No, although I was very close to an elephant once at a traveling circus. Don’t stand near the back of an elephant! Some kids were sitting near the ring where the elephants were and got a very unpleasant surprise. . .

I suppose at the circus I've been "in a room" with them, though it was a big pavilion.

There is also an elephant enclosure with an inside portion at our zoo. There I would say "There's an elephant in the room."
