st hour of the finale!!! I am so upset...as I haven't watched in 2 weeks....so I didn't realize it was the final episode. My DH called my cell at 8:55pm and said "You do know your show started at 8pm, right?" Of course I had no idea! Can someone send me a DVD of the 1st hour??? I will pay for shipping!!!

Can I just say the for some reason Brandon and Lil' C are rubbing me the WRONG WAY. Lil' C likes to use these outrageous comparisons, and throws in one to many LARGE words, that really don't make sense. And Brandon, I just find him so completely fake that it isn't even funny...


So to the dancing the best couples of the night:

I have a question, if someone is a professional dancer, and they have a contract, are they disqualified like in American Idol? Like Kayla is already apart of a pretty well known Hip Hop group...

O.K. as much as it pains me to say it, they always deliver. Show after show they do awesome.
Kayla and Kupono~
I really didn't like them. At all. I am glad they were both in the bottom three, and I think they are the next couple to go.
Randi and Evan~
One of my favorite couples! I love their chemistry, and their dancing is wonderful.
Caitlin and Jason~
I cannot believe that they weren't in the bottom three. I didn't think they were better than Phillip and Jeanine. No way IMO.
Phillip and Jeanine~
Wonderful routine, really cute couple. Another favorite!
Ade and Melissa~
Their routine stank period. Romeo and Juliet? YOUNG LOVERS. She is like OLD, and he is no Romeo.

Overall I am glad Carla went home, and I am REALLY HAPPY that Vitolio went home as well.

Wow, Jason and Jeanine were incredible! I think they have a little something something going on :] That kiss was SEXY!

Kayla and Evan were just O.K. Their waltz didn't wow me.

Kupono and Randi's made me laugh. It was a HOT mess. And what was with the wig? Though it pains me to say it I think they are going home.

Melissa and Brandon, I am over both of them. They are talented yes, but they annoy the CRAP out of me. I hope one of them goes home soon.

Janeatte and Ade really great job. She has been growing on me, and I think she will be going far in her future! :}

So overall I think that Melissa and Kupono will go home tonight.

Tonight's dances were terrible, up until Jeanine and Brandon pulled themselves (and the rest of the evening) out of the toilet.

Though I must say having Ellen on the show added some hilarity to the night. She was so great.

But boy was I floored during the Melissa and Ade's breast cancer dance.
I didn't know at first whether to be offended or touched.
But as it went on I was more touched than anything else.
It was very powerful (heck it made Dr. Nigel Lythgow (sp?) cry).

But other than that routine nothing fantastic about to night, very long...
Tomorrow's show looks promising :]

That breast cancer routine was the ONLY thing that kept them there.
While the routine was wonderful I think it could have been done by any of the other dancers.

Tonight was really really annoying! Between Lil C's comments and having to see Melissa and Ade for another week, I am really not wanting to watch the show!
If Jeanine goes home I am not even going to bother! I dislike every guy dancer excpet for Evan just because every week he proves the judges wrong, and he just has such great charisma.
I dislike all of the girls except for Jeanine, and I am so tired of the grandparents in the audience shtick with Kayla.
I mean seriously it's not that cute...

It would be great if they did some kind of upate about the past season top fours. Does anyone know if the dancers get paid to go on the tour? I would assume so.

I was very happy with the conclusion. I enjoyed seeing some if the routines again. I really enjoyed the judges dancing.

I was disappointed on no updates on the SYTYCD alums. Dancers lead such hard lives it would have been great to hear where are they now.

No, those aren't the rules on SYTYCD. You can be a professional and dance professionally. Danny, for example, danced with the Kirov. The only thing that is required is that SYTYCD cannot interfere with your contract, and your contract cannot be exclusive.

There was a ballet dancer in Vegas this season who clearly would have made the Top 20, but he was under contract to Edward Villella and the Miami City Ballet. Nigel called to see if Villella would release him from his contract; Villella said no. Nigel encouraged the dancer (whose name I don't recall) to audition again once his contract expired.

I did enjoy the judges dancing, but I could have really done without the commercial for Fame.
