SHHH it is a surpise, if we can pull it off!

I am currently the only one in my family who knows about our November trip. My DW father passed away 3 months back while I just started to plan, so I am keeping it a surprise for her until about a month before.

We will tell the kids the night before as last time. But I need a new way to tell them that will top lat time. One way to tell DW and one to tell the kids.

That sounds like a huge undertaking! I am happy I can bounce it off my husband, I would burst if I couldn't!!
Good luck! Any ideas yet?

Well DIS members suggested telling DW about it a few weeks before departure , rather than night before.
They suggested waiting until shes having a bad week and surprise her with some Disney jewelry or something.

We have been so buy I have not thought on it much yet..... Time to get started.

Its going to be hard to figure out something better for the kids this time....

Does she like surprises?
Me personally, I love the planning of it, I would not like finding out as a surprise. That is only me! I would like to find out about a surprise trip anywhere else in the world, that is fine! Lol

How did you surprise the kids last time?

Yea she loves surprises and hates planning. I am the planning man for all our trips, especially WDW.

Last time.

We play the Magic Kingdom board game as a family. In the game there are cards telling you what to do. We made our own card for the game that when they picked it up it read....

SEARCH YOUR HOUSE FOR THE PIRATE'S CHEST!!!!!
Naturally , they went crazy and found it. On the outside of the chest was the word.
WHERE????
Inside where their Pin lanyards , Park maps, and my daughter Tiara. Also another card saying look for the next clue on the stairs.....

On the stairs was an envelope with the word...
WHO??? Inside were pics of them at WDW . With a message saying ..... Look in the garage for the last clue....

Which was our car packed with their suitcases and decorated with Disney stickers and the word WHEN????
written on the back window. When they opened the back hatch there was a sign saying.

RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!

We left 4 hours later in the night!!!!!

They were flipping out!
I was gonna post the video but it came out way too dark......

What a well thought out plan! Love the idea. That is hard to top!

We have made it this far without spilling the beans! It seems to get harder everyday! My oldest was begging last night for me to let him come with me to "Vegas"!
If he only knew!

Ok if you have been following me I need help!!

We have struggled with how to include Grandma and Grandpa so they see the reaction without giving it away.
Here is a new idea, need input:
My husband gets dropped off at the airport by a close friend as I leave to pick up my son from school. I bring my son back here and my parents pick me up for the airport at home. The kids will think my husband is at work and will pick them up from grandmas after work (like any other work day). When I get there I text my husband where he is out of site. As I am saying goodby at security, he comes up and says "How about we go to Disney instead?"

This kind of helps with the weird "why are Grandma and Grandpa here?"

Thoughts?? This also helps my DH be a "hero" in the surprise.

I really like this idea! DH and I both went in to wake up DS to tell him. It is great that both of you will be there and Grampa and Grandma!

Thanks everyone! New ways to pull this smoothly keep coming into my mind. My DH said yes to the idea but tried to act annoyed, secretly I think he was happy to have more of a role in the whole Disney caper!!
The smoothest choice is to have my friend pick him up after I leave to get the boys from school. This decreases the chance of the boys seeing him.
His car will be here, we can come up with a reason for that.....

I saw my talented Sister in law yesterday and gave her the fabric for my youngest costume, woody!! She is making that (4th time for my kids!)
My oldest wants to be a Jedi. Easy enough to find but I worry it may be too warm for Florida.
