PVB Tower Charts, Sales Date and more!!!

WDW paid billions to implement MyMagic+. Everything feeds into MyDisneyExperience. When it works, I love it. When it doesn't, I hate it 🤣

Each guest has their own profile within MDE.
Agree it’s awesome when it works BUT it does not work well for people who bounce back and forth between DLR and WDW. We recently had an unpleasant arrival where my daughter could not use her beloved MB+ because she has used it at DL (on a guest ticket in her name but purchased by me and linked to me in my DL account because she’s a minor without an account)— they told me it was *my* MB and there’s absolutely nothing they could do to link her favorite MB to her. They did give us a credit to use at the Marketplace to buy another but the selection was suboptimal. At DL, I’m told you can swap MB+ between users and you it works fine on DCL as well— I assume Disney goes out of its way to block this feature at WDW to stop one time guests from reselling their bands after they depart.
We had another issue, something about it being matched to a different person at DL, that was a whole other debacle 🤣🤣
I suspect that is similar to what I’m describing above. “Oh you used that MB for <lil sally in her exact name and exact same at DL> but put it in a parent’s account? Well you’ll never be able to use it here now, oops!”

Now we just know that we have to have WDW specific bands or use them at WDW first before linking them in at DL…definitely a pain but not the end of the world but also not the best way to treat your most loyal customers.

Yes it was something like that. I used it before at DL then I wanted to give it to my wife because I bought the vacation club one.

I had no idea once its linked to you its linked for life lol. I think that should be explicitly stated when purchasing.

When we went to WDW the first time it wasnt working for her and nobody could tell us why it didnt work so we were just kinda hoping it would eventually and she didnt get the experience and had to pull out her phone for everything.

It took the IT call to know why and its like how would anyone know these things without being informed?? And why cant it be linked to someone else, that is frustrating seems greedy like they want you to just buy another one

Ok, so using it on DCL would be like using them at WDW? Bottom line, just don't link them first at DLR?

I think you're right and they should make people aware of this "feature"[?]...but more probably bug [!].

I’m not certain about DCL because we never use it first there—hopefully someone else can report, but I would think it MIGHT be ok because DCL use doesn’t require putting it in an adult MDE?

It’s a feature for Disney because I have to buy a new band for my sister or MIL or au pair who visits once or twice ever, instead of having a couple guest bands people can use for a trip and reassign— it’s a bug for the person actually paying for guests on a trip. Or for @Girlstar30, now she has to buy a brand new band for her wife instead of reusing an old one (not super eco friendly now that I think about it…)

I’m sure it’s a deliberate choice to block reassigning because the feature is available in the DL app and very easy.

I believe Disney also claims it’s for security, but not clear how reassigning by the MDE user is a significant security risk.

I agree with you i think it's deliberate and selfish 🤣🤣 I would like them to explain to me why its for my security too, if I can verify information over the phone to pay bills and access my bank accounts then im sure giving information to change a Disney magic band isn't posing a great threat lol

They can’t move a MB+ from one user to another for DCL once it’s been used.

At least, not at this time. My friend just used one of mine since all she used it for was to open the room.

Sad to hear about this.... They seem to work very well between DCL and WDW... I'm surprised they can't make DL work in that flywheel as well...

Yeah you can even get little cases and put them on retractable badge clips if you want to use them that way instead of on your wrist

Probably a good idea to link a new MB via MDE first before using it at DL or on DCL if MyMagic+ is causing the issues.

WDW is my primary destination so all my bands originate in that profile.

IDK if it's necessarily "security" or if the WDW IT systems are held together with bandaids and chewing gum 🤣 MBs were issued free to every resort guest for each stay and every AP each year. There are probably millions in circulation. MBs barely work when they're assigned to an individual guest. Imagine swapping? Your photos go to your mom, but your kids DAS goes to your spouse, and no ones room opens anymore 🙈

Not to go too far off topic, but here is an example of how bad the systems are at WDW. I was having a nice time in DHS with my sister one December when I went to book an additional FP+ and got an error for her. Hmmm what was the error? Her annual pass which she scanned into the park with and had redeemed numerous FP+ with since it was 7pm had been reassigned to me. I now had two annual passes with different anniversaries assigned to me and she had no admission. We went over to guest relations and the frontline CM couldn't reassign the AP. The CM had to call a coordinator who took the second AP on my profile and removed it by putting it on a physical card. That card was not linked to me in any way, but it had the AP on it. The coordinator then linked that card to my sister and boom, her AP was back. So bizarre and messy!

See all of that is such a waste of time and headache. I just want to enjoy my day at my favorite escape, i dont want to be dealing with IT issues and learning new things 🤣🤣
