Incentive per point credit only good for 7 days after talking with guide?

Buying resale from Derek was the right move. He’s a superstar.

Your direct guide was a jerk and you saved a ton of money buying resale. The universe guided you in the right direction.
Derek was really great! Answered all our questions honestly and gave good guidance instead of just repeating a sales pitch. We are really glad we went resale 😊

It’s nice, but tough to scale. It was a lot easier when I could do GC’s monthly.
Yeahh it's hard enough to amass the gift card I need with my 660 points, I'm not sure if I'd put in the effort for 34k worth of points lol. Maybe just tell each kid to buy 3k worth of gift cards from www.giftcards.com and call it a day, whatever else goes on the card lol.

Basically you have to work a year ahead...

And care enough...

Our dues are low enough that it is relatively easy to do...

But I could imagine an owner with 1k points wouldn't want to deal with it...

I'm reminded of our first DCL cruise... I discovered the $25 gift cards had the best ROI at Sams at the time... Will never do that again!

I have 1k points and paid my 10k in dues all with gift cards. Got lucky with some large deals at the end of the year and now have 8k currently for 2027 dues and trips in between. I would not ever do $25 cards though, that would be a tough one.

This is the way. I just behind you at 950 points (for now :-)), and paid all my dues with gift cards and basically have enough for 2027 too. There were so many good gift card deals the past couple of months. I'm not keeping as track as much as I think you are, but 10% has been so easy to get, with 15+% being pretty regular as well. Such a nice way to save.

I have almost the same amount and it’s easy to do if you’re not looking for a crazy % of discount. 10%? Easy. I got 90% of my cards this year in 2-3 weeks around November and December.

I usually wait until the holidays to get them because I don’t have the patience to hunt small deals like a lot of people do. Until now I have always saved at least 10% (this year was nuts), but if I can find anything I’m ready to pay it anyways, so it’s not like I’m losing anything.

How much of the 30,000 would you say you got off at 10% or higher?

...and in the current interest rate/inflation environment, it's a lot less compelling than it was when interest rates were quite a bit lower. Putting cash in a money market account is a lot less work, and it's a lot harder to lose track of it.

If I didn't have a spend requirement to hit on a new card, I'd just let the dues go out monthly this year, for exactly this reason.

I have 600+ points. My dues were around $5,600. I saved around $1,500 (pending some cashback that is still processing). It didn’t take me more than 30 minutes total to get all those cards. I do have to keep an eye on forums/sites, but I usually do that anyways. I have alerts, but those are not 100% reliable for these deep discounts.

Edit: that isn’t considering the points I got with credit cards. I use those for travel, so I don’t get cash back. That should be another ~$200 in travel redemptions.

This year was an anomaly, so I’m not expecting to repeat that. But a +10% should be easy next year unless the usual promotions don’t happen.

Out of curiosity when you guys do your spreadsheets on break even do you include GC discounts?
