September 18th Wonder 3 Night Cruise

I believe you can determine your own meeting place. I don't believe there is a "regular" place.
Let me know everyone if I'm wrong.

For my DD's birthdays I let them decide to do whatever they want to do that day. On Friday, they want to go to the Princess Greeting in the morning and have lunch at Triton's, but that is all they know they want to do right now. They also love ordering room service, so I am sure they will be doing that. Of course, a cake is brought at dinner. OH! And one other thing, they get a card with $10 on it for the arcade.

This will be their 4th birthday on the cruise, can to be honest, these 3 days are going to be so packed full of stuff to do they probably will hardly think about their birthdays!

I do always bring a small gift for their birthday and I give them each $50 to send at the ship's store. But that is about it.

One thing they are looking forward to doing this time is ordering "Shirley Temples" at dinner. Someone on this board said that their daughter ordered them every night, and since they are non-alcoholic drinks there was no charge for them at dinner (I do hope this is true, we will see).

DJ

Thanks for the ideas, WestJones!

I remember drinking Shirley Temples when I was a little girl! I think it was something like gingerale or 7-up with cherry juice with a cherry in it.

I think we will play it by ear and see what the little miss would like to do. I'm afraid we'll get her onboard and she will never want to come out of the kid's club!

There are so many birthday cruisers on this thread, we should have a DIS birthday party! See you all onboard!

Okay...being I am the only one on the entire cruise who hasn't received docs, and therefore cannot get properly excited, I just wanted you all to know I am calling expedia TOMORROW!!!!On a happier note, we just returned from labor day weekend at bwv, and we had an incredibly awesome time! Now I just have to take a break from eating for a couple of weeks til the cruise!

ez,
Did you ever get your Docs?

Everyone,
Can you believe that just 2 weeks from today we will be boarding the Wonder?!?!?!?!:Pinkbounc

It is getting so close it is starting to seem real! I even started packing! What can I say, I am anxious!!!!

DJ

I can't believe it! Our first cruise is almost here! I was just scrolling through our thread, and we have a lot of DISer's going:

Cuinwdw
Disfanshan
EZ
JuJuJasmine

Westjones

I think you can all officially get excited with only 2 weeks left! :Pinkbounc

Hopefully we'll see you all there sometime!

I do this every time a vacation gets near. I am so excited that we will be leaving soon, but at the same time I get so bummed that it will go so quickly and be over soon too!! I especially feel this way with this trip because it's only 3 days long!

I just got off the phone with expedia and she said she would "find" them and send them out today, to arrive tomorrow. So why am I not reassured? I hope they do come tomorrow, I will believe it when I see it! This is the same feeling I got when I was pregnant and overdue. The longer you wait, the more it seems like it ain't gonna happen!

DISFANSHAN:
Are you only going on the cruise for your vacation? We have 4 days at WDW before we get to the cruise. You are right, though, 3 days will go by very quickly. Is this your first cruise?

EZ:
I hope you get your documents soon! It really feels real once you see your tickets in your hand!

EVERYONE:
How many of you on this list are going on the DCL for the first time? This will be our 4th. It was wonderful the first time and it has been even better each time we have sailed.

There is so much to do, and 3 days doesn't give much time to do it, but you will get the 'best' of everything! That is one good part of the 3 day cruise. We wanted to visit WDW too, so that is why we are doing the shorter cruise this year.

It is getting exciting! Only 10 days until we leave for WDW! Just 2 weeks from now we will be on our way to port!
DJ

It is 3:50 pm. Two weeks from now we will be getting ready to set sail! Can you believe it's so close??!!
It has rained here in NJ basically nonstop since Monday, so I can't wait to see some Florida sunshine, and relax on the beaches of the Bahamas!!!!!!!

Yes, this is our first cruise (Disney or otherwise!) We are doing WDW in December, we love it there that time of year. It's not so hot, the lines arent' long, and you have Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It's good to hear about people who have done DCL time after time, because then you know it must be good!!!

Here is what we will do in 2 weeks when we get on the ship......

The girls will have swimsuits on under their dresses. As soon as we board we head up to the Mickey Pool. DH and I grab a table in the shade. The girls pull off their dresses (which match mine, for the boarding picture) and head to the pool. DH then goes and gets food and brings some back to the table. Then after an hour I will head to our room and drop off our carry ons.

After I get back, DH will go to the Lab to register the kids. As the pool gets more crowded, the girls will ask to go to our room, and they will get to see that for the first time we have a room with a window (always had Cat. 11 rooms in the past--this is a surprise for their 10th birthday).

So that will take us up to about time for the mandatory drill (my least favorite part of the cruise).

DJ

(Look for the 'light blue' family. The girls and I will have light blue dresses with princess patches sewn on them, and DH has a light blue shirt to try to match us -- although the blue is a little off ).

Westjones, I can see you're pretty experienced at this! Thanks for the tips, I will try to do the same. What time do you think you will be getting to the ship? My flight lands at 10:15am, so I hope I should be able to get on the ship early enough to get a table at the Mickey pool. Where do you get lunch from to bring back to the pool?

I actually got a ups tracking #!!!yipppeee!!!! This is our first cruise. We only live 1 hour from the cape, what time do you suggest we arrive ? Theres a good chance my 9 year old dd will want to go to the mickey pool first, so maybe we will see you all there.

We get food from the burger place or pizza place by the pools, or we go into the buffet and just bring out our tray (depending on what we want).

We like to arrive before boarding begins because we just LOVE hearing them announce our name as we board. On our first cruise we got to the ship late and missed that. The last two cruises we got to enjoy our entry being announced as we boarded :p .

EZ, our girls will be in the same group in the Lab! My twin DDs will be 9 when we board, they turn 10 the second day but I am putting them in the 8/9 year old group. They get along better with younger kids than they would with 11 & 12 year olds. Beside, in the 3 previous cruises they have NEVER been to the activities on CC for the kids. Well this is the last time they can go and do the "8 & 9 year old" activities (next year they will be in the 10-12 year old group for sure).

My twins do not look alike. One had blonde and one has light brown hair. They have different personalities too (one of them will be at the game station in the lab the whole time, while the other will be making crafts with some of the other girls she meets--my DDs will very seldom be found together--strange, but that is what happens, at least in the past).

My girls will probably be in the lab for a little while after dinner the first night (we have late seating). Then in the afternoon on Friday (their birthday). Also, they are planning on doing the kids activities at CC for part of the day. Those 3 day will go fast!

DJ

BTW, since some of you are on your first cruise, I wanted to tell you that as you board they take a 'family picture' with a sign of Mickey holding up the date of your cruise. I am telling you this because we didn't know this the first time we sailed and we all looked AWFUL!

Since then, my girls and I have dressed alike and DH tried to blend in for our family picture (which you do have to buy if you want, but we have always bought this one except for our first cruise).

I figure that soon my DDs will refuse to 'dress like mom' as they hit the teenage years, but this year they are still willing to indulge me on this! :p

Anyway, just wanted to warn everyone so you are ready for your 'picture' as you board.

DJ

And i thought I was the only goober that dressed the family alike!
so glad i'll be in such fine company!
no really - it's a self-proclaimed badge of honor...
i knew about the arrival photo and planned for that - and when we're in the parks, we all look alike, too - mostly so if one of us gets "misplaced" we can say - "he looks just like this, only smaller!". while my boys are not twins (15 months apart), they LOVE to dress alike - "can we be twins today, mommy?" even down to the socks.
So glad i'll be sharing MY birthday (9/19) with the twins! turning 10, turning 39 - what's the difference when you're a disney princess? LOL!
i'll look for you guys by the mickey pool - that's our plan, too. look for the two exceptionally cute skinny little boys with the MATCHING! red trunks.

Ez, Westjones,
Sounds like my dd's will be in good company: almost 8 and 9 1/2,
Your boarding plan is identical to ours.
We are first time cruisers and can't wait, plus our first trip to wdw to follow the cruise.
Sorry we are not dress aliker's; I actually discourage my dh from this practice, he would love to dress alike.
we are less than 2 weeks away: we board our plan on Wed am, so I consider that the start of our vacation.
Absolutely CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!

P.S. for you florida people do you think the weather will affect us at all????

SEE YOU AT THE POOL!!!!!!!!!!!

I've started packing too; mainly things I bought specifically for this trip and dd's goody bag for the plane.
:p :p :p :p
