I have eaten there three times. It IS, as others have said, very cramped. So the fact that it is dark is a GOOD thing. That being said, I really really enjoy eating there. When I was a kid, my dad managed a farm that employed a lot of Mexican nationals in the summertime. I was friends with a lot of the kids, and ate a lot of real Mexican food. The food at San Angel is as I remember it. They serve run-of-the-mill grocery store Tostitos at the beginning (but the salsa is fresh), but from there on out the food is very good. I have gotten the Mole Poblano and it is just to die for. The Carne Asada is also very good. The last time we were there we were seated on the water and that was soooo nice. DGD age 2 about wore her arm out waving at the boats, and the rest of us ate in peace!!!!
