Aft staterooms on the Fantasy, avoid?

I was wondering about the aft staterooms on the Fantasy. Do all or most of them have issues with noise and/or vibration? Are some decks better than others with these issues related to the mechanics of the ship? Experiences, advice?

It's been a while since we sailed the Fantasy, but our room was in the aft (deck 10) and the bed felt like one of those massage beds you find in some cheap motels due to the vibration.

I loved those massage beds! The device was called “Magic Fingers” and you deposited 25¢ in the coin box by the side of the bed.

The vibration will be impacted by two major factors: Whether the engines are running at or near full power, and prevailing sea conditions. We were on the 9-night Greek Isles Cruise in June and for the first two nights, the vibrations were something - but we still had a great night of sleep. Then we had a few consecutive days and nights when it wasn't an issue at all. Then we had a rougher day when wind and sailing conditions were a bit more rough than expected... and all was quiet on the last night

We just stayed aft on the Fantasy 12 day med deck 10146. We were not affected at all by the vibrations. There were a few times where there were vibrations but it wasn’t disrupted and more when docking or leaving port. The other time was when we had to go full speed to get closer to land for a medical helicopter evacuation off the coast of Greece. We had no rough seas either which I’m sure makes a difference. We sailed GTY so the cabin was assigned be we wouldn’t hesitate to book there either. It was quiet with cabanas above us and we liked being under the bump out as we always has a nice shady balcony to enjoy.

It's been a while since we sailed the Fantasy, but our room was in the aft (deck 10) and the bed felt like one of those massage beds you find in some cheap motels due to the vibration.

We stayed 9 Aft once and that is exactly how I described it to DH who was still asleep when we were docking one morning. The kids and myself were cracking up watching him in what looked like a cheap motel bed.

If I remember right, other than that 1 morning while docking it didn't really have much of an effect on us. This was 9 years ago though, so take that with a grain of salt.

I won't. I absolutely believe you. There are a many a guest who board this ship and have no idea of this problem.

We purposely book the aft rooms for their oversized verandahs and love it!! There may be some vibration when backing in while docking though truthfully I believe our last 7 night eastern cruise there was none. Our favourite is 7194. But always best to book where you will be the happiest.

These are our favorite rooms. Love the oversized balcony and relaxing looking at the ocean and where we sailed. It is so peaceful. We have never been bothered by the movement of the ship, maybe we are lucky. Pearl members here and have sailed in these cabins on the Fantasy and Dream at least 10 times. Some people say there is extra movement, I don't doubt them. If you are prone to being bothered by the extra movement then choose elsewhere - I am sure you will be happy anywhere The large balcony is such a plus though - nice to get a lounger and just relax out there all evening.

I sailed the Transatlantic in May and booked a GTY stateroom. I was assigned to cabin 10098. While the room itself was a spacious Deluxe Family Verandah Stateroom with a split bath—which I really appreciated—it was noisy AF! I’m pretty sure it was located right beneath the pool deck, which explains the constant noise. Would I choose this stateroom on my own? Definitely not. But if I were assigned it again through a GTY booking, I’d accept it. You win some, you lose some!

We loved 10160! I'm a very light sleeper and we like to sleep in, and were never bothered by it. The few times there was some vibration, it was after we were already awake, didn't last very long and not an issue. The extended verandah was wonderful!

So related but slightly off topic, we stayed Deck 9 mid on the Fantasy when we were in Europe. DS and I don't notice anything different than usual, but DH said he felt a lot of movement (he's only ever stayed on Deck 2).

Seriously, everyone is different!

We stayed in a cabin on deck 8 right behind the aft stair well in a deluxe ocean view with the round shower and pull down murphy bed. did not notice much vibration or anything out of the normal unless we were docking. However we did the 7 night eastern two years ago on it and i noticed that going from St Thomas to Castaway we were going high speed and that the front of the ship was moving a good bit. my son was in vibe and going up there was fun he said as the kids went from Cabannas to the front at night and told me the aft wasnt moving much but the front was moving more as you went from mid-ship to the front.

This is the exact room we stayed in this past February and we didn't have any complaints. The balcony was delightful and the slight bit of engine rumble was not an issue for us. Everyone has their preferences though!

We did a 3 night dream sailing and the first morning docking into castaway we felt the vibrations and found it hilarious/amusing...

I think we were technically midship deck 10, but towards the back of midship...

People think the Dream might not be as bad as the Fantasy, but my suspicion is it was just not felt as much since the Dream did 3 and 4 night itineraries for years...

I doubt we would have been as amused if we were true aft... A real shame, as those 4E rooms look like an amazing setup!
