Happy Sunday everyone from cooler LA,

🥞:cheer2: Dad just called to say he got 4 boxes of our Kroger Brand pancake mix at a Ralph's about 25 minutes or so away from us. He had called this smaller store earlier who said they did have it and would a few boxes for him so off he went. We What an extra Sunday gift of blessing that the store had it. This store was at least in a much better location than yesterday's Food 4 Less. It's not far from the church I was so active in pre pandemic. Told dad, if there were no pandemic he could go listen to the new pastor. Speaking of the new pastor at this church, I, of course, wish him the best and that he truly acts upon God's Call for him always. One day when all is safe, I will definitely be checking out other local church options. What a blessing that will be to do. I continue to be so grateful, Carol. for your lovely church. Prayers you are having a blast at the ⛱️

:hug:Lynn, my dad enjoys Campbell’s brand of New England Clam Chowder. He would love your home-made version. Thank you for reminding me to at last watch the one episode of Chesapeake Shores that I have bookmarked. Please stay warm and well. I would freeze in 36-degree weather :scared1:! Watch a cozy Christmas movie from your warm home and enjoy it!

Thanks, PollyannaMom, I also never heard of Hickan trees. I would think if you or anyone else had a picture of either a pecan or hickory tree that could work, too. I admit to not being tree knowledgeable either! I can ask Connie if need to be whether there is any way she can take a picture after all. extra to both you and Lynn, I can completely relate to DVR-ing too many Hallmark movies at once. Did that last year and ended up deleting a bunch! That’s why after today’s recording, I won’t be DVR-ing anything else until I have watched Falling for Vermont, I need a Little Christmas, and Destined at Christmas. I also went through all three channels (Hallmark, Hallmark Movies and Mysteries, and Great American Family) and made a list of movies I was most interested in to narrow it down. I always look forward to your 📺 movie thoughts and hope you have already also enjoyed one, my friend.

Big :grouphug: and extra caring feel better prayers for you dear Pea! I am so sorry longer Covid is still plaguing you! My cousin Steve is still dealing with it in TX. Not fun at all.

Much extra love and prayer going to you, Kirby! Thinking of you, friend that is for sure.

I will check in later. Have a wonderful Sunday, everyone with love.

Hello. We got back yesterday. I just scanned the posts so did not see everything posted while I was away. Sending thoughts and prayers to everyone who needs them. dazedx3 I am so sorry about your brother in law. Kirby prayers for James. Lynn I hope your stepdaughter Summer gets some answers and relief soon. Pea-n-me So sorry to hear that covid is still an issue for you.

The trip was interesting, not quite what we had planned but life does throw monkey wrenches into the works. Jeff's older 3 kids recovered from their colds in time. Unfortunately Baby Sam ended up admitted to the hospital on Friday for treatment for severe croup. He spent the night there. Jeff and kids were going to come on Saturday with Kenny and his kids and me but he decided to wait until Sunday. Sam did better overnight Friday night and was home Saturday breathing easier. Jeff and the kids came to Disney on Sunday with Aimee and Sam expected Tuesday. Monday at the doctor appt he told Aimee he did not recommend taking Sam to Disney so they had to stay home. So, we had 3 adults and 5 little ones. Not a good ratio. Kenny's younger DS is a handful and a half. Kenny said he will not take them back to Disney until they are teenagers. LOL! But, Owen would scream and cry if he didn't get his way, he would hit his brother and that would start a fight, they would argue in the stroller, and have regular meltdowns. I expect some of this behavior but it was more than the usual child. Kenny took them back to the room in the afternoon a couple of days to do the pool and then an early dinner. I would stay with Jeff and the kids. His kids were pretty well behaved with the occasional tantrum from Charlotte which was quickly dealt with. We did have alot of fun. We used Genie plus 3 days, one at MK, one at Epcot, and one at Studios. It really helped alot. Our rooms were in the DVC at the Poly. WE could see MK across the lagoon and see space mountain, the tron coaster, the castle, and the fireworks at night. Really good location. I loved going out early in the morning to walk around the resort when it was quiet. On Wed I walked out the door in sandals, shorts, and a T shirt and it was freezing! The temp was 54. I had to go back to get my fleece and wore it all day. Same on Thursday and Friday mornings but those 2 days it warmed up in the afternoon.

Saturday Arrival day. Kenny, the kids and I went to MK after lunch at Captain Cook's and getting one of our rooms. It was so crowded we could only do a couple of rides, People Mover and Buzz Lightyear.

Sunday We went to MK and were waiting for Jeff and kids to arrive. We did Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, the shooting gallery, had a snack and then Jeff and the kids met up with us. We did teacups, had lunch, went on the Speedway, Dumbo, barnstormer, and went back to the room. The kids went to the splash pad.

Monday AK. Tusker House was really nice. The kids loved the characters. I had to see Donald Duck as he was Chris' favorite. The safari was great, I did expedition everest with my older DGD, dino twirl ride, and tried to get back to the room before the storm came in. We got off the bus and it poured buckets. We got soaked going through the rain and the 3 inch deep puddles. We ordered door dash for dinner and got pizza and salad. Captain cook's is good but it has a limited menu.

Tues Epcot for Frozen, Mexico boat ride, soarin, imagination, and walk around world showcase with older DS. Then I met up with Lorrie. We had a nice time chatting. I enjoyed meeting her. Then younger DS came back to the park and I walked around world showcase again with them. That day I went 2 1/2 times around the world showcase. I lost my magic band probably in the water of the Frozen ride and had to buy another one. Dinner was at the BBQ place at the American pavilion. So good.

Wed This day was laundry and take it easy day. We did go to Disney Springs and got the kids souvenirs as well as candy at Goofy's Candy store. One of the hits of the trip. Then we went to MK and it was so busy. It was open later as it was not a party night so everyone went there. We did 2 rides and went back to the room. We did Small World which was a hit with all. Dinner was at Pecos Bills.

Thurs Studios. We did Star Tours, Muppets, Mickey and Minnie's Railroad, ROTR, Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania, Frozen sing along, had lunch at Rizzo's Pizza, popcorn snack. This time Ellie lost her magic band. She took it off to wash her hands in the ladies room and left it. She and I went back and it was gone. But, there was a guest experience booth right outside and sure enough, they had it. Ellie was so happy! Then we left and rode on the Skyliner. The kids loved it. It was dusk and the lights were on. We walked through Epcot to get to the monorail back to the Poly.

Fri We did Peter Pan, Big Thunder Mountain RR, Winnie the Pooh, Pirates of the Caribbean, People Mover, Tiki Room, Carousel of Progress, some did Space Mt, and Buzz lightyear. Genie + helped alot. Lunch was at Pinocchio Village Haus. The tomato soup was really good. Then we went back to the pool. The pool heater was not working and it was really getting cold in the pool as the air temp was in the high 60s and going down. We didn't stay long. Captain Cook's again for dinner. We usually ate in the room but had one breakfast in the place.

I did have a few meltdowns in Small World, Tiki Room, and Carousel of Progress. Those were Chris' favorites so I had a bit of a hard time in those. I also had issues in the room a bit being by myself. Also on the plane the takeoffs and landings were hard as Chris was always interested and awake for those. He usually slept during most of the plane trip. LOL! I am glad my first time back was with family. Jeff and I had adjoining rooms so the kids could come in to see me in the morning and it helped Jeff get ready without having to watch them all. I am not sure if I can go back by myself but it is a maybe at this point. Maybe starting with a 3 or 4 night trip may help and I don't even have to ride many rides, just look around.

Thanks for reading. Wordy I know! :thanks:

@Snowysmom Loved reading your trip report, and it isn't too wordy! Sounds like you had a great trip, just sorry that Sam got sick and some couldn't go..hope he's feeling much better now.
When I saw your post, I realized that an entire week had already gone by and you were already home again!

Sam is feeling well now. In fact, even in the hospital he would give a big smile to anyone who came into the room so they didn't think he was sick. Then they listened to him breathe. He is a happy baby even when not feeling well. Now he is a bit fussy because he has gotten used to being rocked to sleep so they need to try to break that habit.

Welcome Home Snowysmom! Sounds like you all made the best of what were difficult/unfortunate circumstances. (Glad Sam is doing better now.) Sounds like you may have to plan another trip when everyone can go? (Maybe in a few yrs, lol?) Would you ever consider staying in a 3BR unit like at Bonnet Creek (Sleeps 12, I think?) They have a ton of activities for the kids like crafts and a lazy river, with full kitchens and grills and such, good for resort time. We’ve had a lot of trips that week (cause it’s the kids’ bday week), and it’s always super busy. Did you do any of the food booths at Food and Wine? I did see that the temp was unusually low there last week, and I think B&B mentioned it, too. Strange weather! Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I’m glad you got to get away with your family, and although you had some sad moments, it sounds positive that maybe you might be able to go solo if you want to in the future! It’s nice that you and Taz got to meet up, too. :goodvibes

Thoughts and prayers to everyone that needs them.

Thank you for the trip report @Snowysmom sounds like a good trip. So glad to hear baby Sam is feeling better and hopefully everyone can join you on another trip sometime soon.

Went to a family Halloween party yesterday at my aunts house and had a great time, my dad went with me. It's been awhile since we've spent time with the extended family so it was nice to see everyone who was there.

Our weather is turning and I was actually cold this evening. The AC hasn't ran since Friday....yay. LOL Went to Target tonight with DH and he bought me a pretty sweater.

No plans this week...I think we might carve pumpkins tomorrow evening. I'll change all the sheets tomorrow and I switch out our lightweight quilts for our warmer comforters.

Hope everyone slept well and have a great coming week.

Good morning. It is in the fifties here and cloudy now with rain expected to continue later. I hope to get a walk in before it rains. I started with a cold on Saturday. It isn't bad but annoying enough to be a nuisance and affect my sleep so I am tired today. At least it is a cold and nothing else. At Disney people were coughing all over the place.

Have a good day.

Morning all!

Welcome back @Snowysmom ! Sounds like you had a pretty good trip! Glad Sam is feeling better.

@Pea-n-Me @Kirby Hope everyone starts getting better soon!

@flyingdumbo127 woohoo for pancake mix! I prefer the (formerly known as) Aunt Jemina brand, and DH prefers the Kodiak kind.

DS called me at 3am yesterday; he has decided that living in Illinois in a trailer with 5 other people and no job/money is not as fun as he thought it would be back in August...so he is flying back to Florida. He is trying to stay with his friend here (they've been buddies since they started Cub Scouts together, 12-13 years ago now), but wanted to know if he could be here if that fell through. Of course, told him yes, but he would be going to work and paying rent (which we would squirrel away for him, of course). One less worry for me. Then he asked if we could pay for his plane ticket (ok, fine, just come home where I know you'll be ok). A couple hours later, the two of them called me and asked us to pay for his Cub buddy's car repairs, so that they can go to work. DH and I are going to talk about it tonight, because we do love this kid, but he's fallen into some bad habits since he moved out of his mom's house (to his dad's)...we want him to succeed as well, but we need to see the two of them working at that. I was planning on doing so, then telling them instead of paying us back, to come catsit for us when we go see the grandkids in January.

Dh is not feeling well; he was up and down all night, and is now sleeping on my couch. He's not vomiting or anything; he says he feels off and is very tired.

We had First Watch for breakfast Sunday. The pork shoulder was still frozen solid yesterday, so we did Italian stuffed chicken breasts and brussels sprouts for dinner last night; I am going to do the peppers for the posole this morning, but am putting off cooking it another day; it's still 80% frozen, so no worries there; DH won't be able to eat spicy today. I might go get some grilled cheese and tomato soup stuff, as that's his "I'm sick and need comfort food" meal; I'll just get me something easy too.

Y'all have a good day!

Good morning all-- Welcome to our little thread @JPPT1974 ,(well not so little anymore since we are over 1000 pages, but still....) . We are always glad to see new DIS'ers coming to visit us

Going to be another beautiful day, temps near 75. Mother Nature is trying to fool us into thinking that colder weather won't soon be here, I think.
I , like @Snowysmom , have a touch of a cold. Always happens this time of year. So far it's very mild, and I hope it stays that way.
I puttered around yesterday doing some cleaning of this and that. It was another of those days where I started doing one thing, found something else while doing that and had about 4 jobs going at once, lol

@Kirby Continued prayers for James.
@Bianca and Bernard Hope your husband feels better today. And I totally agree with you on how you would like to handle your son and his friends request. Glad he's moving back closer to you though!
@Pea-n-Me Glad you are feeling a little better--hope you are on the way to a full recovery soon!

Have a nice morning all

Good Morning everyone from chillier LA,

Dad is out in our immediate area, so not far away like the last two days, going to three close to each other places: 99, CVS, and Pavilions.

I just received an email from Tracie. She said she spoke with her supervisor. They are unable to provide a refund on the kid's bowl. Okay that is past. I just sent her one final email thanking her for all her time and effort. I did ask whether there is at least any way I can at least be given a $9 site credit to cover my shipping them back the big bowl. I do appreciate her asking and it's all good. Based on her reply, I will make a final decision. Should she say the site will not give me any credit toward shipping cost, I would have to decide once and for whether to lose $25 by keeping the big bowl or gain $16 by spending $9 on shipping to return the big bowl. Lesson reinforced of what is already deep within my being which is that I absolutely and only choose forever Jesus and joy. Zero need or desire for dwelling or drama. This situation has long since expended too much energy and time. How blessed I am to move on and no matter what, it is all good and I am so grateful.

Connie said she will try to take a picture of a Hickan Tree. Will share it with all of you 🌳

AuntieMe3, so glad you had fun with extended family this weekend:hug:. I felt chilly most of yesterday and am cool this morning as well. Last night, put my throw blanket on my🛏️ for the first time in forever. Thinking about jersey sheets to come just need to find new good ones. I would appreciate still any suggestions from you and everyone else, too :)

:welcome: JPPT1974. November will always have a special place in my heart because it was my beloved grandma’s birthday month.

:hug:Snowysmom, you have had an action-packed vacation. I have often felt a need for a vacation from even a few days' vacation that was nowhere as active as your own may have been. Get some rest and please stay warm and well. Have some cocoa!

Huge :grouphug:, B&B. Praise, praise God! I am very grateful, so very thankful that your son at last followed God’s call to him to call home! Of course, it would have been nicer had he not done so at 3am but what matters is that he is safe and coming home. One step at a time. Many 🙏 for all of you and that your DH feel much better as today goes on.

Feel better dear Lynn:hug:. You please be cozy and get extra rest today, too.

PollyannaMom, now are the twins doing in 🏫Prayers they are experiencing a good year and keeping healthy. May you, my friend, stay warm and well and have a good week ahead yourself. prayers also that your DS is healthy and happy!

I will check back in later.

She sees a urologist on Nov 2, and after that she sees the nephrologist again. Dr wants to do a cat scan of her spine, but said she doesn't want her overwhelmed with stuff right now because it will just make things worse. How much worse can it be? They have told her all these things, one after the other for months, yet noone is doing anything about any of it.
She should insist on getting the scan, tell that Dr. to pound sand, she (summer) wants it now, as well as some answers - and a plan of action going forward. I know in some larger hospital settings (probably smaller ones as well) when a patient has multiple things going on at once they will have a meeting with the patient and all of the Dr's to make sure everyone is on same wavelength and make sure no one is missing anything, perhaps something like that can be arranged by the hospital/medical systems patient liaison?
More bad news… talked to my sister (they had to cancel on the trip with us because her DH was having terrible back pain). It is cancer and he is already on hospice. He is in a lot of pain. I‘m just not sure how much more our family can take😭 That is five cancer diagnosis in the past two years.
Wow, that is sudden and terrible news for you sister & her husband. I hear a lot of very positive things about hospice, I hope they can help him -& your sister- there as he enters this challenging time.
Small victory.
Multiple small victories = winner! Glad you had a up experience.
pancake mix.
I'm picky about my pancake mix, too! Whatever they renames Aunt Jemima. Something Mills...oh well, doesn't matter. That's the one I get :thumbsup2
Update on our son, James.
Hope he gets the answers he needs soon, and is feeling better.
The trip was interesting, not quite what we had planned but life does throw monkey wrenches into the works.
That is some kinda wrench! Those adults vs. kids odds didn't sound to good haha!!! So glad to hear your Sam is feeling better.
Our weather is turning and I was actually cold this evening. The AC hasn't ran since Friday....yay. LOL
This time of year I'm a absolute witch (no pun attended) over the heat/AC. I just want one month of electric bill w/o AC or heat costs. But even more so, no matter how much I clean and vacuum the vents I get a head cold every time we turn on the heat, and I'm trying to avoid that!

Good day everyone. Quick hello - same old same old around here, I'm off on the road this afternoon.

@easyas123 You said--

I told her the same thing, but I will tell her again. It just seems like they keep sending her to one Dr after another, and she's not getting anywhere with any of them. She lives in WV, so she is going to WVU in Morgantown, so that's about the largest hospital around there. She texted me this morning to tell me she took the first done of Methotrexate, which I guess is an oral chemotherapy. She said they found lots of sclerosis and bone spurs and deterioration of the bone (I am assuming she means in her hands). So it's not just for arthritis. (she tells us this stuff in bits and pieces, so we never know quite what is going on with her). Now she's worried that she's going to lose her hair, or that she will be crippled in a year. :( I will mention to her about asking for the patient liason to set up a meeting with all Drs if possible. She goes back to Morgantown on Nov 2, so maybe they could set something up for that day.
Thank you!
