Morning all.
enjoy your beach time

Used the last of the half n half in my coffee, so when DH gets home from work, I have to go to the store (which means I need to shave and shower, lol)...luckily I have some shelf stable single serve creamers that I got for hurricane season to use in my 2nd cup.
DH and I are ordering a couple new Halloween decorations for this year, since we are back in a house and have a decent yard. I think a big sign to put beside the front door; a clown that activates with movement, and maybe a giant inflatable cat. DD#2 made it home from South Korea day yesterday, and had a good trip. DD#1, SoIL, and both DGS had a respitory infection over the last week; they're all getting better. No one has heard from DS since his birthday (so 20 days now); but DD#2 was out of the country, and she's his contact, so she is trying today.
Today, I'm making coconut curry vegan soup for dinner; DH was going to pick up Jersey Mike's cheesesteaks for lunch on his way home but we'll have to see if he gets off early enough to get them; he is late this morning because there was a crash on the Buckman bridge (that he takes to work), that shut down both sides of the bridge for awhile this morning. Apparently there was a crash last night, and they left the semi truck on the bridge from that, and this morning, another semi hit it, and both caught on fire. One was marked hazmat, so they had to take extra precautions, including for cleanup, so that the runoff wouldn't get into the St Johns River. Even though it's actually two bridges (one in each direction) and the crash happened on the side that DH would be taking home from work, they had to shut down both because of the smoke, and making sure they could get crews to the crash/clean up, plus all the looky-loos on the other side would absolutely cause more accidents. So he took the long way to work, which comes out closer to his work, but is about half an hour longer (he could have taken the other bridges the other direction and went through downtown Jax, but honestly, who wants to drive in that mess, and it is still half an hour longer, at least).
The other day, we had a bag of brussels sprouts that was amazing! Frozen, but you cooked them in a skillet, and they had a balsamic glaze to them...they were really good! (It was either Green Giant or Birds Eye, I only buy those two brands of frozen veg)....I'll need to see if I can find them again! And for those who like Better than Bouillon...they have 4 new flavors out, and I can tell you the Chipotle one is good in chili! (need to try the other 3: Italian Herb, Adobo; and Sofrito). Their vegetable one is great in rice or farro; and I like the sauteed onion and roasted garlic in soups.
sad news ahead--------------------------
Yesterday afternoon, one of my nephews (son of my Dsis and BIL who passed earlier this year) got in touch with me. My niece Margaret (his next youngest sibling) passed away yesterday morning. She had been sick for awhile; she's had a lot of issues going on, but for the last year, had been traveling from SD to the Mayo clinic in Rochester for her heart. She had gone up to ND to visit in-laws, and her heart finally gave out. My nephew is absolutely broken; in the last 18 months, he has lost his mom and dad, his FIL (to cancer) and now his sister, and his MIL was having brain surgery yesterday, for a tumor. I had to let my brother and my kids know, and when I had messaged another niece, who was thick as thieves with Margaret, since the day they met (Nicholle is not blood, but that doesn't matter to us), I ended up breaking the news to her as well. I am absolutely devastated; I spent all afternoon crying (and I didn't cry this much with DSis and BIL at all, but I was sort of expecting those calls for awhile). She leaves behind two kids (adult son, mid teens daughter). Woke up this morning with a headache and swollen eyes, from crying.

I need to go get that shower. Y'all have a good day.
