A single leaked image circulating online is sparking speculation that Shanghai Disneyland could be planning a major expansion, possibly even a second gate inspired by EPCOT.

The image itself appears to be blurry concept art, making it difficult to draw firm conclusions. Still, a few standout elements are clear enough to get fans talking. Most notably, there seems to be a large geodesic sphere positioned at the center of the park, strongly resembling Spaceship Earth. If accurate, this would suggest a park similarly anchored by themes of innovation, exploration, and global connection.
Other possible features are less certain. There are faint indications of what could be a lagoon area, potentially similar in layout to EPCOT’s World Showcase, though the poor image quality makes it hard to confirm. Off to the right side of the image, a large white structure is visible, but its purpose or inspiration is unclear at this stage.
While intriguing, it’s important to note that the origins of the image remain unknown, and nothing has been confirmed by The Walt Disney Company. Disney has explored similar ideas in the past, most notably with the planned but ultimately canceled WestCOT at Disneyland Resort, which was shelved in favor of what became Disney California Adventure Park due to budget and strategic considerations.
The image was shared by Twitter user @zobyeg, but without a verified source, it remains firmly in the realm of rumor. Still, even the possibility of an EPCOT-style park in Shanghai is enough to generate excitement, and plenty of speculation, about what the future of Disney’s global parks portfolio could look like.
