Have you all read the Kingdom Keepers books? 4 out now and nice, exciting, WDW based, lightweight reading. I have the newly released 4th book waiting for a suitable time to read, but it is hardback so a little heavy to take. Would rather another pair of shoes!!!:rotfl2: The rest are soft backs now so would be lighter to take.

Jane, I kept a couple of spare posts on the front two pages in case any other info was needed on there so could you PM me with the info you want put on it about the book swap and I'll put it on there later. Just outside work at the mo and if no-one reminds me I'm likely to forget!

Also, since we're starting to think about cut offs for the FE, I need a cut off for secret Mickey too. What does everyone think about mid august? Thinking of leaving it a bit later than the FE because we're only buying one gift instead of 100 odd! What do you all think?

I only ever hear such good things about Deck 1. But, you are in the right place to get a free upgrade you know!!!:thumbsup2 Trouble is you have to hang on in there till about 6 weeks before to find out.

oooh Maz that would be fab. Would it make any difference that I'm not GTY? i may just hang on for a bit :thumbsup2

Wow! I hope they are holding some back, surely it can't be that booked up already?????

I am getting worried now! What date can you book yours?

28th may before we can book anything. I don't mind the times left for palo brunch, just gobsmacked there are no late dinner readies left on a 14 night cruise :confused3

Am I the only one on deck one? I wanna be on deck 6

Susie I forgot you booked with Virgin, how do I go about changing???

Mel x

hi mel, i just rang this virgin number 0844 557 9734 and got the customer services and said could they please ring disney and change our cabin, just needed our ref number and name and address, hope this helps susie

A while back I posted that I changed to late seating because of the time change I thought that my 2 young boys would be more comfortable eating late (since their internal clocks would tell them that it was mid-afternoon). But now I'm thinking that trying to keep them eating in the dining room until 10pm is just ridiculous - they are going to be tired from running around all day, and the safer bet is to do the early dining. We can always get room service if they are hungry late.

One other parent responded when I posted something before and they were also doing late dining. For those of you traveling with kids, are the majority doing early dining? Thanks

I don't think too many are doing late dining. We are doing it so we can (1) ensure we won't be too tired to make it to the show (we always manage to miss the shows after dinner!) and (2) let our daughter participate in the "dine and play" so she can expedite her dining and be done within 45 minutes (not offered during main seating). We will be enforcing naps for sure onboard! My girls will be ages 5 and 1 when sailing.

Gosh Linda there must be a lot of platinum cruisers on the WBTA or they are holding back a lot of the reservations for when we get onboard. I can't believe there are no late dining options available for Palo Dinner :confused3

Will have to wait a couple of weeks and see what's still available, fingers crossed :)

That's what I was thinking as well! Wow! That is CRAZY!

We're doing late dining - with kids aged 6 and 2. See you there!!!

We usually do a late afternoon nap with both kids, but now we'll have to factor show times in there too. Maybe we can get a room service snack while we're getting ready, go to the show, and then to dinner?

The idea that someone will come and collect Calum from the table at dinner is a lifesaver - he doesn't get how we can take so long to eat dinner!!!

we are doing late dining too, my girls are 9 & 8 months(at time if cruise). Beth is used to dining out with us an sits quite happily and hopefully ellie will be sleeping lol hoping to use nursery some nights too.

Thanks hun!

So, having booked through Virgin, how do I find out what cabins are available and what category they are?

AND, do Virgin charge?

I have decided to stay with main dining I know for one the kids won't want to be eating dinner at 10 pm and I don't want to sit by myself as they will be wanting to spend time with their friends etc.

Just a thought, if say my dd 14 makes a friend and wants said friend to eat dinner with us can that be accommodated or is it strictly your tablemates only?

hi mel, i went on the dcl web site and looked which cabins where available to begin with by doing a dummy booking as if i was going to book the cruise, you put in all the details and then add the code, it comes up then where you can choose your stateroom and found our old one 6309, then michelle found us a sideways cabin so i checked it was till available and rang virgin with the number of the new cabin, they rang disney and moved our cabin for us, hope that makes sense, susie

just checked and there are 6521 and 6309 front of boat and 6099 and 6139 back of boat all our 11b cabins, not sure what you already had booked, and no they didnt charge us to change

I don't think you can get any more recommedations for books for the cruise until right before the cruise or we'll go through this all over again when those suggested books get read in the next month or so. :goodvibes

Blast it! You are one hard task master! Is this know as "tough love" for us "reader-oholics"? :rotfl2::rotfl2: I just hope I can spread Stieg Larsson's next 2 books over the next couple of months til the cruise!:lmao::lmao:

Thanks Susie :thumbsup2

I'm a 9 D so they won't be any good to me. I will have a look at the website and familiarise myself with it and keep checking. I wanna be partying with you guys on deck 6 :rotfl2:

I'm beginning to think that deck one is in the dungeons :rotfl:

Just checked on the website and no stateroom numbers available in 9 D cat although they are still selling 9D cabins and not just GTY

After my dad finished the Stieg Larsson series, I asked one of my other forums about similar authors.

One person sugggested Camilla Lackberg (another Swedish author who is frequently compared to Larsson), and another said to try Hakan Nesser or Peter Hoeg.

In a similar vein, Arnaldur Indridasson (I might have butchered the spelling - sorry!) has a series of detective novels set in Iceland.

Maybe these will tide you over til September?

Thanks Susie :thumbsup2

just had a look and there are no 9d left, but its worth it to keep checking as that how we got our cabin, must admit thats why we didnt upgrade, we didnt want to be so far down on the boat lol,

We are in 7134 on the port side - I think that would probably be better than 7634 (where we were) since the port side will be getting the sunshine during the trip west.

I posted a while back about World Book Night, where I raved about my
favourite book of the moment.

"As you my be aware, yesterday was World Book Night, when 20,000 people in the UK each gave away 48 copies of one of 20 books they had chosen from a list compiled by the organisers.

I was one of those chosen!

My choice of book was the utterly fabulous One Day by David Nicholls, a sad, funny and beautifully written look at the relationship of two friends over 20 years, revisiting them on the same date each year. It has been made into a film starring Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess, due for release in the autumn.

I have kept one copy back to share in the on-board Book Bag which, if no-one else wants the job, I am more than happy to organise this year.

There will, of course, be books on sale in the shop and there is also a borrow-and-bring-back cupboard in The Cove.
As 2010 sailors may recall, the selection is pretty grim at the start of the voyage but definitely improves as the voyage goes on.

If you have any books you want to donate or swap there will be a bag hanging outside room 6140, which is not far from the aft stairwell "

Jane.

I'm still happy to leave a bag for swapping outside our room however my DH Dave :worship:has managed to snag a secret verandah room .. :cheer2:..7120. :woohoo:

Do you think the book swap information might be worth putting on the first page?

I know we're going to print out the first couple of pages to take with us for reference  We'll never remember all the great things that are going on, or the real names of everyone on the thread otherwise.

Jane

Thanks for taking on this, I know we will be partaking.

That sounds great Karen..

Thanks so much for your suggestions! Be careful that AuntLynne doesn't see you gave me these author's names.....she might put you in time out! :lmao::lmao:

Hope everyone has a great week-end! :wizard:

I'm trying not to think about the £500 saving if we change to an 11 b cabin :rotfl:

thats how we got pofq for after the cruise lol, thought how much time will we spend in the cabin anyway :rotfl:

I'm a bit worried about feeling claustrophobic so I thought having a window will be great. I don't want to feel like I'm in a prison cell :rotfl2:

If I win the Euromillions tonight you'll find me in the Walt Disney Suite :lmao:
