I have a dining dilemma! One of my most anticipated ADRs is Cali Grill..and it is going to be closed when we return. I am SO sad! In it's place I was thinking of Citrico's or Narcoosee's. Which would you choose with a toddler?

Great to hear ..dh tomorrow..work all done....kkc very very soon... We have to go over that dining plan so the gallbladder behaves my friend  enjoy the quiet mommy time tonite..

I am definitely a little concerned, Jeanette....eating out every day has got to be tough on my system! My ddp plans so far are as follows:

Arrival day Sept 28: Cali Grill dinner

Sat Sept 29: Breakfast Club lounge
L: AK yak and Yeti?
D: OHANA

Sun Sept 30:
B: lounge
L: Captain cooks
D: QS at MK before MNSSHP, thinking Columbia Harbour House

Mon Oct 1: Discovery Cove B and L
D: WPE

tue Oct 2: Epcot
B: Lounge
L: Sunshine Season
D: Teppan Edo

Wed Oct 3:
B: Lounge
L: Sci FI
D: Captains Grill

Thur Oct 4 move to Universal.....Breakfast at KONA, I have to try the macadamia nut pancakes!!!! :lovestruc
L: Mythos
Blue Man Group at 8pm
D: NASCAR Grille @10 pm.....late, bit I don't want to eat too close to Lunch!

Fri Oct 5
B: lounge HRH CLUB
L: don't think I'll be up for a big lunch then a dinner.....today is UNIversal studios
D: Planning Bubba Gumps

sat Oct 6 IOA today
B: Lounge
L:??? 3 broomsticks
D: 8pm Ressie for Margaritaville

And that's it in a nutshell.....I'll definitely have to try and fit some lighter foods in there, I'm thinking try to go light at lunch, and be more open at dinner?

I hope I don't come home 5 to 10 LBS heavier!!!!! Oh please NOOOOOO!

All the adults on my trip gained 10 pounds (including the 14 year old). You'd think with the amount of walking and sweating we did we'd have LOST weight, but nope! We have all shed the pounds though. I think a lot was water weight from the salt in the food. I do not cook with any salt, and do not add it to any food I eat either so when I eat food out I retain a ton of water!

Us too.:worried: we are also a no salt family and really noticed it.:faint: But boy that salty food was good with a root beer to wash it down! We are also a ginger ale only when sick and once in a while family! :rotfl:

BTW Marie Teppan Edo was one of our favorites! The scallops are delish!

I have a soda addiction, but I can tell you i never drink ginger ale because it makes me vomit. I can't stand the taste of it!

Sorry we didn't get to meet up too Melissa...:flower3:

Hopefully we have a lifetime full of Disney trips and one of those times we can make it work :goodvibes

Dani I know, it is amazing with all the walking and sweating we dont lose more! I really need to get back on track and lose some of the weight I put on this year. We usually cruise in November so I have motivation to lose the weight but this year we arent going and I just cant find my motivation :(

Marie I think eating light at lunch is a good idea, I am sure you will be able to find light options everywhere you go as well. Is there any type of medication you can bring with you if the gallblader acts up again?

MIL has left for her cruise, finally I can feel comfortable in my home, well at least for the next week before she comes back from her cruise and to us for another 2 days.

And it looks like the bday party will not interfere with my Oct trip, YAY! I better knock on some wood ;) Now that we have moved to WL and DH seems to be super picky with menus lately I need to revise my ADR's and try to plan my days a bit differently.

Melissa

Melissa - Glad MIL is on her way so you can have your house to yourself! :lmao:

Dani - this is probably a great illustration of how little we eat from the DDP and how much is wasted....I actually LOST 12 lbs in Disney!!! :lmao:
This is why we can't get DDP for the next trip....we just wouldn't use it advantageously. But hey, I tell DH if he wants a skinny minny wife like I used to be, we need to just spend more time in Disney!!!

Marie your trip is soooooo close I can taste it, and it's not even my trip!!!! :sad2:

Hi to everyone else!!!! Jenny (welcome back home), JC, Jeanette, GG, all of you!!!!

Happy Saturday! Hair appointment today, wooohoooo!!!! It's much needed!!!

So true! You'd think with all the walking you'd lose something!, or at least balance out! Jeesh, maybe I can keep it under 5 lbs, let's hope! :crazy2:

CRISIS: I haven't seen DS16 (Andrew) yet, but e texted me today to let me know he sprained his ankle! :faint: he says it's swollen but "ok" :confused3
I just hope he's ok for all that walking he had to do next week! I just had a feeling something like this might happen! Ay,ay aye!

Candace: I know! It came soo fast! I'm trying to slow down and savor it now, I know how quickly it's over and don't look forward to that day! :(

Sounds like a wheelchair might be needed in the park! You can rent them for a number of days at a slight discount, turn it in when you leave a park and show the tkt/receipt to pick up another one at the next park. :thumbsup2 Everything will be fine!!

I am still worried about that gallbladder of yours, Marie. Mine almost burst and I was in the hospital for several days on multiple IV antibiotics before they could do the surgery...no band-aid type, nope, the huge scar...so do be careful and get yourself to the ER next time, please?

No more medical emergencies before Disney!!! :goodvibes

I was trying to think of a title for my post and I heard myself sigh, so there it is. :sad2:I am thinking of reworking my trip, and it is stressful. My mom and I are booked for a trip in Dec. at WL with deluxe dining during the FD promo. We really splurged on this trip; it's meant to be some quality time together and is particularly important to me b/c my mom has been very ill this past year--she is well enough to travel as of now. But now my husband is losing his job because his company is closing and I am thinking about reconfiguring the trip to save money. I'm still planning to go--this trip is for important reasons and we already bought our plane tickets.

I'm thinking about going with the Swan and ditching the dining plan altogether. We may also change many of our dining plans to save some money too. I just don't know. Of course, choosing a moderate or value that still has FD available could also be aN option. This time, I really wanted interior corridors, though, because it's likely one or the other of us may need to rest and it would be nice for the other to have a lobby or relaxing area right nearby the room or to grab to-go food if the weather is inclement and and my mom needs to stay in the room for a few hours or half day. This was a big part of my choosing WL. Also, the dining is very important to us--it's the highlight of the trip particularly because I am gluten free. We are looking forward to trying some signature restaurants; we've never done them on previous trips.

I know I can make some changes to make this trip more affordable, which is great. But it is stressful, as I know my fellow DISers understand. I already painstakingly planned ever ADR based on our WL location, the deluxe dining plan, etc. And I am/was super excited to stay at WL. DH says to leave things as they are planned since we already budgeted for the trip, but that by budget was before knowing we would soon be a one-income family. Ugh. I am just worried that with the economy the way it is, finding a new job could take my husband longer than we would plan for and it seems wreckless to spend on an extravagant vacation even though we've saved for emergencies. So I have about three weeks or less before final payment is due to play mental chess and figure out all the options and price points for amending our vacation, possibly canceling, or taking a leap and leaving it as is. :scared: I am exhausted just thinking about re-planning this trip.

Welcome to our little thread! I wish it was under better circumstances - so sorry to hear about your DH losing his job. :worried:

It sounds like this is a very important trip to you, and you guys are prepared for an emergency situation. I'm not sure that I'm going to be much help because there are so many things to consider, but here goes:

1) my first thought would be to cancel...I am very frugal like that....BUT, since you said you've already paid for the flights, you probably don't want to be out that money (unless you can just save them for later...) :confused3

That being said, you could go and keep things as they are, knowing that you've already budgeted for this, and DH could have gotten laid off after the trip and it would already be over...

But since you know about the layoff, you could just make the trip cheaper and still go, but it sounds like you could really use a magical vacation...would your DH still be able to enjoy the splurge trip given his situation? (I know my DH wouldn't)

Another thought...when your DH finds another job, he likely won't want to take vacation time any time soon, so do it now, when work obligations won't be in the way, right???

So many things to consider. I wish you luck.

Thanks for the suggestions, Mousemommy1. It's actually my mom and I going on the trip, each of us paying our own expenses. The reason I want to keep the trip is because she has been so sick and these girls' trips are such special memories for us. It's one of those times when I think I need to let the dust settle and hope I can make a clearer decision soon. If it were a 'regular' vacation, I would just cancel. But with my mom's illness out of remission, I just feel like it's important to do these things if/when we can. If I cancel the trip, I will still take the week off work and spend it with her at her house, but it's just not the same as Disney magic.

Wheelchair, walker mobility...right to the Poly, very reasonable, and very good to deal with... No more injuries :faint:

Agreed Christine....Mine acted up the day before I had an appt. with the surgeon for an eval...thanks to a rack of ribs....but I should've known better

I would go, because you & your mom need the trip...however I would budget...maybe POFQ or a POR Royal Room???? Also CSR gets good reviews on their bus transportation....plus with the Swan, you'd still need to factor in Magical Express...How about trying the room only discount, and paying out of pocket for meals....??

Sorry your DH lost his job, but very glad Mom is in remission!!

:welcome: to the RC thread!!!!

Aw thanks Jeanette...maybe one day we can meet up too!:flower3:
We must!!! :lovestruc

Honestly...Ohana's I worry about...the fat in the meat..even the chicken/turkey...might be an issue...NOTHING GREASY OR FATTY!! Trust me your gallbladder will get mad...:worried: Can you get a Percocet prescription for 2-3 pills just in case.....I want you too be Ok Marie...sticking to a low fat diet will prevent an attack (usually)
Hopefully we have a lifetime full of Disney trips and one of those times we can make it work :goodvibes

Hi to everyone else!!!! Jenny (welcome back home), JC, Jeanette, GG, all of you!!!!

Happy Saturday! Hair appointment today, wooohoooo!!!! It's much needed!!!
:wave2:

Marie Boys will be boys! I hope the ankle isn’t too bad and he recovers quickly :worried:

Candace I hope you feel like a whole new woman with your haircut appt today :goodvibes Tomorrow is Sunday night football….GO PATS (sorry just had to throw that in there) :thumbsup2

Jsantini My motto is life is short and you never know what tomorrow will bring. My mom has survived cancer 3 times but we never know when the time she just can’t fight will be. I also have friends who have lost parents (and children) suddenly :( I know you want to be financially responsible on this but I would say to go. It seems like you need the time with your mom and to create the memories that only Disney can. I would definitely price out the Dolphin and Swan, and then maybe pick some of the restaurants you were looking forward to the most and still do those and then replace others with some counter service to save money. If your DH gets a new job before you go, you can always switch back to WL. The other thing is you don’t necessarily need to cancel all your ADR’s now, you could wait until closer in to your trip to see where you are at. I would book your alternate ADR’s using your mom’s name so you are technically double booked but not in the Disney system (which won’t allow it). Big hugs to you with all that you have been and are going through! Try to take a deep breath and know whatever you decide will be the right decision :grouphug:

Of course Jeanette posted as I was typing :p Just wanted to say hi :wave2: and felt that you deserved your own post and not just me editing my previous post
