Going on a bike ride can be an easy leisurely fun activity or a high energy workout. By me, this time of year is ideal for bike rides. We have lots of bike trails people use and/or ride around the subdivision. How about you? Share with us today……

Do you enjoy going on a bike ride?
If yes…..is it for leisure or for a workout?
If it’s for a workout…..have you ridden in an organized race?
(multiple choice)

*This poll is not for stationary workout bikes

For Me…….I do not go on any bike rides, but I wish I could. We have no where convenient to keep a bike. I used to have one in the shed, but it was a pain in the butt to get to and therefore I never used it. Our garage is my DH’s organized chaos, so I choose not to disrupt that. Whenever something needs to be fixed he always has what’s needed and he always knows where it’s at, which is good, because to me it looks like a disaster - LOL!

I ride a lot at home but I ride all the time when I'm camping. I get about 15 to 20 miles a day in when I'm home and average about 50 to 75 a day when I'm camping. I absolutely love bike riding for leisure and a good form of exercise. I have some issues in my legs that make walking and/or running cumbersome and difficult. Using the bike lets me get around and give me a low impact form of exercise.

I last rode a bike about 35 years ago. We live on a bit of a hill....I coasted going downhill and felt like was flying. My kids would go down the same hill and pedal like on fire. I can't believe they would go so fast.

I live in Cape May, a NJ resort town. Bike riding around town and in the area is very popular! When my balance got worse, I gave up my two wheeler, and eventually bought my adult tricycle.

Here’s DH after he put it together for me! It was in 2021. We ride often, just around town. This was 2021. A friend from the Disboards, @Simba’s Mom, encouraged me to get one!

No bike riding here for either Marie or me. It's been many years. We do both have bikes, in the under-porch storage. They've been there for many years.

I haven't ridden a bike in years. Probably in my 20s.
It's usually too hot here and my balance isn't good and there is a lot of cars on all the streets.....because very few ride bikes (more people walk early in the morning)

Over a year ago I won a good-quality beach cruiser at a school auction. It even has a woven basket attached to the handlebars :lovestruc It sat in the garage collecting dust. We recently moved to a quieter neighborhood, and the family can safely ride our bikes again. It's great! DD and I went on a short ride yesterday. DH & DS go on much longer rides. Family has mountain bikes and the smoke me going up hills, LOL!

We have a 14 mile long bike path that goes through our town with an access point near the entrance of our development, so I use it often, sometimes 3-4 times a week with my handcycle. I always go with one or two of our neighbors. Several years ago I did the first leg of Pelontonia in Columbus which is a large cycling event that raises money for cancer research. I did 25 miles on my handcycle that year, and my arms and shoulders felt like jello. The regular route every year is 100 miles on Saturday, and 90 on Sunday, but I was happy to complete the first leg and was able to keep up.

We used to go on lots of bikes rides. We still have our bike helmets. But I had to stop riding due to balance issues. So we gave away the bikes.

I go out for bike rides almost every weekend for both a workout and leisure.

On a normal weekend, it's a 15 - 30 mile lunch ride on Sunday. We usually stick to trails but use our road bikes. There are a few opportunities to do a bit of speed work.

All of this is to stay fit for our adventurous vacations.

Over the holiday weekend, we went out to Western Maryland with our mountain bikes and rode a bit of the C&O canal gravel trails.

For summer vacation about a month ago, we took a European bike and boat tour, a cruise of the Danube River. Ride bikes along the river in the day, spend the evenings on the boat. We visited Germany, Austria, Slovakia and Hungary. Basically got to see Fantasyland castles and villages in real life. Rode about 30 miles each day. It was wonderful.

Time to save up for a Rhine River bike and boat cruise in two years.

My DD asked for a bike about 5 years ago when she was in college..so we had to keep it in our garage. I ended up riding it leisurely every now and again. Hadnt rode a bike in years prior to that. And when we moved to FL 26 months ago, I was riding it up to get the mail (our mail here is in 1 big cluster thing by our clubhouse) and around the community. But about a year ago the tire went flat. I need to get it fixed.

We don’t currently own bikes and haven’t for some years. It is fun though, to rent them for excursions on vacation, occasionally. We’ve done e-bikes several times and would love to have them but they are pricy so that’s unlikely to ever happen.

I haven't been on a bike in about 40 years. I never really enjoyed it, it was just a means to get around in the summers in Wildwood mostly. I didn't have a bike in the city, was more a roller skates kid. Haven't been on them in a long time either.

Haven't ridden a bike in many years. We used to be avid mountain bikers when living in PA.

I was a teenager the last time I rode a bike. I know they say you never forget how to ride a bike, but I'm not so sure I still could. My balance is a bit wonky, I don't think I want to risk it.
