That picture was mine. Debbie posted it for me, though since I've never figured out how to post pictures.:rolleyes1

I thought it might have been but didn't want to say in case I was mistaken. It was a fab picture and reminds me of our cruise experience

HI!
I see you are from Allentown. We're from the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area. Where do you think you'll fly from?

This will be my first time in Europe and I love the history that they have there. The US is a beautiful country, but compared to Spain, it's a toddler! I'm just excited to see everything.

Was the sailing fairly smooth overall?

This will be our first cruise to Europe, so please forgive me if my questions are silly.

1. What to wear on the port days? I don't want to dress in a way that screams "tourist". What is suggested?
Good walking shoes if you plan on doing any touring. If you are going to visit cathedrals, churches etc. then shoulders, backs and knees must be covered on everyone, even kids. So no shorts, tank tops, "keyhole" tops, etc. Reality is pretty much everyone will now we are tourists though. We try and do a bit of research ahead on local customs so we can be respectful.
2. When does DCL list the excursions on the site? I would love to do some research on what would interest us.
I don't remember when these came out :confused3 . Read some of the old trip reports from 2007 for ideas though. Also try looking at other cruiselines excursions or cruise critic for ideas. That is what we did last time since we were on the EB crossing there were no trip reports for us!
3. How formal is formal night? I've seen pictures of ball gowns and tuxes. Is that the norm? We haven't been on a cruise with a formal night in 6 years.
There can be anything from full formal to nice cocktail attire to nice dinner wear. With the luggage restrictions now in place, packing will have to be more efficient for us. Our party of four had 8 big checked bags, 8 carry ons and a stroller last time - not gonna happen this time (she says now:rolleyes1 )
4. Taxi to port or DCL transport? I'm interested in staying at the AB Skipper hotel in Barcelona that night before so is a taxi doable or is it just a hassle?

5. Is it better to book your hotel with DCL or direct?
We booked ourselves, but I like to do my own thing. It depends what you are comfortable with.
6. On the main page of the website, it list Portagul as stop, but on my reservation page, it's not there. What gives?

That is all for now, but I'm sure that I will have more.

Annette :)

Mine said the same thing yesterday too. I haven't checked today. Someone said that is just a DCL computer glitch and Portugal is still part of our trip though.

Welcome!

Brooklyn, I love your new sig art! I was thinking about doing something like that myself ala or EB TA logo. Can I "borrow" yours?:)

Was thinking about the Tshirt situation. For those who don't want to purchase another tshirt thats similar isn't there anywhere maybe we could order custom badges from or something like that? Dunno just a thought.

All right I can't find the picture posted on our old thread, but I do have the original picture. If someone can give me really, really simple directions on how to post a pic, I'll post the "wave pool" pic.
ETA: or I can email it to one of you more technical types and let you post it.
Anna

1. What to wear on the port days? I don't want to dress in a way that screams "tourist". What is suggested?

Just wear normal clothes. Keep the camera in your bag and make sure you have a zip closurer bag or something you can wear tightly under your arm. I had no problems in barcelona last time. It should be pretty hot and humid at that time so plan on shorts/capris etc. There are so many tourist no biggie. Also many churches you must have your shoulders covered so be advised to pack a light sweater to throw on if thats a requirement.

2. When does DCL list the excursions on the site? I would love to do some research on what would interest us.

Last time it was 4 months before. But Barcelona is a piece of cake to get around w/o a tour. The on/off busses are reasonably priced and take you around to all of the key places. I heard in gibralter that it was easier to catch a cab and less expensive to go up and see the monkey...hey we're going to see monkeys!
3. How formal is formal night? I've seen pictures of ball gowns and tuxes. Is that the norm? We haven't been on a cruise with a formal night in 6 years.
I've just worn a nice dress and heels. Then thrown on flip flops after dinner!

4. Taxi to port or DCL transport? I'm interested in staying at the AB Skipper hotel in Barcelona that night before so is a taxi doable or is it just a hassle?
Last time I took the train and then a cab. Taxi's are expensive but not sure if more than dcl or not.

5. Is it better to book your hotel with DCL or direct?
I booked myself through the website booking.com lots of options and they have area maps so you can see where the hotels are in proximity to las ramblas or the beach or the port.
6. On the main page of the website, it list Portagul as stop, but on my reservation page, it's not there. What gives?
Didn't notice that.

That is all for now, but I'm sure that I will have more.

Annette :)

Hope that helps. I can't wait to get back to europe....:cool1:

Good morning!

I was wondering how many of you did the TA WB crossing in 2007?

It sounds like this cruise has a lot of repeaters (which I am always glad to hear!)

Not us, but we did do the EB PC repo this year. We seem to be on a two year cycle for Disney cruises at the moment. The one before was a 2006 double dip with Cozumel and Costa Maya as stops - we loved the ruins.

Hello everybody. Booked the WB TA (2 adults and 2 Children) yesterday morning using a dummy res. Room 5018; a short hop, skip and a jump from the kids' clubs. Looking forward to signing up for the roll call. Wish I would have done so for the WB Panama Crossing. Speaking of, does anyone have a large image of the Captain Jack Panama Crossing banner? I would like it for my Panama home video. Looking forward to pirating on the high seas Canadian style! Cheers!

:yay: :woohoo: PJPOOHBEAR booked a CAT 11 for her, DrHug and myself this morning! :dance3: I'm not sure if we are GTY or have an assigned room. Maybe PJ will post. Never been to Europe, so this is exciting and a bit :scared: for us country kids. ;)

I think badges are a cool idea, we didn't get t-shirts on our last trip as we'd probably never wear them again and couldn't justify it as an extra cost. Badges would be really cool as you can put them on whatever you are wearing - even for the PJ breakfast :rotfl:

So how was the westbound TA last time for those of us who have never been on a transatlantic. I know the eastbound was bumpy at times and the time loss sucked, but what about westbound?

the westbound was great.smooth sailing almost all the time. only one day you could feel the ship rock a little but nothing bad. the cruise director the lady forget her name said that this was her 14 th transatlantic sailing and this was the smoothest she had. the number 14 could be wrong but i know it was somewhere around there

For those of us charged too much deposit I received an email from Disney and they are refunding me the $600 extra I was charged so email them if you do want the extra back for now

I'm in the middle of emailing back and forth. When I wrote yesterday, the reply I got was that I "paid $600 for my husband and I" .... which would have been the correct amount, if it were true  I wrote back saying that, in fact, I was charged $1200 and would like the difference back. We'll see!

Thank you for the heads up!

DisneyVegas- Hi captain! Thanks for the Welcome! Sending an email. Can someone explain to me how to email a picture? Thanks!

I really am soo excited! I am feeling a bit guilty about leaving the kids @ home; but they will have just started school and 2 weeks is a lot of school to miss!
Erik- that was such a moving tribute to the EB you were on! I can't wait to read your trip report after we return! LOL and we are also from Rochester!

Can someone explain to me how I get the cool flag into my signature line? Thanks!

Do you live in Rochester now? Where do you live? We're never on the cruises with other Rochester families!!

Brooklyn---I, too, absolutely LOVE that image in your signature that kind of incorporates some of the pirate-y images from DisneyVegas' logo but also includes a Mickey, the cruise logo, and all the flags! It looks fantastic!
