So You Think You Can Dance starts tonight!! Who's with me?

Just like last week when Melissa somehow got that awesome routine Evan just happened to get 2 routines with very similar styles to his own. Considering he stinks at any other style to me it means they are worried about him like they were Melissa last week so had to make sure he looked good.

I hope Melissa and Evan go home but I am worried about Ade and Jeannine

Ugh is right...
Tonight was really really annoying! Between Lil C's comments and having to see Melissa and Ade for another week, I am really not wanting to watch the show!
If Jeanine goes home I am not even going to bother! I dislike every guy dancer excpet for Evan just because every week he proves the judges wrong, and he just has such great charisma.
I dislike all of the girls except for Jeanine, and I am so tired of the grandparents in the audience shtick with Kayla.
I mean seriously it's not that cute...

Sorry, I really hate the way the season turned out..

I wasn't geting that vibe for Evan tonight. Usually the quick-step is the kiss of death. I'm hoping he can hold out til the top 4. I just like him. I think Brandon is my pick though.
I want Ade to go home already.

Lil C has been very wordy every time he has been a judge this year. He just talks and talks until you feel like sleeping or chasing your tail.

Mia actually said Janette was her favorite (and we saw how that worked out), and your DD was right on the money!! She also had very favorable comments for Kayla and Jason. The only dancer she had positive comments for that escaped the bottom 4 was Evan. I thouhgt the exact same thing when she made the comment to Janette: kiss of death!

You are right. I meant Janette. I have their names confused all season.

And he also has the strangest analogies and seems to make up words. It bothers me.

I'm not really crazy about any of the dancers this season the way I have been other years. Melissa and Ade should have gone home last week - the only thing that saved them was that Tice routine. (Actually, I think Melissa should have gone a long time ago!). I liked Jeanette and was sorry to see her leave. I think Brandon is the best of those left. Jeanine and Kayla are both very good also. Evan is very likeable, but I don't think he is strong enough in other styles.

And is it just me, or is Mary really starting to get on your nerves :confused3

Hope I like the fall season better.

Lil C talks a lot but he doesn't say anything. I have no idea about anything he said tonight.
I thought Mary and Nigel threw Melissa under the bus before the show even started and that was just tacky. They were upset that Janette went home last week and reminded the viewers to vote for the contestants who did well all season, not just someone who might have a great dance tonight. I hope she stays just because they made it obvious they want her gone and Brandon & Kayla in the top 4.
And Nigel was very tacky about that comment regarding his wife being mean. And Jeanette's top at the end. He is a dirty old man!

And did anyone else notice that they had Kayla front and center for most of that final routine except the small time that Jeanine was in front. They stuck Melissa in the back the whole time. And I'm not a big Melissa fan. This is just something I noticed tonight.

I was less than thrilled when I saw Lil C sitting in the judge's chair. He has the little-big man syndrome. He has to use all these fancy words, some I don't know if they really exist, to make himself bigger than he really is. I do think though that Cat Deeley does lay into him about it. After one of his "speeches" she said she had no idea what he just said and another time, she said some fancy stuff sort of poking fun at him.

As for the dancers, I like all the guys. Evan is likeable, but not as talented as the other 2. To me, Ade seems genuine - he always appears happy and his smile is contagious. Brandon, probably the best dancer there, but that doesn't always mean you win. His solo was incredible and God his body is simply amazing!

The girls, well I really like Jeanine. I'm not a big Melissa fan, I think all of her solos are very boring. Kayla to me is just as good as Jeanine, but I just like Jeanine better.

I do think that a guy is going to be a winner this year, I could be wrong and that would be fine, but I doubt I will be wrong! ;)

The show stopper last night was Brandon's solo. Wow! I was happy to see them give him the standing O, as usually they don't comment on the solos. But again, that was WOW!

I loved the boys routine at the beginning. It was quirky and really strong. The rest of the night was sort of forgetable. I did not like the disco. It looked really hard but not perfectly danced.

My favs are Jeaninne and Brandon. I like Kayla too. Her leg positions are amazing.

I also noticed that Melissa was not featured in the final routine. Kind of unfair!

I enjoyed seeing with my ears and listening with my eyes. :confused3 LilC usually craks me up with his weird stories. I thought he was flat last night.

Last nights show was the most boring semi final EVER. It was horrible. I get these dancers have talent and are all very technically skilled but not one connects with the audience on a personal level. Jeannette was the closest to making me want to root for her and look what happened there.

I can see very clearly that Brandon deserves to win but I'm not really all that invested in him.

No one this season makes me call my DH into the room and say 'you have got to see this!"

There aren't any 'stars' for me.

Brandon's solo was the best. And like I mentioned before, I'm all in for Jeannine because she is the only girl that I really like (though it seems she is less technically skilled than the others) on a personal level.

I think Evan is better than we give him credit for. He just isn't a ripped as the other guys and looks so dorky next to them.

I really don't care too much who goes tonight. Brandon deserves to stay. I really don't care too much about the rest.

ETA - Lil C always annoys me. Too many stupid analogies and made of words. No one understands what you are taking about because you make no sense. I'd like to see him choreograph for the show again. Thankfully, I think Adam is back for the finale. He is the best 'guest' judge.

I stopped being "into" this show after last week. I thought the wrong two went home. I also thought the audience was shamelessly manipulated in the whole breast cancer dance. I don't know, the whole thing just rubbed me the wrong way, how it went down.

That said, I LOVED Brandon's solo, and think it will be a travesty if he doesn't win. I loved his costume!

I think both Evan and Melissa have been "coddled" by getting things that are close to their styles, and don't have the range of other dancers. Evan is cute and has the whole "Joe Average" working for him, but not so much on the technical skills. Melissa just annoys me.

I don't much care for Karla, but she has a beautiful body. Haven't been a Jeanette fan at all--she's been under the radar, mostly. Ditto for Ade--he's strong, technically, but doesn't really stand out.

I hope Brandon takes it.

When I saw that it was Little c doing the judging, I almost switched over and watched Wipeout instead. :lmao: But I'm glad I stuck around just to see Brandon's solo. The rest of the night was a snoozer.

I've thought Evan should go for weeks now and I still think that but I think it may be just like the year Benji won instead of Travis; voters pick who they like rather than who is the best dancer.

Still, I'm hoping for Brandon to be the last person standing.

Yes..what you said :thumbsup2

I'm over the show, too much influence by the judges and producers. At the start of the show I turned to DH and said I bet Evan & Melissa will be paired up, they want them off the show. Sure enough, it happened. Just like Melissa just happen to pull ballet that time and Jeanette got lots of ballroom, far to many coincidences. I bet those hats have the same name/style over and over. LOL

I don't care for Brandon, his dancing seems empty to me, fake & phony and please put some clothes on already.

I don't really care who wins at this point because I've lost interest, should've watched Wipeout this summer instead.

A couple thoughts about last night:

Even Mary pointed out that Kayla got harder parts in the girl dance, and she wasn't sure why. It seems like Mary didn't think that was fair to the other girls.

I've been pretty neutral about Melissa, but was completely put off by her when she said she didn't trust Evan yet and hoped he didn't drop her. What an arrogant comment! They always show couples messing up, falling, etc. when they are practicing and I've never heard anyone make such an insulting comment about their partner before.

Jeanine seems to be the only girl that doesn't take herself too seriously. She's been my favorite for some time now.

Brandon's solo was amazing.

I don't really care which guy goes home, but for the girls, I hope Melissa goes home. I kind of have a feeling that if she does, she will blame it on Evan.

I totally agree. What are those two still doing on the show?

When I look at the dancers, I think about their future chances to be hired as dancers. I think Jason is the guy most likely to be hired because he has a nice lean body and can be "ethnic" or not. My problem with Brandon is is his head and neck - little head on huge but short neck. If someone is looking for a guy to be in a group of 3-6 dancers, I don't think they'd hire Brandon because his body type wouldn't fit in. (And face it - there aren't all that many "dance soloist" jobs out there.)

One thing I thought about last night during Brandon and Kayla's duet about the mistress is how far we've really come race-wise. The old African-American vaudeville performers had it written into their contracts that they would never be alone on stage with a white woman, because they didn't want to face any accusations or outrage the audience. The movie Guess Who's Coming to Dinner was cutting edge in 1967. It was a 1967 supreme court decision that made anti-miscegenation laws illegal. More recently than that, a sensual dance between a very dark man and a very pale woman would have been a very risky move for a TV show. The US may still have racial issues, but you do have to be proud of how far we've come.

The show was rather boring. I'm glad I DVR'd it and missed it last night.

Evan's my favorite, he's the only one with any spunk. He certainly isn't the "best" but he's who I'm rooting for.

Wow, checked in to see what others thought about the show last night only to find out I'm definitely in the minority. First of all, the dancer I thought was head and shoulders above the rest went home last week -- Jeannette. (Kind of ironic because I was aggravated when she made the top 20).

I also believe Jason shouldn't have left because I think he was the strongest guy this season. Sure, maybe Evan has been carefully handled in the sense of which dances he gets, but after the openly rude & nasty comments he's received, I say give the guy a break. I do believe he's got a future waiting for him on Broadway and that will be his reward, not winning.

I thought the standing ovation and comment last night was completely inappropriate after Brandon's solo. If the judges wanted to stand, so be it. Just don't put it on camera & then comment on its superiority when no other solos have been given critiques immediately after performance. During tonight's recap the judges could have definitely remarked how vastly superior they found his solo -- and Cat could have let us in on what the cameras didn't show us last night, the standing O.

I thought last night was a complete set-up for the finale final two -- Brandon#1, Kayla#2. I'm very disappointed in both. Kayla dances with the emotional depth of a teaspoon & Brandon isn't much better at relating emotionally to the music or the audience -- rippling muscles notwithstanding.

In my heart of hearts at this point I'd like to see Jeanine take the title, but once again she drew fairly short straws as far as which routines she got. At least the hip hop from Tabitha & Napoleon was finally a different energy than they've been giving with their choreography this entire season -- but who in the heck decided to dress them matchy matchy when they're roommates being evicted? :confused3
