Question about which rooms book up fastest...

We are looking to buy 120 points at BLT next year, we only need a studio. If we wanted to book at another resort, say...AKL...and we waited until the 7 months...are our chances of getting a studio slim? Are studios the most popular room size?

AT AKL I think it would go like this

1. Concerige. this one REALLY requires the 11 month window unless you get VERY lucky and someone cancels.
2. Value Studios. Book up fairly quick and can be difficult if you don't have that 11 month window. The reduced points and the "hope" of a Savannah view.

After that I have been pretty successful booking Savannah views fairly late. I will not stay at AK without a Savannah view so have no idea on the other views


Now, for other resorts...

BWV BW View, very hard to get at 7 months out.
BWV Standard View also hard. These aren't impossible just harder.
BWV Perferred view, depends on the time of year. Food and Wine and early December VERY tough.

BCV is about the same as a BWV Perferred View

OKW is getting harder due to the low points.

SSR generally not too bad.

This is all based on my experience as a late booker. Also studios and 2 bedrooms are more popular IMHO then 1 bedrooms. When I book late I often take a 1 bedroom if that's all that is left, but I probably have more points then I need

The answer to your question depends on when you are looking to book. If you want to stay at AKV in the summer, I'd say your chances of getting a studio are excellent at 7 months. If you want to book in December, they would be less likely.

I've heard on these boards that Grand Villas, Studios and 2 Bedroom villas book up the fastest. But AKV is a large resort, and unless you are shooting for peak DVC booking times I'd say your chances are excellent. Especially if you are flexible on the view classification.

BLT standard view and MK view book up more quickly than lake view. I called recently at 10.5 months and couldn't get a standard view 2BR. I would think you'd do better with BLT points at AKV occasionally than the other way around, unless you want concierge or value.
