Resort Thread Disney's BOARDWALK INN Resort

Anyone know what happened to the Photo Booth that used to be outside near the Cake Bake Shop/Ice cream on the Boardwalk?

We have a tradition of taking pics in there with the Boardwalk theme and noticed it was gone yesterday.

There is a booth in the arcade but it’s not the same one with the Boardwalk and wedding theme options.

Another Renovated Section of Screen Door General Store Reopens at Disney’s Boardwalk Inn Resort

While this right side of the store is being refurbished, all of the windows facing the walkway have been covered by black stickers.

The storefront of Thimbles & Threads at Disney's Boardwalk Inn Resort boasts a striped awning, pink exterior, greenery in planters, and a charming signboard, reminiscent of the quaint allure found in the Screen Door General Store's renovated section.

The right entrance to the Screen Door General Store has been blocked with rolling planters, and the windows here have also been covered. A white A-frame sign tells guests that the store is still open and points toward the entrance on the left.

A retail store interior resembling Disney's Boardwalk Inn Resort features wooden floors and a patterned ceiling. Clothing displays and fixtures are arranged throughout, with people browsing the merchandise. Bright lights illuminate this beautifully renovated section, evoking charm and elegance.
Moving inside, refurbishment on the clothing section has now been completed. The theming in this recently reopened area matches the left half of the store that reopened first. The ceiling is now mostly white, with nearly all of the brown wood cross-beams replaced with square-patterned molding. The lights have also been replaced with smaller gold fixtures.

A store interior with wooden flooring at Disney's Boardwalk Inn showcases shelves of snacks, drinks, and clothing. A stand featuring folded shirts and hats sits prominently in the renovated section. Two people are browsing contentedly.
The walls and columns in this section have been painted pale blue and green with off-white accents. The beam on the roof separating the two rooms has also been painted white.

The recently renovated section features a herringbone-patterned wooden floor with a tile border, reminiscent of Disney's Boardwalk Inn. This aisle in the Screen Door General Store proudly showcases shelves filled with toys and containers.

As with the first renovated section, the Screen Door General Store’s usual dark wood flooring has now been replaced with a much lighter wood Herringbone pattern and some tile accents.

The display table at Screen Door General Store boasts an inviting array of drinks, snacks, and decorative items. Clothing options can be found in the background of this renovated section. Guests at Disney's Boardwalk Inn enjoy browsing nearby.

All of the merchandise displays are now white, making the space feel much brighter.

A display kiosk featuring Disney animated characters dances on the screen, enclosed in a sleek white and blue frame. Positioned on the wooden floors of a retail store, it's reminiscent of the charming Boardwalk Inn Resort ambiance, with shelves full of enticing merchandise in the backdrop.

One new addition to the store is this white and blue Art of Disney on Demand kiosk. Like the kiosk recently added at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort, it allows guests to purchase art and get it shipped home.

A screen at Disney's Boardwalk Inn Resort showcases two gallery categories: Art of Disney, featuring a dark character image, and WonderGround, highlighting two charming cartoon mice, much like the whimsical finds at the Screen Door General Store.

So far, this kiosk only has categories for Art of Disney and WonderGround. There is no Boardwalk Inn exclusive art being sold at the time of writing.

Two employees stand behind a decorative store counter at Disney's Boardwalk Inn Resort, surrounded by merchandise like bags and shirts. Signs and cash registers are neatly arranged, echoing the charm of the Screen Door shop atmosphere.

The large wooden checkout counter has been replaced with a smaller-sized counter in the same shades of pale green, white, blue, and pink as the walls. The middle panel has a blue oval with some gold filigree and a Mickey icon.

The gift shop interior, reminiscent of Disney's Boardwalk Inn, features wooden floors, a central display counter, and shelves brimming with merchandise. A charming chandelier hangs above while a screen door to the left leads to a newly renovated section adorned with a welcoming blue mat.
For comparison, above is an image of this same store section before the refurbishment. The floor and checkout counters were all made of dark wood, the merchandise displays were brown, and the light fixtures were more ornate.

In the renovated section of Screen Door General Store at Disney's Boardwalk Inn, people browse plush toys and merchandise under a canopy of white ceiling tiles and chandeliers.
The right section of the store has yet to be completed, so it is still blocked off using white construction walls.

The corners of the walls have been blocked with some black tarps. The rolling planters surrounding the entrance on the right side are visible from the store windows.

The refurbishment of the Screen Door General Store is expected to be complete sometime in May 2025, though no exact date has been announced.

I keep reading how dead it is at the Boardwalk now. There was an article from this site, then some other social media spots. They say because of Big River Grille being closed and now Jellyrolls closing?

Do you all feel that's true? I've been watching some vlogs lately and during evening/night, it looks lively to me! Yes the end near the DVC section looks quiet, but it always seemed more quiet that way.

I mean we are staying either way, but hoping there's still a bit of hustle/bustle during the evenings! :D

We all thought it was rather sad in January. The villas end is dead dark and quiet.

Yes Big River Grill is gone, they went bankrupt, and closed in January 2024. JellyRolls is closing / moving offsite on April 19th. Disney is going replace Jellyrolls with a Jazz Club that they will operate or so the rumors have indicated.

There have been a couple of acts on the boardwalk in the evening but it is not every night.

Well, we aren't staying on that end, so maybe we won't really notice. I knew about Big River Grille being gone and JellyRolls closing, I just didn't know it was all around so dead there now. Livestreams can be deceiving apparently!

No big deal, we will still enjoy the sites/sounds while we are there. Eat a corn dog and listen to the boat horns!

It's my DVC home resort, and even with that end looking so sad, I would still never stay anywhere else :-)

May just be my timing (mostly long weekend trips, many around holidays, etc, and granted I'm not hanging out outside Jellyrolls at midnight) but I have the same feeling as you - always kind of packed in my experience, to be honest. YMMV I guess.

We are really looking forward to it. We've stayed at Beach Club a few times, but for some reason the Boardwalk always feels so different to us. Very excited!

Same, we've only ever done BC/YC as the Disney resorts go over there and I'm really looking forward to finally trying BWI.

Besides the carnival games the farthest down towards the villas this week for entertainment has been right in front of the screendoor which obviously is not too far.

Jellyrolls Awnings & Signage Comes Down at Disney’s BoardWalk

Following the permanent closure of Jellyrolls at Disney’s BoardWalk this weekend, decorations on the building’s facade are being dismantled.

A pastel blue and white striped building with Jellyrolls Awnings and bold PYROLLS signage above the entrance.

On Tuesday morning, crews had already removed the “J” and “E” from the “Jellyrolls” sign above the bar’s entrance.

Pastel blue and white wall with missing sign letters, next to “LY,” above Jellyrolls’ red awning and black-striped trim.

Hardware remained on the blue and white paneled wall where the letters used to be.

Several purple and clear plastic light fixtures are piled in the back of a small utility vehicle near some bushes and a sidewalk.

The large purple letters were on a golf cart to be taken away.

Crews had also removed the “Dueling Pianos” lettering from the side of the building. The posts sticking out of the roof used to support the letters.

Two workers on lifts repaint a blue and white striped building with Jellyrolls Awnings, near Crest of the Wave hotel.

An Awning Works truck was parked outside, and sure enough, crew members were working on removing the awning over the front windows. The area is blocked off by green barriers.

Workers install a red Jellyrolls Awnings canopy on a blue-and-white striped building along Disney's BoardWalk.
This awning and the one above the entrance are red with white and black trim inspired by piano keys. The illuminated circular Jellyrolls sign was removed from between the awnings, leaving a faint circle on the wall.

Jellyrolls will reportedly move to a new location outside of Walt Disney World.

Disney has not announced a replacement for the building, but there are rumors of a jazz club.
